Why married men earn more?
Vybíral, Tomáš ; Brožová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Janíčko, Martin (referee)
This thesis examines the question why married men earn more than men who have never been married. Several theories offer the explanation of this phenomena, most important are the productivity hypothesis and the selection hypothesis. Using longitudinal data from the NSLY97 (National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1997) this thesis try to prove that the better health of married men is the source of the premium. Regression analysis shows that hourly wage of married men is in contrast with unmarried higher about 32,8 %. After including controlling variables for education or number of children wage premium drops to 7,7 %, but still remains statistically significant. However the analysis doesn't prove that better health is the reason for the existence of this wage premium.

Specifications of nursering care of patiens with complications after direct SKG/PTCA
BLÁHOVÁ, Ilona
Abstract In the Czech Republic there is no doubt about the tendency of gradual increase in median life expectancy, which is significantly affected by the fact that mortality from cardiovascular diseases, especially from acute coronary syndromes, has been decreasing. Besides the provable effect of a healthy lifestyle, diet and, by all means, a quality and effective pharmacotherapy, a significant development in the field of interventional cardiology contributes to this accomplishment. The number of coronographies, coronary angioplasties and implanted stents have multiplied, and today the invasive coronarographic diagnostics and percutaneous myocardial revascularization belong to the the most common diagnostic and therapeutic methods in treatment of acute forms of ischemic heart diseases. An obvious prerequisite for such a rapid development in the field of intervention coronary angiography was the establishment of a sufficiently dense network of catheter laboratories and specialized facilities, which provide a highly professional and intensive care for patients. This thesis is focused on three basic objectives: ? To survey and characterize differences in nursing care concerning various complications in patients after SKG / PCI ? To survey bio / psycho / social impacts of complications after SKG / PCI on a patient ? To identify and summarize personal and material prerequisites and requirements to ensure quality nursing care for these complicated conditions The research was conducted by using a qualitative methodology. The methods used were observation, non-standardized interviews and medical and nursing records analyses. The research survey samples on which the investigation was focused were patients with the acute coronary syndrome hospitalized in the coronary care unit in the Cardio Center in České Budějovice, their family members and also the nursing staff providing the comprehensive nursing care. The outcomes of this survey were eleven descriptive case reports characterizing the occurrence of the most frequent complications in patients with ACS after SKG / PCI. To ensure clarity, each case study is complemented by a thought map with an account of the most important nursing interventions in the management of specific acute conditions. The paper also contains a framework analysis of bio / psycho / social impacts of complicated situations on patients. It is interesting to compare this matter from the perspective of nurses and patients, which is seen in correlation graphs. The section describing the organizational and personnel provision is introduced with the characteristics of the medical process and it also contains the list of medical personnel with their qualifications and the length of experience in the Coronary care unit in České Budějovice. Summarization of the instrumental medical equipment is also based on the analysis of previous cases and is accompanied by photographs of the equipment typical and indispensable for the care of patients in the Coronary care unit, which primarily has an informative and complementary character to get an integrated view of the Coronary care unit running and the nursing staff work.

Geographical aspects of religion – comparison of the Czech Republic and Austria
Pecharová, Kateřina ; Kokaisl, Petr (advisor)
The purpose of my thesis is to map a development of religion, mainly christianity, and its different geographical aspects of the Czech republics and Austrian territory. I´d like to compare individual indicators and using questionnaires and interviews answer these questions: Nakolik tyto atributy může zachytit statistika? What are the main attributes of religiosity? The extent to which statistics capture these atributes? How does faith and religiosity vary from each other? How much does actual rate of religiosity and real faith vary? Do the statistics give us a realistic information about religion and its part in mentioned countries? Why do the rate of religiosity in the Czech republic and Austria vary so much from each other considering that they are neighboring countries. Are Austrians considering their high rate of religiosity really more religious than Czechs as an atheistic nation?

Cell culture-based model for the evaluation of adhesive properties of probiotic bacteria
Theodorou, Vasiliki ; Havlík, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Tauchen, Jan (referee)
Probiotic microorganisms, defined as living microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit to the host, and their adhesion and colonization of intestinal epithelium, are critical factors in maintaining probiotic efficacy. Polyphenols are a large and heterogeneous group of phytochemicals in plant-based foods, such as tea, coffee, wine, cocoa, cereal grains, soy, fruits and berries. In the last decade, there has been much interest in the health benefits of dietary plant polyphenols that arise from their potential ability to promote adhesion of probiotic bacteria to the human intestinal epithelium. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of four polyphenols: isoquercetrin, phloretin, procyanidin B2 and rutin on the adhesion ability of two potentially probiotic strains (Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus gasseri) to in vitro human intestinal epithelial model consisting of Caco-2 and mucus-secreting HT29-MTX co-culture. The adhesion of Lactobacillus casei after treating the co-culture cell lines with isoquercetrin, phloretin, and rutin was increased by 49.76, 72.97, 63.66 % respectively, whereas procyanidin B2 inhibited the adhesion 20.25% compared with the control sample. The adhesion of Lactobacillus gasseri after treatment of the co-culture with isoquercetrin, phloretin, procyanidin B2 and rutin was increased by 35.45, 31.28, 45.69, 25.01 % respectively compared with the control sample.
