Room Occupancy Detection with IoT Sensors
Kolarčík, Tomáš ; Jeřábek, Kamil (referee) ; Pluskal, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this work was to create a module for home automation tools Home Assistant. The module is able to determine  which room is inhabited and estimate more accurate position of people inside the room. Known GPS location cannot be used for this purpose because it is inaccurate inside buildings and therefore one of the indoor location techniques needs to be used. Solution based on Bluetooth Low Energy wireless technology was chosen. The localization technique is the fingerprinting method, which is based on estimating the position according to the signal strength at any point in space, which are compared with a database of these points using machine learning. The system can be supplemented with motion sensors that ensure a quick response when entering the room. This system can be deployed within a house, apartment or small to medium-sized company to determine the position of people in the building and can serve as a very powerful element of home automation.
Comparison of methods for indoor localization
Povolný, Ondřej ; Rozum, Stanislav (referee) ; Frýza, Tomáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is in theoretical part focused on the ideas of the localization of people or objects, using the IoT technologies, namely ZigBee and Lora™. The possible methods of localization are mentioned, with the mention of parameters of the used technologies and the overview of existing modules that are obtainable on the market. The result of a practical part is design of PCBs, the basic testing of hardware and software and the analysis of the obtained data.
Car Localization Using Satellite Systems
Uhliar, Martin ; Drahanský, Martin (referee) ; Goldmann, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the design, hardware and software implementation of a location device which can get a location data and speed of a car on the Earth's surface. Through the GPRS mobile network, the obtained values  are transferred to a remote server and then stored in a database. This data is presented to the user via a web application that displays the current location of the car on the map. The device is controlled by ARM microcontroller.
Distance and position determination using ultrasound
Bartoš, Dalibor ; Šteffan, Pavel (referee) ; Hejátková, Edita (advisor)
This thesis describes distance measurement using ultrasound and its application in determining position of an object. First part of this thesis describes principles of ultrasound wave propagation, piezoelectric transducers, basics of both triangulation and trilateration and different kinds of park assist systems. The second part contains description of algorithms designed to determine position of two objects at the same time. Last part of the thesis describes implementation of created algorithms into software and also modules used in the test measurement.
Localization in Wireless PAN
Polok, Zbyszek ; Šimek, Milan (referee) ; Hynčica, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of localization in wireless sensor network. First, ZigBit 900 Modules equipped with chip for wireless communication (AT86RF212) are used to measure the signal strength in the area of Brno University of Technology. The recorded values are then processed using trilateration localization techniques and Euclidean propagation methods. After detecting negative effects on the calculation of the position sought, a filtering method for the calculated values is proposed. In addition, an algorithm determining a sufficient number of reference values for loss rate is also designed to locate all the positions sought. By virtue of these algorithms the trilateration localization method is optimized.
Node Location in the ZigBee Network
Capalini, Richard ; Očenášek, Pavel (referee) ; Trchalík, Roman (advisor)
The master thesis is concerned with problem of localization of nodes in wireless sensor network WSN implemented by ZigBee technology. The thesis provide description of ZigBee architecture involving signal description. The method of evaluating coordinates basically do not depend on used measuring methods. The method  of fingerprinting is included in separated category based on only statistical processing of RSSI data. Determination of coordinates of mobile node always needs finding out range, signal time of arrival (ToA) or angle of arrival (AoA) in respect to anchors node given dimension magnitude. The author found out three possible solutions for range measuring and one solution for angle of arrival measuring useable in context of ZigBee wireless sensor network. Finally the author discuss possibilities and constraints of ZigBee network with used measuring type.
