The Relationship between the Holy See and France at the Beginning of the 20th Century

The thesis will focus on the development and transformation of diplomatic relations between France and the Holy See at the beginning of the 20th century. The author will analyze the assumptions of separation between the two mentioned countries, which occurred in December 1905, and caused the exclusion of the Church from political life in the country. The aim of the work will be analysis, description and interpretation of changes of relations between the two countries in the years 1904/1905-1921 including the restoration of diplomatic relations and the stabilization of relations after a long and dramatic rupture, which has not been processed in contemporary Czech ecclesiastical historiography up-to-day.

The Art Nouveau ecclesiastical architecture in Czech Republic (Bohemia) The diploma thesis focusses on Art Nouveau religious architecture in Bohemia. It deals with the cultural and art movements between 1890-1920 which íncludes the late Historicism, Art Nouveau, and Modernism. The first part of the diploma thesis presents the influences which affected the development of Art Nouveau religious architecture in Bohemia and its architects. It also introduces architectural elements that are typical for Art Nouveau religious architecture. The second part of the diploma thesis presents religious buildings in the particular regions of Bohemia and describes them subsequently in the catalogue that is arranged chronologically. Comparison of the pastoral and charity care for the senior citizens in the Archdiocese of Prague

The diploma thesis "Comparison of the pastoral and charitable care for the elderly in the Archdiocese of Prague" enquires into the relation between the pastoral and charitable care for the elderly in the Archdiocese of Prague and the quality of accessible local services. It seeks to define the meaning of being old in the 21st century, deals with the questions of ageing and old age and the perception of these phenomenons in the broad social context. The thesis underlines the dignity of old men as well as their specific psychological and spiritual needs. The second part of the paper inquires into the principles of the charitable and pastoral care and it tries to sort out the accessible services. The last, empirical part contains the methodology and interpretation of the research among the charitable and pastoral institutions and parishes. Catholic newpaper in the days of lack of freedom 1949-1968

The present study Catholic Newspaper between 1949 and 1968 deals with a historical analysis of the Catholic Newspaper which was established in order to implement repressive measures of the Communist Party against the Catholic Church. This study also discusses the situation of the Catholic Church after 1948 when the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia came to power. The Catholic Newspaper was established in 1949 and at that time, it represented the only periodical of the Catholic Church which could strengthen the belief of people as well as provide religious education. Other Catholic journals were discontinued shortly after the Communist coup in February 1948. The Catholic Church became one of the major enemies of the new government. A part of this study deals with the negotiations of the main representatives of the state as well as the Catholic Church. The failure of establishing an agreement led to a new religious policy in Czechoslovakia; the policy comprised administrative measures against the Catholic Church, processes with Church Authorities and restrictions in the education system of theologians. Cardinal Josef Beran S.M.Bernadetta Pavla Pěstová, OSU This thesis deals with reference and work of Josef Cardinal Beran, especially from the perspective of his pastoral work as an educationalist, the diocesan bishop and cardinal living in forcible exile. The thesis consists of five chapters. The first charter describes Beran's life hierarchically and emphasizes his clarical activity. The second charter deals with his teaching activities. Furthermore, this charter focuses on the selected publications that Cardinal Beran wrote during his life. A fundamental part of this thesis is the third chapter, dealing with the activities of the Archbishop from 1945 to 1949. The final chapters are devoted to activities in the intervent of Josef Beran in Roman exile. Cardinal Josef Beran ranks among the leading personalities of the 20th century. Life under the shelter of God. Wayside shrines in the 19th century - customs and manifestation of the folk devoutness of that time. The Bachelor thesis focuses on the acts of folk devoutness on the basis of spiritual theology in connection with tangible heritage ? the columns of the crucifixion and some preserved archival material. The text is divided into seven basic chapters. The first chapter deals with the general introduction to the problem, the second chapter briefly outlines the methodology, the third chapter defines the geographical area. The fourth chapter explains the situation of the Catholic Church in the 19th century. The fifth chapter looks into the concept of devoutness in general, the sixth chapter continues with the topic explaining the folk devoutness and concentrates on the spiritualness of the young shortly. The following chapters discuss the pilgrimages in the 18th and 19th century. The seventh chapter supports the links between the tangible heritage and the folk devoutness.
The Neocatechumenal Way as the perspective of New Evangelization process

The thesis presents the Neocatechumenal Way as the perspective of New Evangelization process. Introduction part puts into context critical evaluation of contemporary society and the Second Vatican Council, responding to this situation by reintroducing of the catechumenate. Then follows presentation of the Neocatechumenal Way, legislative processes connected with its approval by the Catholic Church and description of individual phases of the spiritual way. Next part deals with the word of God, Liturgy and Christian community. The final part of the thesis is focused on the laity apostolate, vocation to the consecrated life and the Redemptoris Mater seminaries, as the ?fruits? of this spiritual way.
The Transfer Movement in Pisek (1918 - 1922)

The thesis deals with the religious life in the town of Pisek in the time period of 1918 - 1922. The first part considers religious circumstances in the context of creation and development of the Czechoslovak Republic. It pays special attention to the so called "cultural struggle" when two trends of progress were consolidated - "away from Habsburgs" and "away from Rome". The text draws connection between the reform movement within the Catholic Church and formation of the Czechoslovak Church. It briefly characterizes the changes in evangelical churches and describes the Transfer Movement phenomenon in concurrence with the census. The second part focuses on specific expressions of the Transfer Movement in the town of Pisek. It uses data found in Church sources, records of announced withdrawals and transfers kept by religious organisations and in the period press. In the core of this section is the confrontation of activities and viewpoints carried out by representatives of three churches - the Catholic, the Czechoslovak and the one of Czech Brethren.
