The sleep hygiene in men serving imprisonment
HULÁK, Pavel
The diploma thesis is focused on sleep hygiene of men serving a prison sentence. Its main goal is to set recommendations for professional staff in terms of sleep hygiene of convicted men in a specific prison environment. A partial goal is to determine the quality of sleep in selected men serving a prison sentence and by what factors their sleep is most affected and whether these men know the concept of sleep hygiene and follow its rules. The theoretical part defines the concept of resocialization and also provides more information about the execution of a sentence. The main part of the work deals with the physiology of sleep and sleep hygiene, while there is also a list off actors affecting the quality of sleep. This part of the work concludes with a description of the most common harmful habits affecting sleep in prison. The empirical part of the work, using a quantitative approach in research, made it possible to meet all the stated goals, but the hypotheses set for this research were all refuted. However, one third of respondents (35 %) report sleep problems, 27 % attribute a negative share to falling asleep to prison stress and 34 % admit fatigue as a physical consequence of not sleeping.
Rehabilitation of men addicted to alkohol
PEŠÁKOVÁ, Ilona
The diploma thesis focuses on the methods that are applied in aftercare services focused on follow-up treatments and the associated subsequent resocialization of clients. Furthermore, this thesis focuses on the approaches, methods and techniques of social work that are used to successfully integrate men into the job market. Thesis is also concentrated on areas the communication partners observe the greatest success of follow-up treatment in the aftercare program. In the theoretical part, the first chapter focuses on alcohol addiction general. The second chapter deals with the treatment of addicts, their forms, types of facilities providing treatments and its progress. In the third chapter deals with the resocialization, types of aftercare services offered, the issue of relapse and recurrence and applied methods and techniques of social work. Areas of resocialization and its subsequent success are also described in this chapter. The practical part focuses on partial goals in the form of qualitative research, namely semi-structured interview. The sampling was selected by purposeful selection through institutions in the facility ALKAT z. s. in Jemnice. In the first part, I dealt with general information about addicted people - e.g. what are their family relationships and what was the reason for joining the aftercare program. The second part describes the procedure of the aftercare program. What are activities they are taking part of in order to increase their chances of successful integration into society. In the third part, I followed the approaches, methods and techniques of social work used in ALKAT z. s. in the resocialization of men addicted to alcohol. I concentrated on the comments of communication partners, who advised me of approaches of social work that are appropriate for specific men. The fourth part deals areas the communication partners monitored the best success of resocialization during the stay in the aftercare facility. It describes also areas where they feel the highest rate of improvement and what or who was greatest motivation for them on the path to recovery. Research has shown that communication partners have experienced alcohol since a young age. Each of them started abusing alcohol for various reasons. The reason for entering the aftercare facility was both the improvement of the health condition and the pressure of the family or the extension of the treatment due to the fact that they have nowhere to live. The treatment procedure was evaluated by all communication partners as appropriate and they were mostly satisfied with its form and progress. The research confirmed that each of the clients is unique, and they treat them with respect, with specific approach which is beneficial and helpful to them. The participants of the research survey stated that there are issues that they prefer to consult with a social worker or therapist (method of social work with an individual), on the contrary with regard to training skills and techniques or just a source of experience in fighting cravings the group therapy method is preferred. Related to this, the area of social work approaches used is mostly a combination of more than one method that is applied in the aftercare program in the institution (task-oriented approach, systemic approach and cognitive-behavioral approach). All communication partners agreed that the most helpful techniques are motivational interviewing techniques, relaxation and distraction of attention. An element that has a great influence on the success and persistence of treatment is motivation, which is different with regard to the diversity of clients. Success also depends on the number of treatments that clients have already completed, as the number of successful resocializations decreases with increasing numbers of successful treatments, which may be due to previous ineffective treatment, insufficient motivation, poor family or inappropriate social relationships and poor lifestyle.

Frydrychová, Monika ; Matoušková, Andrea (advisor) ; Hulmáková, Jana (referee)
(anglicky): In my thesis, I focus on the role of social workers in prisons and their effect on social rehabilitation of offenders who have committed a property crime. Imprisonment is based on the principle of restorative justice beyond the protection of society to act as an educational element directly to the offender. Individuals who leave prison, are at risk of social exclusion and their possibility of integration into society is due to stigmatization, unstable social environment, housing, employment and other circumstances endangered. The aim of this bachelor thesis is mapping the activities of social workers with adult men in prison. The social worker is a part of the overall examination of the situation of prisoners, social workers are also involved in the processing of a rehabilitation program, which has an impact on an individual's life after release and on recidivism. Social worker cooperate with families, verifies information, etc. The thesis explores the practice of social workers in our country and considering to the practice I suggest changes to improve practice.

An implementation of what is currently one of the most commonly used tools for high- risk assessment of offenders, HCR-20, the 3rd version - HCR (V3) to the Czech Republic is the main goal of the submitted thesis. Specifically, a theoretical background of this tool, an illustration of the administration and data evaluation within two different case studies, an assessment of inter-rater reliability, a comparison of three versions of HCR-20 with emphasis on the second and the third vision and advantages and disadvantages of HCR (V3) are introduced. This project underlines an importance of taking part in training for a high-risk assessment tool, which is very often underestimated in the Czech Republic, and the importance of gained experiences in high-risk assessment of offenders and the unification of assessors. Moreover, the study supports the implementation of standardised high-risk assessment method. The high-risk assessment of offenders ad hoc should be replaced in our country by clinical assessment supported by results gained via standardised high-risk assessment tool as it is applied abroad. Further research is needed to gain this goal. Empirical results in the thesis are supported by theoretical background. Terms like the high- risk assessment, re-offense, rehabilitation techniques and programs...

1 Abstract This thesis deals with community mental health care. We focus on patients with affective disorders because we assume that community mental health care services would be salutary for some of them but these patients do not use the services yet. A theoretical part describes the mental health concept and its specification, both in conceptual materials of Czech organizations and in World Health Organization documents. The thesis analyses affective disorders, their social impact and community mental health care situation in the Czech Republic. An empirical part consists of two empirical researches, which are interrelated. The questionnaire survey among hospitalized patients with an affective disorder has been focused on the level of awareness of community mental health care services, on patients' interest in these services and on use of these services. The on-line survey has been conducted in Prague's community mental health care organizations to determine a proportion of clients with an affective disorder within these services and to determine the possibility of their placement. It turned out that most of interviewed patients with an affective disorder are not informed about the community health care services and therefore they don't use the services but they would be interested in it. We conclude...
