Assignment was to create an architectonic solution of residential complex in city district Brno – Komín, between streets Pastviny, Houškova and Uhlířova. Affected area of approximately 20,482.5 m2 is currently used as private gardens. Architectonic solution is based on east-west orientation and vertical terrain configuration of the area. Design of rectangular composition of four structures containing two to three-story residential buildings created four “nests” labeled A, B, C and D. Each “nest” contains 16 or 20 flats with underground parking solution. “Nests” seemingly create closed space, however simple rectangular masses of individual buildings raising from the structure of underground garages and terrain are situated shifted to each other to ensure the quality of housing, enough light and sun shine and not-disturbing parking capacity. Meanwhile visual and pedestrian permeability of the area were maintain to respect public, semi-public and private spaces. Construction of the residential complex is connected to public utilities and transport infrastructure through street Uhlířova. Design of the structures respect surrounding buildings and also public environmental areas.

In concept, I was inspired Komín village square. This is a quality structure (not only in the Komín), which has survived for more than 700 years, although she was originally an agricultural, has no problem to adapt to today's needs. I tried to maintain a hierarchy of spaces from the street to the garden, that garden I designed joint. This sharing should lead to greater communication between people. From longitudinal originally agricultural buildings that make up the square, I took some basic principles that creates this structure. From longitudinal houses, which form the square, I took some basic principles that creates this structure. The walls and roof houses are designed from "reinforced concrete sandwich". The aim was to make the house served as a whole and also to residential ensemble acted as a single entity against the environment. Brutality concrete exterior contrasts with the landscape, particularly with Palackého vrch, and trying to get into balance. Rawness of concrete in interior highlights the comfort of our time trying to break away from it.

Residential complex at the hillside of Palacký vrch in Brno-Komín. A location just in between a 70's apartment houses and a large forest is nowadays a gardening colony, in the proposal is the plot rasterized with cubical houses, which are creating a new piece to a whole mosaic of the hillside's development. The complex is aligned with the scale and topography of the surroundings, but it doesn't directly connect to the development around it. Thanks to its own strong structure new spaces are created, in a modest scale, providing enough privacy and at the same time spaces where people can meet. A structure, that is independent from the changes that the surrounding is surely going to undergo.

This project deals with design of a residential complex in city district Brno-Komín. Given area is sloping and forms a connection between the urban area and the forest. The aim of this project was to propose a solution that offers enough private and public places and is sensitive to its surroundings. I designed a complex of single and double storey atrial houses accessible from the residential street. It is primarily intended for pedestrians, but it also enables entrance and parking of cars. The road and garages are located in the north part of the area along the old tree alley. I situated two villas embedded into the hill in the steepest part of the area. Residential complex under Palacky hill was designed with regard to the location of the parcel and the context of surrounding buildings and the overall appearance of the place. The plot is built up most of its terraced houses in two layout versions that have the same material and mass characteristics and thus make the whole integrity. On the east side of the plot are located three detached houses, by their nature correspond to ordinary houses. In an attempt not to separate a life outside the house and in it fairly large front yards were designed where selected rooms are oriented.

The concept is based on the possibilities of transport service territory, which is an effort to involve as few cars in the town center. Due to the isolation of cars outside the group, semi-public space gets added value, which is a residential garden. Urban structure building blocks, called. Nests, which are designed to clearly define a hierarchy of outdoor space. Its diverse gear, can create a variety of situations where the courtyard opens before us, we in turn could fit in between the street and be guided by their structure. Block size based on the optimal size of the courtyards shaped by outdoor space. This creates a clearly defined place like alley, street, garden, grove and orchard. The yard is situated in the middle of the living space and creates its center. This is supplemented by a small trade facilities. The courtyard are also situated residential gardens to increase the level of privacy inhabitants. Other gardens are flush to the existing gardens.
