Repeatability in the behavioural analyses
Vobrubová, Barbora ; Frynta, Daniel (advisor) ; Sedláček, František (referee) ; Špinka, Marek (referee)
This thesis is focused on the repeatability of behaviour, a suitable tool for quantification of personality, which is defined as consistent inter-individual differences. It contains five studies, which view repeatability and personality from different angles. In the first study, I focus on the description of the history of personality studies, the most often mammalian species used in these studies, and I present a metaanalysis of the published works. The highest repeatability was found in activity, the lowest in aggressivity and exploratory behaviour. The following two studies concern the expressions of personality in exploratory behaviour of the black rat (Rattus rattus). The first one analyses habituation in the course of repeated testing, and found the most prominent habituation in head-dipping (looking in the holes) in the hole board test. This study also demonstrates the differences between different approaches to estimating repeatability, when the inclusion of systematic effect of habituation increased the repeatability estimates. The subsequent study measured the levels of fecal glucocorticoid metabolites (fGCM), their diurnal cycle and the association with exploratory behaviour. fGCM showed themselves to be an interindividually variable characteristic, which is well repeatable, despite the...
Automation of metallographic sample cleaning process
Čermák, Jan ; Ambrož, Ondřej ; Jozefovič, Patrik ; Mikmeková, Šárka
Specimen cleaning and drying are critical processes following any metallographic preparation steps. The paper focuses on automation by reason of absence of the process repeatability during manual sample handling. An etchant or electrolyte results in inhomogeneous surface quality because the solution runs off the specimen surface during its removal from the beaker. High-quality specimen cleaning is absolutely crucial for the acquisition of the specimen suitable for characterization by a scanning electron microscope operated at very low landing energies of the primary electrons (SLEEM). The SLEEM technique is a powerful tool for the characterization of advanced steels, as described by many scientific papers. The SLEEM requires the specimen absolutely free of water and any organic residues on the surface. This work presents a novel unique apparatus enabling automatic specimen cleaning and drying after the etching or electropolishing processes. Automation reduces the influence of dependent variables that would be introduced into the process by the metallographer. These variables include cleaning time, kinematics, and motion dynamics, but the process can also be affected by variables that are not obvious. Performed experiments clearly demonstrate our in-house designed apparatus as a useful tool improving efficiency and consistency of the sample cleaning process. The high quality of the specimen surface is verified using a light optical microscope, an electron scanning microscope, and above mentioned SLEEM technique.
Design of mechanical subsystem of tester for touch screen devices
Measurement and product inspection using 3D manipulator
Klimeš, Petr ; Čala, Martin (referee) ; Beneš, Petr (advisor)
In thesis there is research of 3D scanning methods in order to create method for contact and non-contact scanning of windsurfing boards. There is also research of measuring accuracy and repeatability of 3D manipulators. Repeatability is then measured for given manipulator and contact and non-contact sensors are tested for scanning windsurfing boards. Measured data is processed and compared to original reference data.
Numerical Method of Image Processing for Extruded Fiber Diameter Measurement
Vostal, Jiří ; Bednář, Josef (referee) ; Štarha, Pavel (advisor)
This work is focused on extruded fiber diameter measurement problem. For this purpose a procedure has been proposed. This procedure makes use of numerical methods for image processing, which are described in theoretical part of work. The proposed procedure has been processed into single-purpose software and in the final part is assessed its repeatability and reproducibility.
Comparative tool for datasets using method IELF
Podjukl, Zdeněk ; Miloš, Jiří (referee) ; Kadlec, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with a realization of MATLAB IELF method solver. IELF method was designed for comparison of two datasets. The method is mostly used in EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) measurements and simulations. Thesis consists of 4 chapters. First one showcases some of the most widely used comparison methods, the second describes looks and behavior of the aplication, third contains description of program code and the last one deals with calculations testing.
Repeatability and personality in tests of exploratory behaviour
Žampachová, Barbora ; Frynta, Daniel (advisor) ; Sedláček, František (referee)
Personality, or behavioural differences among individuals, which are stable both in time and across contexts, is a highly popular topic. Currently there has been an increase of interest in the relationship between personality and repeatability, which is a methodical approach developed to measure the stability of interindividual differences in time. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the personality of rats according to behavioural patterns exhibited under widely used testing procedures in new environment (open field test, hole board test) and to compare, how behavioural traits in these tests mutually correlate and change over time. Each test trial was repeated eight times with different intervals (24 hours, 6 days, 4 weeks). The results suggest that most of the recorded behavioural variability can be explained with three principal axes. The first one is associated with loco-exploratory activity of the subject. The elements of behaviour associated with this axis are the most repeatable. The second axis is mostly associated with time the animal spent in the central part of the arena and the third axis represents the interest in holes in hole board test. These two axes are less repeatable. A significant effect of the identity of the animal was found in all behavioural traits, associated with these...
Quality assessment of pneumatic linear drives
Pecl, Tomáš ; Jankových, Róbert (referee) ; Budík, Tomáš (advisor)
This Master’s thesis deals with the evaluation of quality pneumatic linear drives. The theoretical part describes the problems in the field of pneumatic cylinders and statistical methods to perform the analysis. The practical part includes the execution and evaluation of the statistical analysis of the measurement process and pneumatic cylinders, also brings recommendations to optimize the measurement process. The methods used included analysis Gage R & R, Analysis control charts and data analysis using the process capability. The study was made for the purpose of improving test equipment Norgren Ltd. Used computer programs was Minitab Statistical Software and MS Excel.
