The Organization of Repatriation of Displaced Persons in Czechoslovakia after WWII

The Organization of Repatriation of Displaced Persons in Czechoslovakia after World War II. Bc. et Bc. Jana Kasíková Abstract Analyzing the social aspects of the repatriation process of those forced out of their home countries to Czechoslovakia during WW2, this thesis first describes the communication and cooperation of the Czechoslovakian exile government in London with international organizations, particularly with UNRRA and SHAEF. Furthermore, the social, health, transportation and financial impact of creating and maintaining the supporting structures for repatriating displaced persons is explored, with both governmental and non-governmental perspective. Special attention is given to the participation of the general public, e.g. donations, volunteering, media coverage and public relations. The final chapter then explores the organizational structure of the repatriation process in Czechoslovakia. Specific communication between Czechoslovakian and French institutions is presented as an insight into international cooperation. Repatriation of Czechoslovak exile from Great Britain after the Second World War

The aim of this work is to present how the repatriation from the UK to the liberated Czechoslovakia took place after World War II. The inclusion of the Czechoslovak repatriation to international repatriation action is necessary to emphasize the role of international organizations without this the whole event could not be undrstood correctly. Firstly, the paper focuses on many years of planning repatriation by London exile government which was incredibly tedious process not only for itself but also for the Allies. Planning is encountered a lot of problems and in addition to some conclusions had to wait until the end of the Second World War as it was necessary to know the current situation in the home country. Secondly, the work presents itself start, progress and conclusion repatriation focusing on individual transports and difficulties that accompany them. In conclusion, the paper presents several returnees with their life stories during the duration of their stay in England and after their return to their homeland. The deportation of the Kalmyks to Siberia (1943 - 1957)

Diploma thesis Deportation of the Kalmyk people to Siberia (1943-1957) is devoted to one of the tragic chapters in the history of the Kalmyks, people living in the Lower Volga region in Russia. In the diploma thesis the issue of the Kalmyk deportation in the Soviet Union during World War II is analysed in a broader context. The issue of deportation as a foudation of the thesis is put into a wider context. The concept of deportation and repressive policies was established by a state government in the first half of the 20th century. Deportations were used by the apparatus of government of the Soviet Union as one of the forms of repressive sanctions to regulate conditions in the state. Political, social and economic situation in the first half of the 20th century in Russia was impacted by the Stalinist period. The period of J. V. Stalin's rule over the Soviet Union (1922-1952) was entered into the history of Russia as a period of mass repressions (collectivization, persecution of the kulaks, church dignitaries and political dissenters, the "great terror", deportations on the eve of World War II, total deportations during the World War II). Repressions were one of the strategies used by the government to concentrate power in the hands of the Communist Party and to strengthen the regime in the country....
The repatriation and return of Czechs from forced labor and internment in Germany after World War II.

Repatriation of Czechoslovak citizens after the Second World War is one of the less explored areas of the Czech history. This work examines the process and arrangement of repatriation, focusing primarily on the return of the Czechs from Germany. Investigated issues include the international preparations for repatriation during the war, defining the status of Displaced Persons, as well as the international postwar repatriation activities of the international institutions, e.g., SHAEF and UNRRA. The key topic being the repatriation in the Czechoslovakia, attention is paid to the newly created department for repatriation in Bohemia and Moravia. This paper describes the contribution of individual organizations to repatriation as well as the coordination of the care for the repatriates. A special chapter is dedicated to the contemporary communication with the public and presenting the repatriation in the mass media.
The Jews of Czechoslovakia after WWII

The thesis Jews in Czechoslovakia after WWII deals with the situation of the Czech and Moravian Jews after the WWII. It looks into the problems of the Jews liberated in the concentration camps and their process of repatriation and the problems, which were connected with their's adaptation to the society in Czechoslovakia. It follows the work of the Czech repatriation authorities and foreign Jewish organizations, which helped the Jews to adapt into the Czechoslovakia society. The thesis puts emphasizes on the differences between the behavior of the Jewish community in Prague and the Czech bureaus, which were obvious in the period of the return of the Jews to Czechoslovakia after the WWII. It also deals with the situation of the Jews from Carpathian Ruthenia and the Jews with German nationality, whose conditions where much more difficult.
Repatriation of Barn Owl, Little Owl and Ural Owl from the zoo Ostrava

According to the Executive Regulation No. 395/1992 Coll., the Barn Owl and the Little Owl are nowadays classified as threatened species in the Czech Republic, while the Ural owl as a critically endangered species. Landscape changes together with low food availability, increasing predation by Pine Marten, lack of nesting biotopes and nesting hollow trees, negative impact of increasing traffic, and technical traps in rural buildings, all these factors lead to a rapid decline in the owl numbers. Therefore, monitoring and reintroduction projects have been started in order to help the owl populations. This thesis focuses on recording the numbers of the Barn Owl, the Little Owl and the Ural Owl wild breeding pairs in the Czech Republic. It aims to evaluate the asset of monitoring and reintroduction to the wild populations of these species. It compiles and evaluates the numbers of chosen owl species in different localities in the Czech Republic.
Long-term Work Abroad and its Impact on Further Career Development

The master thesis concentrates on long term work abroad and its impact on further career development. The procedure of the control workers (expatriates) in separate stages, e.g. dispatch of the workers, manage the procedure of the expatriation and the stage of the return from abroad (repatriation) is approached on the specific example the Czech Trade Promotion Agency. The impact of the gained skills on the further personal and career development has been considered by the empirical research between the managers, who currently are abroad. The procedure of the dispatch and return of the expatriates and its impact on organization development has been evaluated by the analysis of the actual situation in Czech Trade Promotion Agency. This issue has been considered in the specific environment of the public service. The Czech Trade Promotion Agency is contributory organization, established by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

Bachelor thesis describes the dominant streams of international migration within the Czech lands in the period 1938-1993 and factors that caused this migration. The thesis consists of eight parts, including introduction, conclusion and bibliographies. In the introduction there are explained the main terms and the goals of this thesis are set. The second part deals with the period of the Second World War and migration during and just before the war, the third part continues with the expulsion of the Germans and re-emigration of the Czechs and Slovaks after the end of WW2. The fourth part deals with the emigration under communism until 1967 and immigration into the Czech lands from Slovakia and allied socialist countries. The fourth part is followed immediately by the fifth part, where there are analyzed the emigration streams in the era of totalism from 1968 until the fall of the communism in 1989. In the sixth part there is described the change in migration tendencies in the Czech lands after the fall of communistic government. The seventh part is the conclusion, where there are the findings summarized, the thesis is concluded by the list of used bibliography.
