The Representation of Russia in Teaching Sets for Teaching Russian at Secondary Schools and Students' Reflection

This diploma thesis deals with presentation of russian culture, life and institutions in teaching sets for teaching russian at czech high schools. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the role of russian language in the contemporary world and the history of teaching russian in the Czech republic, presents Curricular documents. The thesis also deals with the meaning of a teaching set during learning language and present teaching sets for teaching russian, which were analyzed as an instrument for teaching culture and acquiring of communication skills. The practical part of this thesis analyses the teaching files Радуга по- новому, Снова Класс! and Твой шанс and offers the complete summary of representation of russian culture in these teaching sets. The main aim of this thesis is to compare the image of Russian Federation in selected teaching sets with a real high school students' knowledge. The realised research shows that the students' knowledge are not noticeably different under the terms of type of high school or a teaching set that they use. The majority of responders made known that their teaching set includes enough information about culture, nevertheless their knowledge is not good. Non-fiction literature in teaching German as a foreign language in elementary schools on the example of working with Miroslav Sasek's book "To je Mnichov"/"München"

This diploma thesis deals with the use of non-fiction literature, specifically a visual guide titled To je Mnichov / München by Miroslav Sasek in teaching German as foreign language in primary schools. It consists of three parts, the first two being theoretical and the third one being practice-oriented. The first chapter delves into the general context of the issue and focuses on the position of the German language. It tackles four main aspects of teaching foreign language: the language as a communication medium, teaching grammer, uncovering culture and history and serving the general purpose of literary and intercultural education. The second chapter further follows the goal of seeing non-fiction literature as a potential source of knowledge and information about the country in focus. The third chapter presents an application of this theory, developer by the author of this thesis. The methodological approach is based on a document titled ABCD-Thesen published in 1990 in Leipzig which introduces the potential in using non-fiction literature in the form of projects. The last section of the thesis can also be used as a direct methododlogical manual for executing the project To je Mnichov / München in primary schools. Analysis of German textbook materials for lower - secondary schools from 90s up to now focusing on the development of composing realia

This thesis is concerned with the analysis of sets of German language textbooks intended for the second grade of elementary school dating from the nineties until now from the point of view of the historical development of the mediation of language culture and background. The theoretical part clarifies the terms substantial for the issue in question, it describes the historical development of language culture and background teaching, individual approaches to the mediation of language culture and background and while doing so, it follows the fundamental publications concerning the didactics of language culture and background and also crucial works regarding the analysis of textbook sets. The practical part describes the design of the research, its division to stages, the sample of the textbooks analysed and the establishing of the criteria according to which the textbooks will be analysed. On the basis of thus established criteria, nine textbook sets have been analysed. The method utilised was content and comparative analysis. Czech Praseology and Foreigners

In this thesis, we look into the level of knowledge of Czech phraseology of non-native speakers, namely Russian-speaking (Russophones). The objective is to investigate, using five case studies, what is the degree of knowledge of Czech phraseology, how the level of integration into the Czech society might influence their knowledge, or whether there may be any other relevant factors. By means of a semi-structured interview, these case studies describe respondents' language background which is later confronted with the research findings. In conclusion, results of the case studies are compared in order to identify tendencies and factors that might be significant for students when acquiring the idioms.
Life and Institutions in Czech Textbooks for Foreigners in Terms of Development of Intercultural Competence

Life and Institutions are some of the key factors of any culture. When it comes to successful communication with other cultures, Intercultural competence is crucial. The study of Life and Institutions should therefore by a mandatory part of teaching Czech as a foreign language. Based on extensive analysis, the thesis examines how Czech Life and Institutions are portrayed in select textbooks for foreigners reaching level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The outcome of the thesis is not only a detailed charting of Life and Institutions found in textbooks of Czech language for foreigners, but also a set of major findings based on the initially proposed questions. The analysis of textbooks is based on theoretical findings, which are introduced in the first part of the thesis and which form the necessary framework for the research part of the thesis. Language of SMS and French as a foreign language

in English with English title of the thesis: Language of SMS and French as a foreign language The central topic of the thesis is the language of short text messages (SMS) and/or the one of chat and their application in teaching of French as a foreign language (fr. abbreviation F.L.E., français langue étrangère). The aim is to answer the question so as to how to grasp linguo- didactically this modern sociolect of young users (not only) of French, typical of written communication via digital technologies, with the purpose of the purely practical use in the classes of French. Firstly, a linguistic description will be given in order to understand the mechanisms of the explored language code not only in French, but also partly in Czech and English, as well as the determination of the position of the SMS language as a socio-cultural phenomenon in the present-day French. The following research will be dealing with the identification and the analysis of the teaching activities using the SMS language found in approximately fifty text books of French intended for the learners of levels A1, A2, B1, B2. Modern Olympic Games and Their Presence in French Textbooks

The thesis deals with the significance of the modern Olympic Games for the French culture and with the use of this phenomenon in teaching French as a foreign language . It provides a brief historical summary of the Olympic games, focusing in particular on the personage of Pierre de Coubertin. It attempts to depict the role of the French language at the Olympic games, taking into account the increasing influence of the English language. The position of France towards this issue and a presumable future progress are also presented, based on available books, databases and on documents published by the International Olympic Committee and by the Olympic Museum (Lausanne). Moreover, the thesis examines the presence of this phenomenon in primary and secondary school textbooks. It also analyses its occurrence in the maturita tests. The didactic potential of the Olympic phenomenon is assessed. The thesis can thus serve as the basis for further use of this topic in French lessons. Realia in Textbooks of Czech for Foreigners

Resumé This master thesis is focused on description and summary of information about Czech culture and Czech character which may be met by foreigner in selected textbooks for foreigners. The goal is to determine whether and how these findings correspond to the research about Czech culture and differences between national cultures, done by some scientists. The aim is to provide information in which way are shown in selected textbooks topics as power distance, role of man an woman in society, how are in textbooks described people from the point of age, if there is taken shape of competitiveness or cooperation, how the Czech ethnics is described, view on own history, what is the image of foreigners in textbooks and how is presented Czech culture. Works wonders whether the manner and content of the information presented about Czech culture can be understood by a foreign ethnic group, which is currently living in the Czech Republic.
