Life satisfaction in somatic patients
Kolínová, Magdaléna ; Hrachovinová, Tamara (advisor) ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on evaluating changes in quality of life in overweight and obese persons. The theoretical part discusses quality of life, various aspects of obesity and the most relevant psychological context. The empirical part includes two studies: 1. Study in overweight / obese persons undergoing physical activity intervention - walking, lasting up to 1 year, and covering 24 female participants. The intervention resulted in a significant effect on the quality of life, assessed using the following instruments: IWQOL-Lite, OWLQOL and WRSM. 2. Study in overweight / obese persons undergoing STOB basic intervention lasting 12 weeks, and covering 17 female participants. The intervention resulted in a significant effect on the quality of life, assessed using the following instruments: IWQOL-Lite, OWLQOL and WRSM. Changes in self-esteem and self-efficacy were also assessed in this population using the instruments: RSE and GSE, respectively. Statistical significance was not achieved in either of these cases, although a trend toward change could be seen according to RSE and GSE, respectively. Keywords: Life satisfaction; quality of life; obesity; physical activity intervention; STOB

Chmurovský, Petr ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Skalská, Marie (referee)
Title:. Influence of physical activity on body fat reduction Objectives: The main aim of this thesis is to verify the effect of physical activity on body fat reduction compared with a diet. Methods: Literature search, creation of intervention programs and their implementation, data analysis and graphical presentation of results. Results: Changes in body composition among different groups was not statistically significant. Effect of physical activity on body fat reduction is not confirmed - this hypothesis has been rejected Key words: The exercise program, diet, body composition, gait, energy expenditure and intake, physical activity, motivation, reduction of subcutaneous fat, data collection and analysis, exercise and diet
Physical activity as a means of lifestyle change
David, Tomáš ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Hráský, Pavel (referee)
Thesis title: Physical activity as a means of lifestyle change Thesis objective: The objective of the thesis at hand was to verify effectiveness of the exercise program that leads to a change from predominantly sedentary lifestyle to an active one. Methods applied in the thesis: To find out the effectiveness of the controlled exercise intervention, it was applied, for three months, to a group of four persons (one male and three females, aged 28 to 36). The effectiveness was evaluated by exercise test in a laboratory run by FTVS UK in Prague. Outcome: The first proband managed to reduce the overall weight by 2 kg (i.e.2.65 %), out of which the percentage of body fat decreased by 11.82 % and the weight of fat-free matter increased by 0.2 kg (i.e.0.3 %). The ECM/BCM ratio increased by 0.04 (i.e. 4.7 %). The value of aerobic endurance VO2max increased by 8.9 ml.kg-1 .min-1 (i.e. 23.2 %). The running speed per one kilometre (min.km-1 ) at the anaerobic threshold level fell from the original 4:58 minutes to 4:30 minutes (acceleration of 28 seconds). Probands Nos. 2, 3 and 4 managed, on average, to increase their overall weight by 1.7 kg (i.e. 2.11 %), out of which the percentage of body fat increased by 3.07 % and the weight of fat-free matter increased, on average, by 0.73 kg (i.e. 1.11 %). The ECM/BCM...
Physical activity after the renal transplantation
Sýsová, Alena ; Mahrová, Andrea (advisor) ; Bartůňková, Staša (referee)
Introduction: Thanks to modern medicine people with chronic forms of the diseases can live longer than before. In this work we concerned with last stage of chronical kidney dinase, which is treated by dialysis or transplantation. Succesful renal transplantation leads to significant improvement in quality of life of patients, but after transplantation there are still some risk factors, which may influence health and physical condition of men. We can eliminace these risk factors with some non-pharmacological ways, for example with intervention program of regular physical activity and special nutrition, which can help to gain and increase patient`s physical condition. The main focus of research of this thesis was to evaluate physical condition and amount of physical aktivity of 4 groups of patients, each with another intervention, after renal transplant. We used the battery of motor tests "Senior Fitness Test Manual". Aim: Analyze, how regular physical activity, special nutrition and combination of both influence physical condition of patients after renal transplant. Methods: This research work is a part of the grant project IGA MZ CR 173 (NS-10518- 3/2009). We used 21 participants selected from patients of Nephrology Clinic TC IKEM in Prague for our solution. Physical fitness testing was performed...
Quality of life in renal transplant recipients and the possibilities of its affecting through different forms of intervention
Králová, Helena ; Mahrová, Andrea (advisor) ; Vaňous, František (referee)
Title: Quality of life in renal transplant recipients and the possibilities of its affecting through different forms of intervention. Aims: 1) To evaluate quality of life in renal transplant recipients and compare it with that of the general population. 2) To analyze effects of a 6 months controlled intervention exercise program, special diet, combination of special diet and exercise program and control group on the health related quality of life and to compare results between groups. Methods: We studied a composite group of 21 patients (mean age 58,4 9,34 years) after renal transplantation. Patients were randomly divided into four groups, each group had different program, as described above. The assessment of the quality of life was performed twice, before and after six months of a regular intervention program. We used standardized questionnaires KDQOL-SFTM . We have also assessed the importance of individual dimensions of quality of life with questionnaire WHOQOL - 100. Results were analyzed using descriptive statistics, non-parametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test and non-parametric Kruskal Wallis test. Statistically significance was considered on p ≤ 0,05. Results: After the pre-test and evaluation of the quality of life we assessed, that from 8 dimensions there were 5 lower after the...
