Non-Blocking Input/Output for the k-Wave Toolbox

This thesis deals with an implementation of non-blocking I/O interface for the k-Wave project, which is designed for time-domain simulation of ultrasound propagation. Main focus is on large domain simulations that, due to high computing power requirements, must run on supercomputers and produce tens of GB of data in a single simulation step. In this thesis, I have designed and implemented a non-blocking interface for storing data using dedicated threads, which allows to overlap simulation calculations with disk operations in order to speed up the simulation. An acceleration of up to 33% was achieved compared to the current implementation of project k-Wave, which resulted, among other things, also to reduce cost of the simulation.

This diploma thesis is concerned with research on available methods of plagiarism detection and then with design and implementation of such detector. Primary aim is to detect plagiarism within academic works or theses issued at BUT. The detector uses sophisticated preprocessing algorithms to store documents in its own corpus (document database). Implemented comparison algorithms are designed for parallel execution on graphical processing units and they compare a single subject document against all other documents within the corpus in the shortest time possible, enabling near real-time detection while maintaining acceptable quality of output.
The algorithms of digital image processing on graphics cards

Purpose of this work is show possibility of using grapichs cart for imaging a video signal. This work is particularly focused on technology CUDA and OpenCL. The solution is first focused on graphics cart and show how has been changed components and how has been changed performaces of graphics cart. Then show CUDA and OpenCL technology itself, and show samples of codes with explain, what which code do. Output of this work is some programs, witch defined for both technology and for both procesors unit. Contribution of this work is show differents between procesors unit, witch can be used to right choose for design your own algorithm.
Graphic Engine Based on Entity Component System

The goal of this bachelor thesis is the design and implementation of a library for entity management which allows software development using the Entity-Component-System paradigm. Analysis of the current state of software design is presented, including comparison of techniques used for entity representation. Potential advantages of composition are discussed from the hardware point of view, primarily based on the memory hierarchy found in modern computers. Thesis proposes design of an entity system, using the ECS paradigm, which allows dynamic composition of entities during runtime of application from predefined components. The resulting system is designed to allow for easy parallelization of performed actions and user customizability of component data structures. The result of this bachelor thesis is a C++ multi-platform library, named Entropy , which enables its users to design applications using the ECS paradigm.
Rendering of Voxel-Based Scenes Using Real-Time Ray Tracing

The aim of this work was to create a program to visualize voxel scenes in real time using ray tracing. It included the study of various methods of such a rendering with a focus on shadows. The solution was created using Unity engine and experimental packages Unity Jobs and Burst. The thesis presents multiple ray tracing passes and SVGF technique, that is used to turn a noisy input into full edge-preserving image. The final program is able to render hard shadows, soft shadows, and ambient occlusion at speed of fifty frames per second.
Design of Network Applications for a NetCOPE Platform

Monitoring and security in multigigabit networks with speeds 1 - 100 Gb/s needs hardware acceleration. NetCOPE platform for rapid development of network applications uses hardware acceleration card with FPGA technology by means of hardware/software codesign. Increas in performance of platform's software part is dependent of parallel processing in applications to take advantage of utilising more processor cores. This thesis analyses NetCOPE platform architecture and possibilities of parallelising classic network applications and creates models of concurrent access to data in NetCOPE platform to utilize more processor cores. These models are subsequently implemented as extensions to platform's Linux system drivers. Userspace libraries are created to provide simple interface for applications to use these new features. To achieve high throughput of this solution several optimizations are performed. Results are measured by created testing tools.
Parallelisation of Ultrasound Simulations on Intel Xeon Phi Accelerator

Nowadays, the simulation of ultrasound acoustic waves has a wide range of practical usage. As one of them we can name the simulation in realistic tissue media, which is successfully used in medicine. There are several software applications dedicated to perform such simulations. k-Wave is one of them. The computational difficulty of the simulation itself is very high, and this leaves a space to explore new speed-up methods. In this master's thesis, we proposed a way to speed-up the simulation based on parallelization using Intel Xeon Phi accelerator. The accelerator contains large amount of cores and an extra-wide vector unit, and therefore, is ideal for purpose of parallelization and vectorization. The implementation is using OpenMP version 4.0, which brings some new options such as explicit vectorization. Results were measured during extensive experiments.
Intertextuality in the works of John Fowles and Peter Ackroyd ; French Lieutenant's Woman and Dan Leno and the Limehouse Golem

The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to focus on the use of intertextuality in selected postmodern fiction and compare the ways in which it is presented in two novels written by the English authors, John Fowles and Peter Ackroyd. Their historical novels The French Lieutenant's Woman (1969) and Dan Leno and the Limehouse Golem (1994) take place during the British Victorian period and can be viewed as good examples of historiographical metafiction employing the narrative strategy of intertextuality.
