This bachelor thesis consists of two parts - translation of a French text into Czech and its commentary. The source text is composed of five chapters from the book Les systèmes de santé en Europe, the authors of this text are Marc Duriez and Diane Lequet-Slama. The commentary analyses the translated text and afterwards it presents the method of translation and also the translation procedures.

The first part contains a Czech translation of selected chapters from a booklet Berlin deutsch-türkisch: Einblicke in die neue Vielfalt by Dr Martin Greve and published in 2008 by The Berlin Senate Commissioner for Integration and Migration. The second part is dedicated to an analysis of the source text, mainly based on Christiane Nord's model, as well as to the presentation of the translation method, the typology of translation problems and their concrete solutions.
Translation of the French Novel Le dernier des nôtres

The master thesis treats about the multi awarded roman Le dernier des nôtres. This roman is the second written by the French novelist and journalist Adélaïde de Clermont-Tonnerre. The purpose of this thesis is the translation of some chapters of this roman into Czech language. On the following pages, we will focus on analyzing and professionally comment our way of translating. We will study the different elements composing the translation and the cultural specificities we had to consider while translating. Not less important was the general approach of theoretical translation processes and methodology, but also the problematics that could be faced by a translator. Theoretical chapters give a better understanding of translation discipline.
Translation and study of Crépuscules by Joël Casséus

This diploma thesis on Commented Translation of Joël Casséus' Crépuscules consists of translation of the first three chapters of the Quebec novel Crépuscules into the Czech language and subsequent expert commentary. This commentary focuses on the analysis of the novel genre that balances science fiction and modern myth, as well as the Christiane Nord analysis of the original text through which it explores external factors such as author, reader, intention, text function or its motive and intra-text factors such as theme and content, composition, nonverbal components, lexicon, syntax, and suprasegmental phenomena. Subsequently, in the commentary, we deal with translation problems, their solutions and applied translation procedures such as transposition, modification, compensation, generalization or specification.

Cílem této bakalářské práce je překlad technického textu z českého jazyka do anglického a okomentovat aspekty překladu a problémy s tím spojené. Vybraný text jsou elektronická skripta, sdílená na e-learningu a používána Vysokým Učením Technickým v Brně výhradně pro výukové účely v oboru mikroelektrotechnika. Teoretická část uvádí teorii překladu, její procedury, postupy a typy. Také obsahuje popis funkčních stylů, obzvláště stylu odborného. Praktická část je reprezentována překladem prvních dvou kapitol – Úvodem a technologií CMOS. Závěrečná – analytická část obsahuje komentáře různých problémů z odlišných lingvistických hledisek.
Problems of translation of proper nouns - contrastive analysis

The subject of this thesis is the problem with the translation of given names. The aim of this paper is to look at the most commonly used translation process based on the analyzed names. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part I will discuss proper ames and nouns from the perspectives of Czech ans Spanish grammar, and elaborate further into the widely used types of translation. I have chosen specific names for the practical analysis myself. In conclusion, the findings are analysed and based on the evaluation conclyded. The work is written in Czech language.

Romanisms in the terminology of the New Civil Code and their French equivalents

This work is concerned with romanisms which appear in the terminology of Nový občanský zákoník (Czech Civil Code) and with translation of selected terms into French while special attention is paid to legal concepts. The first chapters deal with the themes of legal language and its translation, translation techniques, loanwords in the Czech language, and romanisms. The following chapter describes the research and the methodology, in addition to analyse of the received results from the perspective of found romanisms and from the perspective of searching appropriate French equivalents. The output of this thesis is a glossary which contains the selected terms and the proposed French translations.

In my bachelor thesis, I translate a story from English into Czech. It is called The Irrationality of Alcoholics Anonymous and was written by Gabrielle Glaser. The story was published in 2015. Its main subject is the inefficiency of Alcoholics Anonymous in the USA. The text presents more modern and effective ways of treatment. The thesis consists of two parts - translation and commentary - which consist of analysing the original text and typology of translation problems and shifts. In the first part, I translate selected parts of the story. In the proces, I focus on the main functions of the text and preserve the dominant function of the original. I try to convey the message in such a way which would be understandable for the receiver. I also aim at writing a text which would allow the reader to clearly grasp the concept. The second part is theoretical. I write up a fictitious translation assignment. I comment on the stylistics of the original and, consequently, analyse the internal and external factors of the original text according to Christiane Nord examining the lexis, syntax and pragmatics of the original. I present a translation strategy which I follow in my translation. I put forward the more serious and interesting translation problems and shifts and their solution. I analyse them according...
