Feminism in The Scarlet Letter and comparing Hester Prynne with Margaret Fuller's writings in Woman in the Nineteenth Century
KONOPKOVÁ, Tereza
This thesis explores the issue of Feminism as one of the approaches to Hester Prynne from Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel The Scarlet Letter. The novel is considered feminist not only because of how Hester is portrayed in the book, but also because it was written during the rise of the feminist movement and also because Hawthorne was close to Margaret Fuller who was one of the leading feminists of her day. Having compared notes from Fuller's Woman in the Nineteenth Century and having discussed other approaches to the novel, this paper shows that Hester Prynne, although she does show signs of it, is not as much a feminist rather than a transcendentalist. This judgment is evident when the reader realizes Hester did not change how society views independent women pursuing their goals, but rather trying to live for herself in harmony with God and nature.
Internal Political Development in Montenegro - From the Fall of Yugoslavia to Independence
Lucovič, Matěj ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hofmeisterová, Karin (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the events that led to the declaration of independence of the state of Montenegro. The aim of the thesis was to determine factors, which influenced the internal political development in Montenegro and to what extent the crisis and the disintegration of Yugoslavia, the rise and rule of Milo Đukanović, the Montenegrin-Serbian national question and the very coexistence of the two republics in one state were involved. The thesis traced the development of Montenegro from the death of Josip Broz Tito in 1980, which launched the end of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, to the declaration of Montenegrin independence in 2006. It turned out that the personality of Milo Đukanović and his political actions played a big role, transforming his political career from a communist prominent into a hegemon of Montenegrin politics in resistance to Serbian pressure, especially from the parties of the local leader Slobodan Milošević. The complexity of the problem, which consists primarily in the multitude of variables and the interconnectedness of events, became apparent in the search for an answer to the research question.

Kurdistan Regional Government: Internal Constrains and Failed Quest for Independence
Hussein, Nuha ; Doboš, Bohumil (advisor) ; Riegl, Martin (referee)
Since 2003, Iraq went into a significant shift of political authority in which many political parties fighting for leadership failed to keep peace in the region; however, for many - like ruling parties in Kurdistan Region of Iraq - a golden compass was in the pot to gain more authority high political positions in the region. The new Iraqi Constitution recognized KRG as an autonomous entity of Iraq, and Kurdish politicians were taking high political positions within the new Iraqi government. Despite these achievements, the political instability post-Iraq War remained and was shaped by internal factors like security, economy, and unresolved issues over disputed territories. Regional and international interventions also had a hand in these internal conflicts. For Kurdistan Regional Government, the question of Kurdish statehood never dissipated. The internal political setting post-2010 provided an environment of possible Kurdish statehood - or at least as the Kurdish leaders anticipated. In 2017, the KRG went for an unsupported referendum of independence that soon shifted the political dynamic between Kurdish parties and Baghdad into a turmoil of power struggle. The thesis builds a comprehensive discussion of factors of internal conflict in the KRG and analyzes how these internal disputes affected...

Horáčková, Eliška ; Klinka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Biegel, Madeleine (referee)
The bachelor thesis primarily deals with the process of colonization and decolonization of the Maghreb countries, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. It also presents the general reasons leading France to colonize other territories and briefly describes how the settlement of the African continent took place. The work further outlines the main problems that have resulted from the colonization and that Africa is dealing with today, but it also addresses the benefits that brought the French presence in Africa. The work also briefly discusses the form of compensations that France provides to the now independent states. At the end of the thesis, there is an overview of the teaching materials available on the Internet devoted to the topic of colonization of the Maghreb countries. The number of materials is assessed by the author of the work as insufficient. The main goal and contribution of the work is the collection of all essential information about the colonization of countries in North Africa. The work therefore serves as a good starting material for teachers who are interested in the political development of the African continent and who would like to lead their students to intercultural education in French language classes. Dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1992
Křivánek, Adam ; Lovaš, Karol (advisor) ; Gulda, Jana (referee)
My bachelor thesis deals with the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1992. Its main part is a radio podcast with a total length of twenty-five minutes and fifty-two seconds, and it aims to bring the complex subject matter to generations born after the events of the early 1990s. In the output, however, I do not only focus on events closely associated with this particular historical period. Instead, from the position of a narrator, based on the knowledge of a high school student, I go through the history of the Czech and Slovak Republics. In doing so, I am looking in particular for the causes and consequences of the dissolution. But in order to avoid plain and boring narrative, my speech is supplemented by numerous archive records and background music. In addition, the podcast is interspersed with answers to my questions from the relevant experts. In an interview recorded especially for this thesis, a historian clarifies key historical contexts and a former high-ranking politician outlines the moods that moved society at the time. A theoretical section also accompanies the work. One of its purposes is to explain what the term podcast means and why I have chosen this particular format. Another is to place the relations between the Czech and Slovak nations in the necessary historical context. Thus, the...

Řezníček, Jakub ; Lizcová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Nigrin, Tomáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis is about the Energiewende process (energy transformation from fossil and nuclear energy sources to renewable resources) and the use of renewable energy resources in German municipalities - how they obtain it and use the funds they get from the operation of renewable sources. The first part of the thesis deals with the description of the Energiewende process - what strategy the current german government of the SPD, Greens and FDP (2022) presented in the coalition agreement, what are the German emission targets and energy mix and describes some problems that accompany this process. The second part deals with the use of renewable resources directly in individual German municipalities. The work builds on the research question "How do German municipalities obtain and use renewable energy?" The used method is a case study, which compares three German municipalities from different federal states - Feldheim (Brandenburg), Wildpoldsried (Bavaria) and Sprakebüll (Schleswig - Holstein). They have built renewable energy resources (wind and solar power plants and biogas stations) on their territory, thanks to which they can now be 100% energy independent. The finances that municipalities derive from fees and from renewable energy trading are invested in local development. These villages...
