Šírková, Kateřina ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Oplatek, Jiří (advisor)
The New Town Hall for Brno Sever is located in a dominant position at the centre of a new residential development at the site of the former barracks. The design seeks to fulfill the principles of a citizen-friendly city hall and Vitruvius perfect scale of construction, durability, utility and beauty. A design is clear, beauty can be an application of timeless solution based on the purpose and simplicity of forms. Permanence means a building capability to respond flexibly to changes in the territory, legislation and society. From the square a visitor passes through a wide portal into the inner public space in to which galleries and offices are open. The most frequently used functions are concentrated in the inner parterre. The building includes all workplaces required by a construction workplan and also a ceremonial hall, restaurant, exhibition space in the atrium and a so- called company nursery for employees' children, where it is possible a short-term babysitting for children of the town hall visitors.
Senior citizens home Sokolnice
Vávra, Vít ; Šindlar, Jiljí (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The area of the former barracks lies near Sokolnice falling into the periphery of Brno. It is a picturesque village that has a rich history. The barracks are located on a hill called Stará hora, there are several cadastral areas. Near the building, we can find a radar that manages the nearby Brno airport, or the Peace Mound built on the Prateck Hill, soldiers fall to remembrance. The design principle was based on the given operation and its related functions. Dining room, rehabilitation, barber, pedicure, buffet and, last but not least, a multifunctional hall with a small library. The destruction of the unnecessary transformer station and the replenishment of the mass was a logical solution to the situation. It is an assembled reinforced concrete frame 8x8m. Inside the half-block we find a terrace with a pool, which is trying to create a specific microclimate and humidify the surroundings. The pool also serves as a retention tank and the house effectively manages rainwater. Within the lifetime, because of the corrosion of reinforced concrete and the unclear condition of the structure, I designed the exterior cladding to demolish and build a new cladding, a brick made of ceramic blocks. The house is designed in a minimalist spirit and cooperates with the greenery in its surroundings. Especially in long-distance views of integration into the landscape, this greenery is valued. The spirit of place in heavy air bears a strange whiff of dragging death that, when thinking about the history of a place, froze and freezes ... so perhaps while resting before the last journey ... that house discourages and breathes a little life into dying ...

The main architectural motif of the contrast vertical and horizontal. Vertical - a tower that will house the town hall, the dominant element in the area, and therefore represents well the importance of the city hall within the district. This importance is enhanced by the location of the tower on the corner. Calm horizontal volume cultural center follows the street line and thus defines a new public spaces, including a new town hall square. The unifying element of the two buildings is a double facade of white aluminum fins.

On site is not proposed just quiet residential neighborhood, but also city hall, shops, college dorm, primary school and kindergarten, creating a balanced unit communicating with the surrounding area.
Design of sustainable urban structure of the 21st century in the Czech Republic
Krčková, Zuzana ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The topic of the thesis is a design of an urban structure fitting into the 21st century amidst former military barracks in Brno Černá Pole. The area is square-shaped and defined by the borders of the streets Provazníkova, Mathonova, Bieblova, and Generála Píky. The area is currently divided among three owners: Ministry of Defence & Armed Forces, Resort of Justice, and National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB). The premise of the thesis is to build a new city quarter which would provide Brno's citizens with housing solutions, job opportunities, cultural and leisure centres not only for the new but also for the current inhabitants. The design includes also several blocks which aggregate multiple functions: housing, commercial premises, and administrative buildings. Generous volume of space has been given to public spaces, most prominently a square with a new town hall for Brno-sever, culture centre and a park. The examined area is situated between two busy roads which is why designing a suitable connection of the area and the overall traffic situation within the area was essential. This thesis aims to unify the area, cut short the traffic connections and create a compact city quarter close to the centre of Brno.
