Audio inpainting algorithms
Bartlová, Hana ; Veselý, Vítězslav (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with audio inpainting problem. Firstly, basic concepts are summarized. Then, sparse representation of signals is introduced along with several algorithms. In the main part dedicated to the audio inpainting, the problem is defined and actual methods are presented and compared. The newest approach using the harmonic strucure of sound signals is then introduced, followed by several experiments and evaluation. Lastly, an algorithm ensuring the maximal computational efficiency is derived.
Knowledge representation methods
Verbík, Josef ; Polách, Petr (referee) ; Jirsík, Václav (advisor)
This thesis deals with methods of knowledge representation within expert systems. The thesis describes the expert systems and their history. Furthermore, it provides a description of individual types of expert systems and their components. Following this description, there is a characteristic of the knowledge representation. These characteristic has been divided into two parts. The first part describes the requirements neccessary for efficient knowledge representation. The second part describes the following individual methods of knowledge representation: rules, frames, semantic nets and predicate logic.
Design and analysis of braking system for cultivator trailer
Dey, Arpan ; Kříž, Jakub (referee) ; Zeizinger, Lukáš (advisor)
A pneumatic drum brake system for a cultivator trailer consists of several components, including the brake drum, brake shoes, pneumatic actuator, air compressor, air reservoir, and control valve. Once the brake pedal is pressed by the driver, the control valve releases compressed air from the air reservoir into the pneumatic actuator (slave cylinder). The actuator converts the air pressure into mechanical force, which pushes the brake shoes against the inner surface of the brake drum. This generates friction, which slows down and stops the trailer. The brake drum is attached to the cultivator trailer's wheel hub and rotates with it. The brake shoes are mounted on a stationary backing plate and positioned inside the brake drum. They are curved to match the contour of the drum's inner surface, maximising the contact area between the shoes and the drum. The air compressor is responsible for supplying compressed air to the system. It draws in air from the environment and compresses it to a much higher pressure, which is stored in the air reservoir. The control valve regulates the flow of air between the reservoir and the actuator, depending on the driver's input (pedal pressure). Overall, the pneumatic drum brake system provides a reliable and effective means of controlling the speed and stopping the cultivator trailer, particularly in heavy-duty applications where high braking forces are required.
The civil rights movement in Northern Ireland and its portrayal in the local periodical
Brčáková, Anna ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Šlosarčík, Ivo (referee)
The presented bachelor thesis concerns the topic of the media image of the civil rights movement in Northern Ireland in the local period press. The method of qualitative analysis and concept of frames is being used for the examination of the articles dealing with the five chosen important events in the period of the movement in the years 1968 and 1969. The events consist of the Caledon protest, the first civil rights march, the civil rights march in Derry/Londonderry, the announcement of a reform five-point plan, and the march of the People's Democracy. The thesis aims to explore the differences in the media coverage of these events in the periodicals of various socio-political orientations. Therefore, the selected newspapers include the most read titles with different editorial policies - traditional unionist leaning The News Letter (Belfast Newsletter), nationalist The Irish News, and liberal unionist The Belfast Telegraph. The analysis takes into consideration the amount, length, and placement of the articles, which indicates the level of importance of the event for the periodical. The main focus, however, is dedicated to the stance of the newspapers on the movement. Therefore, a system of categories is used to indicate sympathy or antipathy for the events. Moreover, the frames used for the...
Political discourse of infertility in the years 1989 - 2012 in the Czech Republic
Kostelecká, Hana ; Dudová, Radka (advisor) ; Vávra, Martin (referee)
This thesis describes and analyses discourses that preceded the legislation changes regarding assisted reproduction in connection with setting an upper age limit for women who are undergoing assisted reproduction treatments in socialist system as well as in democratic system. This work defined discourses of both political systems compares with the accent on governmentality as a tool for population control. This analysis is valuable primarily because of describing principles of working the whole "system of assisted reproduction" and provides insight into the political discourse of infertility, respective on its part concerning the Czech legislation taking into account the phenomenon of reproductive tourism. No one from the topics - both the political discourse of infertility then the reproductive tourism have not had been in the Czech literature written up yet. The work shows the establishment of proper parenting standards in the political discourse through the topic of artificial insemination. Key words Infertility, assisted reproduction, reproductive tourism, discourse, frames, normality of motherhood, prekarization of infertility, governmentality, biopower, Michel Foucault
Media Bias and Framing Analysis of Local Media and Foreign Based Media coverage on the case of " Rohingya: Gambia files case against Myanmar at International Court of Justice"
Soe, Phoo Pyae Pyae Soe ; Shavit, Anna (advisor) ; Vochocová, Lenka (referee)
This study offers the framing analysis of local and foreign-based media on the coverage of "Rohingya: Gambia files case against Myanmar at ICJ" for over nine months period and examines the bias in their new contents and attention to the case. Evaluation of the number of coverage published by each media shows that local media do not pay as much attention as foreign-based media, and undermines the seriousness of the issue. Moreover, the finding highlights that the news representation of local media is evidently in favor of the Myanmar government in support of iconic national leader - Aung San Suu Kyi while abetting in covering up the violent action of the Myanmar military. Findings also suggest that foreign- based media covered the case most with genocide frame whereas self-defense frame was the most popular one in the coverage of local media. This study employed comparative content analysis to detect the bias and observe the different framings of media. Keywords: Bias, Frames, media frames, Framing theory, Myanmar, Rakhine, Bangladesh.
Analysis of Wi-Fi traffic
Bakó, Zdeněk ; Pospíšil, Ondřej (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the capture and analysis of wireless traffic of Wi-Fi networks. The aim of this work is to describe the possibilities of capturing and analyzing the operation of Wi-Fi networks. It describes the IEEE 802.11 standard, its features such as architecture and current standards. A selection of a suitable router is performed on which traffic capture and analysis is performed. Some open-source firmware for routers is compared and the most suitable one is selected. Tools for capturing and analyzing Wi-Fi network traffic are compared and described. The differences between the promiscuous and monitoring capture mode and their possibilities of use are described. Finally, there are described options for analyzing captured 802.11 frames.
Modern methods for restoration of degraded audiosignals
Mokrý, Ondřej ; Koldovský,, Zbyněk (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
The master's thesis deals with the problem of restoring a block of missing samples in a digital audio signal. This problem is formulated as an optimization task, which seeks the sparsest time-frequency representation of a signal within the set of feasible reconstructed signals. Several particular formulations are discussed, namely the analyzing and the synthesizing model, both for convex and non-convex approaches. Suitable algorithms are proposed for solving these formulations, and in the convex case, the method is further enhanced by various procedures to compensate for the energy drop in the inpainted signal segment. The proposed algorithms are tested on real recordings, and their performance is shown to be competitive with the state-of-the-art.
