The Stirling Thermodynamic Cycle
Macháček, Jan ; Sokanský, Karel (referee) ; Kyncl, Jan (referee) ; Gregor, Jan (advisor)
My doctoral thesis deals with study and analyse of Stirling thermodynamical cycle. Cycle that is composed of two isochoras and two isotherms. I describe functional principle of Stirling engine and all its parts, constructional variations of pistons system and possible engine working modes. Next chapter contains analyse of engine constructional parameters. Measuring of torque and load characteristics, p - V schemes and output work for various engine inputs is part of this analyse. There is composed mathematical engine characterization by means of Schmidt theory in chapter five. Mathematical characterization is consequently applied to engine model. Theoretical analysis and practical measurement were base for concepts, realization and verification of constructional correction. One part of my thesis is attended to design of new lamella for regenerative exchanger. For optimal lamella constructional proportions were used computational algorithm and simulations. There is concept of cogeneration unit with Stirling engine and its benefits check in last chapter. General theoretical and practical analyse of workable Stirling engine is result of my thesis. Analyse in this extent was not nowhere publishing yet. Design of regenerative exchanger lamella is then practical input of my thesis.

Environment-Friendly Housing in Rural Areas
Čáslava, Petr ; RNDr.Jiří Svoboda,CSc.,DSc. (referee) ; Hudec, Mojmír (referee) ; Gaillyová, Yvonna (referee) ; Urbášková, Hana (advisor)
While I spent 7 years of study, experience and dedication to this work, the building construction has passed evolution from construction boom to contemporary building crisis. Demand for cheap building construction, materials and family housing increased sharply. Energy prices are rising every year... It seems that we will all have to deal with our essential task today or in the near future . This task is mean to prevent the current rate of degradation and destruction of our planet's climate and our environment. In this point of view, it looks the question of energy-saving construction very topical. By entering the study was to examine the possibilities of environmental friendly housing in rural areas in terms of environmental issues. My hypothesis was if can I determine the suitable candidate for the construction of passive houses themselves by comparing their characteristic of pre-defined construction samples. My objective is to offer builders and designers overview of suitable building systems with the possibility to compare the various factors influencing the decision on the selection of a builder´s construction for a house. The thesis presents the comparison of seven structural systems as a basic element of architecture. In the implementation of energy-efficient house is an architectural form often conditioned by structure. For this reason it is necessary to offer this kind of overview with options and parameters of individual building systems, which can then be used by architect to design a house for the builder - free and easy realization of his own, let´s say DIY (do it yourself). For builders (mean investors) of DIY houses is economy and finance a crucial question, therefore, for this reason I will evaluate suitable building system which is relative performance vs. price in the end. It is necessary to take into account the architecture of the house and especially the space layout and design and the attitude with the context of the rural areas environment. My pupose was to prove that good architectural design can be used with of low-cost, energy-saving and environmental friendly house built in DIY way.

Underground on the hill? Interfaces and differences between the underground and the Hanspaul movement
Melichar, Dominik
The underground, especially the music scene is a relatively closed community connected mainly with the names of Ivan Martin Jirous, Egon Bondy and the The Plastic People of the Universe band, to which a whole range of activities of other individuals and groups scattered all over the country are connected. The Hanspaulka movement, which dates its beginnings to 1966, peaked in the late 1970s and gradually declined in the mid-1980s, has not yet been thought of in connection with the underground. The aim of these reflections was to point out the connections, but also the differences, between the two communities and thus point out the problematic nature of isolating the underground movement from a much wider environment of other unofficial and non-state-controlled activities.
Our estranged spaces
Jelínková, Anna ; Štojdl, Václav (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
The project is a continuation of the pre-diploma thesis, which was focused on urban voids and "vacant" spaces in the city centre of Chrudim. To understand the urban voids it utilizes Ignasi de Sol-Morales' Terrain vague concept, which questions the emptiness of such spaces. From the perspective of economic yield, the empty spaces may lie outside the systemic circuits of the city, but at the same time they are certainly not without any content. Examples include urban wilderness in the form of encroachments and R-ecosystems that take hold there, or various non-systemic activities for which there is no space left elsewhere. In their ambivalence between emptiness and content, such places embody the possibility of a systemic alternative that has not yet been defined. The diploma thesis then explores the idea of whether the principles of vagueness can be applied to the search for alternative forms of living and coliving.
Becoming Bodies: An Ethnographic study of Ayurvedic Practice
Wolfová, Alžběta ; Bittnerová, Dana (advisor) ; Holmerová, Iva (referee) ; Horák, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis introduces a critical analysis of a self-proclaimed alternative to modernity. Based on a case of selected, so-called non-conventional medicine within the context of the Czech Republic between 2013 and 2017, I explore how a specific bodily practice like Ayurveda works in this environment. Since it is sought and employed in the everyday lives of an increasing number of people, even in such modestly sized post-socialist country, it resembles similar tendencies generally described in the globalized world (especially from the middle class upwards) in recent decades. Drawing upon (auto)ethnographic research, which originated at a school for future Ayurvedic practitioners and continued into informal meetings- sometimes at the homes of practitioners, I introduce Ayurveda as a specific way of body becoming. Starting with how the body and wellbeing is discursively established within the space of schools, I nevertheless focus mostly on individual practice. I look at how Ayurvedic epistemology is employed and how it enables recognition of one's own body, and subjectivity as interconnected with the surrounding environment. I follow how, as a result of this process, this recognition conditions a certain self- empowerment, especially regarding the establishment or maintenance of one's own wellbeing. I...
Patients admissions to the therapy of Asthma Bronchial
BUBNOVÁ, Marie
This bachelor thesis deals with the problematics of pacients admissions to the therapy of Asthma Bronchiale. Bronchial asthma is a chronic respiratory disease and is incurable. Bronchial asthma is a disease that is characterized by strenuous respiratory dyspnea along with bronchial hyperreactivity. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to map the approach of patients to the treatment of bronchial asthma. Second aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out different approaches of treatment of patients with bronchial asthma. The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis describes bronchial asthma itself and the possibilities of its treatment. The most common medications for bronchial asthma are bronchodilators and antiasthmatic medicaments. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes alternative medicine that is connected to bronchial asthma and risk factors that contribute to the development of the disease. The aims of the work were achieved through a qualitative research survey, the aim of this work was to map the approach of patients to the treatment of Asthma Bronchiale and to determine the use of different methods (approaches) of treatment of Asthma Bronchiale. The tented research questions were answered on the basis of a research survey. The qualitative survey took the form of a semi-structured interview. A semi-structured interview was conducted with patients in the pulmonary outpatient clinic, and with the medical chief. The semi-structured interview mapped how often patients use prescribed medication for bronchial asthma and overall patients approaches to treating bronchial asthma. The results of the research survey point out that half of the interviewed patients use alternative medicine along with prescribed medication. The other half of the patients prefer using only prescribed medication. Part of the research survey is an interview with the medical head of the surgery that is added at the end of the survey.
