The use of asphalt recycled materials in the base and subbase layers of pavements
Tanečková, Pavlína ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
This thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part gathers available information on the current state of construction and demolition waste management. This part discusses foreign experiences with SDW management, provides basic information on the introduction of circular economy. Equally important is the environmental impact, which is discussed from the perspective of Decree No 283/2023 Coll. It also provides basic information on construction and demolition waste and describes the recycling process. It also discusses the most common types of recyclates and their use in roads. The practical part of this thesis verifies the possibilities of using asphalt recyclates and their mixtures cemented with asphalt emulsion or hydraulic binder. The main objective was to verify the possibilities of using these recyclates in cemented subbase layers for urban roads. These possibilities were verified and then compared by means of laboratory tests. Finally, a comparison of cemented mixtures of asphalt recyclates with specific binder dosage and low temperature heating of the mixture for optimum compaction to the desired strength values using recyclates is made.
The possibility of using recycled concrete for the production of structural concrete
Pijáčková, Erika ; Křížová, Klára (referee) ; Hela, Rudolf (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of recycled concrete aggregate and its use in the field of structural concrete. The aim of the work was to describe the possibility of complete or partial replacement of natural aggregates with recycled concrete aggregates for concretes of strength classes C16/20 to C30/37. The theoretical part is composed of findings from both domestic and foreign research and legislation, which were used to evaluate the possibility of more frequent use of recycled concrete aggregates in civil engineering in the Czech Republic. The experimental part consists of the design of concrete recipes with natural and concrete recycled aggregates and their economic evaluation.

Běluša, Jiří ; Michele, Jiří (referee) ; Škopán, Miroslav (advisor)
This thesis contains design of a screening bucket used as an attachment for an excavator. Research section consists of construction and demolition waste sorting process, recycling options and design examples of screening buckets. Next part of the thesis includes own design of a screening bucket, calculations and finite element analysis using a computer program.
Mixed builging recycled material for pavement subgrades
Masař, Daniel ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The Bachelor thesis is focused on the use of mixed building recycled material for pavement subgrades. The theoretical part describes the production and usability of recycled building materials and also the economic evaluation against commonly used natural materials. The main point of the theoretical part is the use of mixed recycled material in the subsoil of roads with increased attention to the use in the active zone of road. It also describes laboratory tests that are important for evaluating the qualities of recycled materials and problematic qualities that can affect the life of a construction work. In a separate chapter, it presents foreign experience with the use of recycled building materials for building transport structures. The practical part verifies the suitability of mixed building recycled material to the active zone of road by tests of the California bearing ratio, soil freezing rate and crushing resistance by Los Angeles.
Optimization of recycled concrete materials from precast concrete elements and their characteristics for building information model
Venkrbec, Václav ; Mésároš,, Peter (referee) ; Šuhajda, Karel (referee) ; Henková, Svatava (advisor)
The dissertation thesis deals with the use of recycled concrete aggregates obtained from deconstructed parts of a precast panels’ apartment building. Furthermore, the work presents an optimization supplier-logistics algorithm to achieve a wider application of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) in structural concrete in a new building. As part of the newly developed optimization algorithm of ready-mixed concrete suppliers, non-graphical data from the building information model (BIM) were intensively used. The work also addresses the transfer of data from and back to the information model and the definition of characteristics needed to optimize the entire process. At the theoretical level, the work deals with a comprehensive literature review of the above-mentioned fields. The experimental part of the work is focused on materials research carried out in order to verify the suitability of a particular type of RAC for structural use. The work introduces the procedures and test results of two types of recycled aggregates and then presents a range of recycled concrete recipes with partial replacement of aggregates for RCAs, obtained from prefabricated panels of high-rise buildings. The gained test results show the technical suitability of the tested RCA sources for producing medium-strength structural RAC. A significant part of the analytically oriented experimental part of the work is the logistic optimization scenario with its own matrix-based discrete algorithm and economic graphical evaluation. The case study examines the relevance of the proposed algorithm on a real scenario, namely the construction of the scientific technology institute CEITEC in Brno. Furthermore, the work summarizes the issue of BIM and presents a methodology for handling non-graphical information of the building model to define the characteristics of recycled concrete in buildings. The conclusions are addressed both for practice and for the development of scientific disciplines. The work provides
Use of waste building materials to roads
Průdková, Hana ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
This thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part collects available information on the current state of construction and demolition waste management. This section discusses demolition work, provides basic information on construction and demolition waste, and describes the recycling process. It also includes the most used types of recycled materials and their use in the roads. The thesis also explains the importance of the circular economy and compares prices of recycled and natural aggregates. The conclusion of the theoretical part is supplemented by foreign experiences. The practical part of this thesis focuses on the possibility of using concrete, asphalt and brick recycled and their mixtures cemented with hydraulic binders. The main goal was to verify the possibilities of using these recycled materials in the cemented base layers of roads. These options were verified and subsequently compared using laboratory tests. In the conclusion, there is an economic comparison of the use of recycled materials.
Development of concrete recipes with recycled brick aggregates as partial or complete substitutes for natural aggregatesDevelopment of concrete recipe
Pijáčková, Erika ; Uher, Vojtěch (referee) ; Hela, Rudolf (advisor)
The master thesis is focused on the issue of using recycled brick aggregate in structural concrete. The theoretical part summarizes knowledge of the properties of recycled bricks, their preparation and production, and legislative restrictions for their use in structural concrete. The properties and utilization of concrete with recycled brick aggregate are also described. In the experimental part, the properties of recycled bricks are investigated considering to their use in concrete, and based on the results of these properties, recipes for concrete with brick recycles and reference concretes are proposed. The aim of the experimental part was to verify the resulting properties of concrete and their use for construction purposes. Furthermore, as part of the experimental part of the work, an economic balance sheet was made to compare the prices of reference concrete and concrete with recycled brick aggregates.
