Liberal Critique and Reforms of Welfare State - The Case of Chile's Pension Reform
Žídek, Bohumír ; Angelovská, Olga (advisor) ; Potůček, Martin (referee)
My master thesis explores classical liberal attitudes towards the Welfare State. It deals especially with concepts developed by the so-called new classical liberals (also called neoclassical liberals) represented by scholars of the Arizona School. I use their ideas to reconstruct free-market liberal theory of social justice, which is then applied to pension reforms in Chile and Sweden. The thesis also recollects critiques of public pension systems by public choice theory scholars, which are then used to explore a nature of the aforementioned pension reforms. In cases of both reforms, these theoretical frameworks are used to evaluate data obtained by a desk research. Relevant documents and also data of international organizations and national statistical offices were used. In its last part, the thesis evaluates primary data obtained by semi-standardized interviews with seven Czech classical liberals and explores their attitudes towards both the free market liberal theory of social justice and pension reforms in Chile and in Sweden. Abstrakt Diplomová práce zkoumá vztah klasického liberalismu k sociálnímu státu. Zabývá se zejména koncepty vyvinutými takzvanými novými klasickými liberály reprezentovanými především badateli arizonské školy. Jejich ideje využívám k rekonstrukci tržně liberální teorie...
Attitudes of the Czech Political Parties with Respect to Public Job
Šlechtová, Markéta ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Novotný, Vilém (referee)
1 Due to the high public expenses connected with the classic welfare and other reasons, the European countries including the Czech Republic adopted certain measures falling within the workfare concept. One of them is the public service, which is construed as a help activity in favour of a municipality consisting in publicly beneficial services. The public service rule was enacted into Czech law in 2008 and has undergone several changes since that time. These changes resulted in the current legislation which became effective on 1 February 2017. According to the Advocacy Coalition Framework, it is possible within a policy subsystem to identify certain beliefs of the policy actors and their advocacy coalitions. This bachelor thesis aims to identify the beliefs of the political parties within the policy subsystem of public service in the Czech Republic with the focus on the policy core beliefs and to determine their advocacy coalitions in this subsystem.

HALO, Dagmar
Bachelor thesis is designed as a literature review dealing with the theory of feminist psychology. This is a specific area of psychology established itself in the '70s of last century in the second wave of feminism, which represents the main theoretical background. The central concern is reflection and examining the position of the individual within society in the context of gender and its impact on the development of the human personality and its mental health. This paper summarizes the theory of feminist psychology, demonstrating the selected theoretical concepts through major theoretical pillars of this applied psychological discipline and seeks to critically explore the structure and position of this subfield in relation to mainstream psychology. Housing policy, social and spatial justice: new public housing construction in Czechia
Matoušek, Roman ; Sýkora, Luděk (advisor) ; Kostelecký, Tomáš (referee) ; Rochovská, Alena (referee)
A just society, as understood in this thesis, has to deal with several challenges. The society needs to address injustuces which arise from unequal participation on economic system, from cultural (discoursive) practices and from imperfections of democratic participation. Moreover, it has to deal with spatial dimensions of social processes and with variety of geographical contexts. This thesis draws on critical social science traditions. Beside scientific constribution, the aim of the thisis is to point out some hidden or omitted social problems and injustices. In Czechia, transformation processes after 1989 led among other results to increasing income differentiation and discrimination of some population groups. In the housing sector, these processes resulted in creation of segregated socially excluded localities. Devolution of housing policies to local/municipal level created an opportunity for solving these problems with respect to local circumstances. These activities could be supported by the program of new rental housing construction for population with limited income which was provided by the State Fund of Housing Development. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, this thesis answers the question on (i) where was new public housing constructed, (ii) what were the motives of...
Prestige and social stratification in Czech society between 1988-1999
Křepelková, Zuzana ; Duffková, Jana (advisor) ; Buriánek, Jiří (referee)
In 1989 the Czech history was significant for the revolution which meant that Czech society has shifted toward the east to west. The company which prevailed in the egalitarian principles finds itself face to face with the reality of the Western World where their orientation did not belong. In the opinion of people still persisted not only a desire for social security but also a certain amount of indignation over the rapidly growing income differentiation, which was reflected negative evaluation of wealthier people - a role also played a series of scandals (tunneling and rapid collapse of the newly establishing businesses). The Czech company was prior to the1989 only minimally stratified. After the revolution was necessary to create a new elite, the middle class and in parallel to create the new bottom layer. Dynamic development was the emerging middle class old (enterpriser), more gradually evolved a new middle class (professionals with university education) whose conversion is a matter of several generations. Compare prestige (at the time of transform and in front of it) must be used as the default range of 1967 because this is the last range created in communist Czechoslovakia. Communist society was a static society and therefore we believe that stratification in 1989 has not changed. On top...
