Testing possibilities to extract selected landscape characteristics for description of indication-relevant bird species habitats in the Krkonoše Mts. from remote sensing data

The thesis uses remote sensing data from two spatial scales (Sentinel-2 with a 10 x 10 m pixel and PlanetScope 3 x 3 m. It explores the possibilities of extracting selected landscape characteristics (spectral indices, land cover type, landscape metrics). In order to evaluate which characteristics and at what scale are statistically significant for the occurrence of 23 selected bird species, species richness in quadrats and the number of species of the order Passeriformes in the Krkonoše Mountains. Data on species occurrence were mapped in the year 2012-2014 The strength of the relationship between characteristics and abundance was determined by Pearson's correlation coefficient. It could not be confirmed that data with higher spatial resolution would be more beneficial for extracting landscape characteristics. Overall, the landscape characteristics did not prove functional relationships for all selected species, but for some species, species richness, and order of Passeriformes, the assumption of elevation and land cover as important factors was confirmed. Analysis of Generalization Methods of Land Use/Land Cover Objects on Czech State Map Series

This master thesis focuses on the detailed analysis of the present manual generalization of LU/LC objects from ZABAGED data to a scale of 1 : 50 000, to propose options for its future automatization based on ArcGIS software tools. Analyses of generalization methods are carried out on the data of the entire Czech Republic, by spatially comparing topologically correct objects of different scales and examining their characteristics. These analyses are therefore built on the principle of reverse engineering, when based on known inputs (original ZABAGED data) and outputs (manually generalized Data50 data), other inputs are derived in the form of criteria values used in the current practice. This is approached in such a way that by applying these detected values in the parameters of the ArcGIS functions, results comparable to the current generalized data are achieved. The Python programming language with the ArcPy library is used to perform the analyses. The derived values of current practice are described in detail and presented in tables, while their possibility and way of application in the future process of automatic generalization is determined. Monitoring land cover changes using satellite high temporal resolution data

The objective of this work is to create a base of spectral characteristics of the monitored vegetation types and to create a classification of the land cover. In this work MERIS images obtained by KAGIK were used. Ten different categories of land cover were selected for the study. The spectral behaviour of all categories for the period April - November 2009 was determined. The spectral response of some defined categories (coniferous forests, developed areas) was stable during the year. Contrary to that, significant changes in the spectral response of agricultural crops were observed. The best results were obtained in the categories Forests and Oilseed rape. Finally, the method of Spectral Unmixing was also tested. This method is used when some pixels contain several cover types. Using this method the best result was also obtained in the category Forests. It is evident that the MERIS images can be used for monitoring land cover changes, but because of the coarse resolution only large and homogeneous areas can be studied.

Hyperspectral data for classification of vegetation of alpine treeless in the Krkonoše Mts. ABSTRACT The Master Thesis is a part of the HyMountEcos project, which deals with a complex evaluation of mountain's ecosystems in the Giant Mountains National Park using the hyperspectral data. The area of interest is alpine treeless in the Giant Mountains National Park. The main goal of this thesis was to create detailed methodology for classification of vegetation cover using hyperspectral data from AISA DUAL and APEX sensors, to find a classification method, which would improve the accuracy of the results compared to those found in the literature, and to compare the accuracy reached with these two types of the data. Many different classification algorithms (Spectral Angle Mapper, Linear Spectral Unmixing, Support Vector Machine, MESMA a Neural Net) were applied and the classification results were statistically evaluated and compared in the next part of the work. The classification method Neural Net was found as the most accurate one, as it gives the most accurate results for APEX data (the overall accuracy 96 %, Kappa coefficient 0,95) as well as for AISA DUAL data (the overall accuracy 90 %, Kappa coefficient 0,88). Synthesis of digital landscape surface data

A procedural generation of landscapes often meets a need for real spatial data at finer resolution that data available at the moment. We introduce a method that refines the spatial data at the coarse resolution into the finer resolution utilizing other data sources which are already at the better resolution. We construct weighted local linear statistical models from both the coarse and utility data and use the by- models-learned dependencies between the data sources to predict the needed data at better resolution. To achieve higher computational speed and evade utility data imperfection, we utilize truncated singular value decomposition which reduce a dimensionality of the data space we work with. The~method is highly modifiable and its application shows plausible real-like results. Thanks to this, the method can be of practical use for simulation software development. Comparison of RÚIAN / ISKN and ZABAGED data with focus on land use / land cover

The goal of this diploma thesis is to propose a proper method of comparison and quantification of differences in RÚIAN / ISKN and ZABAGED databases with respect to their specifics, while focusing on descriptive part of the data reflecting land use / land cover. This proposal is implemented using automated means of geographic information systems and the methodology is tested on sufficient number of appropriate areas. The theoretical part introduces with a possibility to compare datasets in general and with the characteristics of the both databases, with focus on their attribute part describing land use / land cover. The practical part consists of the design of comparison, methodology implementation description and testing of the whole design as well as testing of those individual components that influence the result of the comparison. Result of this thesis is a methodology and software (scripts) for comparison of RÚIAN / ISKN and ZABAGED databases.

Land cover changes in Ore mountains and their possible impact on rainfall-runoff process Abstract Land cover changes have occurred since the formation of Earth, but increasingly, these changes mainly in anthropogenic characters, a big problem in many places around the world. It is, therefore, necessary to monitor how land cover changes, and its impact on individual natural processes and use these results of studies in preventing or fix possible consequences of these changes. More and more disciplines are, therefore, also examines this issue. This paper deals with the assessment of land cover change and its impact on rainfall- runoff process, focusing mainly on mountain basin where this influence manifests itself most expressive, both influencing the water balance of the basin, and influence responses to extreme hydrological events. The findings are applied to the upper basin Chomutovka in the Ore mountains where the thesis evaluates changes in land cover on the basis of aerial photos from 1975, 1987 and the present day (2010). Effect of environmental variables on diversity and abundance of water bird species Abstract The environmental variables affect the abundance of species and individuals of most living organisms significantly. The intensity of environmental changes can be evaluated by using bioindicators. The birds rank among them. The most significant variables of the wide range of abiotic, biotic and anthropogenic factors are likely change of habitat structure and quality and climatic changes. In this thesis there is addressed issue of the impact of these factors in the model group of organisms - water birds. The first part is devoted to the characteristics of the impact of environmental variables on the abundance and species diversity of birds by the research of available literature. The relevant data are processed in the second part. There is carried out basic analysis of major environmental factors affecting the diversity and abundance of waterfowls at locations of interest. Evaluation of global changes in forest area based on remote sensing data Abstract: The aim of this project is using remote sensing data to assess change in global forest area. This work should give the outline of the principles of land cover classification, with a focus on forests based on satellite images, but also show a real solution in the evaluation of changes in forest areas in two selected regions. The first part is performed a literature review of all aspects of this sub-topic from the basic principles of remote sensing across the typology and characteristics of satellite sensors, which are giving the satellite images to land cover classification systems and characteristics of forest area. The next section describes the basic procedure for classification of satellite imagery and its possible variants. In my work there are explain the image corrections, the supervised and unsupervised classification, the method of checking the accuracy of classification or use of software. Selected area for my work was Riau in Indonesia and state of Oregon, USA. To these regions there are demonstrated practical procedure for classifying land cover and then its changes from the forest areas.
