The theme of the dissertation titled the Centre of Sport and Leisure Time in Brno is a design of a relaxing and sport site „Centrum Lužánky“. The subject of this project is architectonic-city-planning study, which deals with elaborating a concept of a sport centre behind Lužánky in Brno-Ponava. This dissertation contains details of the facility and the area of the current swimming pool Lužánky. The current state of the facility built in 1979 doesn’t meet requirements of visitors and sportsmen anymore. The main aim of this project is the reconstruction of the current fifty-meter swimming pool, a design of a new swimming pool placed under the ground floor of the current building, which will provide space for organizing international competitions, trainings of professional sportsmen, etc. At the same time the busyness of the current swimming pools would be lowered by building a new indoor and outdoor waterpark, especially for the group of recreational visitors. The attractiveness of the facility will be increased by the newly designed park relaxing area and proposed multipurpose area, used as a sports field in the summer and as an ice ring in the winter. Additional value of the facility is comprised by an indoor and outdoor café and large relaxing area on the roof of the waterpark. The whole area increases the community facility availability by a proposed wide range of services for health, relax and sport. The advantage of the whole concept is the mutual connection of all facilities. The entrance to the area is shortened by a designed pedestrian bridge, accessible from the south and north busy areas. The whole project is enhanced by increased number of new parking places, located particularly along the access road, the street Sportovní, going through a green zone. The road and parking places are proposed in the design of residential streets, respecting walking pedestrians. The area has a very rich sport history, which is dated back to 1922. WHAT TO DO? Conversion of industrial premises, Brno - Obřany
Kocourek, Tomáš ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Oplatek, Jiří (advisor)
The name of the project prompts the problems of legacy of industrial premises. The goal of my work was to consider, how to use the buildings in the premises in Obřany, Brno. The aim was on the most important object – former building of Essler’s spinning factory, which was supposed to be turned into school of architecture for one hundred students in two school years. The work aims on connection of the area with the city. It solves objects themselves, tries to find accurate usage of them, for example commersial premises, student housing and so on. All this is united with the concept of „union“, which goes throught the whole area and tries to create simple a most of all plesant public places. The school – building of former spinning factory – disclose it’s strenght in it‘s open space, when the whole structure of the building is visible. I came from this conviction into my project, that agreed with my image of open shool. I wanted to design a school, where students could create together, where they would have review of the whole space, about other students. Tuitions would become public matter, where everybody could join.
Sports and Relaxation Centre Vsetín, Ohrada
Marková, Dominika ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
The assignment is an architecture and urban planning study of a sports and recreation center. The solved area is located in the town of Vsetín, in the part called Ohrada. Nowdays, the area is obsolete, unfunctional and also unmodern. My project is mainly focused to create a concept that responds to the environment, offers outdoor and indoor spaces for all generations. It allows better connection with nature, variable use, and division of area by function. The design is defined by the river Bečva on the west side and a busy 1st class road on the east side. It was important to separate pedestrians and cyclists from motor vehicles. The response to this restriction is to direct traffic in the area to the west, towards the river. This creates a terrain works that optically deflects the design in a quieter direction. Buildings are placed in the line and oriented in the western direction. After creating the terrain, I divided the area into several segments according to functionality. In the heart of the area, a multifunctional central hall with an inner climbing wall is set in the terrain. In front of it is a public space for meetings, sports and recreation. On the other side, there is a basketball court, a workout playground, a children's playground in front of the hall and a rest area of ??greenery closer to the river. If we continue southerly down, another cube set into the terrain is a building with a restaurant and a cafe. The southernmost building is a tennis club with facilities for athletes and squash. In front of the building there is a 9x tennis court with a grandstand. Closer to the river and the bike path there is an outdoor climbing wall. From the newly created embankment, the area is divided by a cycle path around the river. Behind the bridge is a green belt separated area which, unlike the previous ones, is tuned in a calmer spirit. We will find a building of a yoga and meditation center.
Inverted in dust
Nedvědová, Adéla ; Čechová, Veronika (referee) ; Ambrůz, Jan (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is a conceptual work concerned with urban and natural aesthetics. It is based on several interventions in the “terrain vague” close to the author´s residence. The work uses symbolism of tourism and touristic activities that invite the new take on neighboring but neglected spaces. These interventions are not very spectacular, but it is the urban context that makes them unusual.
