Jakubcová, Šárka ; Procházková, Jana (advisor) ; Valentová, Lidmila (referee)
The thesis titled "Use of animal assisted therapy for the hospitalized children" deals with the theoretical background of animal assisted therapy as a supporting method in complex rehabilitation and its practical use during the visits of volunteers with their dogs and its influence to the health of children in hospital care. In the available literature are often described the positive effects of the animal assisted therapy onto the mental and physical condition of the person, the impact on improving communication as well as other factors in the social life of the client. The main focuse of my work is whether these effects can be observed (noticed) even in the short term or even after a single visit of the dog. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, I have tried to describe this impact and possibly uncover additional benefits that can be attributed to the visits of the volunteers with a dog at pediatric hospital.

This bachelor thesis deals with a subjective experiencing of four respondents at acute stage of paranoid schizophrenia and their satisfaction with a treatment and content of time during hospitalization at one of the departments of psychiatry in the Bohnice hospital. It was found out that patients were most satisfied with a care of department's staff. However, a moderate criticism of different departments appeared as well. It was especially criticism of departments with restricted access. As far as experiencing the acute stage of the disorder is concerned, various existential problems, fears, chaotic and odd thinking as well as problems concerning relationships with close people appeared to be related to the disorder itself. The contribution of the thesis is that it points out a possibility of better integration of patients into a cooperation during the treatment through their own understanding of their disease and understanding of their experience. The first part of the thesis defines a concept of schizophrenia from different theoretical points of view which complement one another rather than being in opposition.
