Nanofiltration

PharmDr. Radim Kučera, Ph.D. Consultant: PharmDr. Tomáš Holas, Ph.D. Nanofiltration is a pressure-driven membrane process which is characterized by using semipermeable membranes with approximately 1 nm pores. This method is used abundantly for the separation of substances with low molecular weight. It is used for example in the process of product isolation in pharmaceutical industry. This diploma thesis is focused on the description of the behaviour of three commercially produced nanofiltration membranes and also on testing of their potential use in the production of ergot alkaloids. The theoretical part is focused especially on the description of pressure-driven membrane processes, the use of nanofiltration in various areas and also on current and historical use of ergot alkaloids in therapy and on the description of their properties. The practical part is oriented particularly on examination of effect of various experimental parameters on the retention of selected ergot alkaloids (primarily of lysergic and isolysergic acid). Title of diploma thesis: Historical Evolution of Pharmacy in the Region of Banská Bystrica The main subject and aim of the thesis is an attempt to depict the determining features of historical development of pharmacy in the defined region of the town of Banská Bystrica from the most distant past until the contemporary present time. The issue of history of pharmacy is observed in close connection to significant events and particularities in general historical development of the town and the surrounding region. It is simultaneously assessed in immediate connection with the fundamental milestones in the area of medical care. The thesis is focused on chronological description of individual pharmacies in Banská Bystrica. The final part is dedicated to the changes in pharmacy after 1989 and the contemporary situation of pharmacies.

Empowerment of phamacists in the phamacies

The diploma thesis aims on the employee empowerment, both the psychological empowerment (PE) and its antecedents - the structuctural empowerment (SE) and the leadership empowerment behaviour (LEB). The theoretical part gives a definition and an overview of the above mentioned terms including studies that deal with their relations, and also it describes consequences of the empowerment that can be on the individual, team or organizational level. Based on knowledge from the literature research the comprehensive model of the empowerment was build. In the second part there are analyzed following relations: the structural - psychological empowerment relation, the leadership empowerment behaviour - psychological empowerment relation and the structural empowerment - leadership empowerment behaviour relation. For obtaining the data the questionnaire was used. The results pointing at some potentionally problematic parts of empowerment in the organizations are introduced in the discussion and the conclusion.

Analysis of the Sales representative's effectiveness

Presented master thesis deals with the issues of analysis of the Sales representative's effectiveness in conjunction with the effectiveness of regions severance, methods of evaluation and remuneration. The thesis will also outline company's usage of CRM software from the perspective of Sales representative and Sales Analyst. Theoretical part contains findings from CRM, profession of Sales representatives and methods of evaluation and remuneration. These finding will be exemplified on international pharmaceutical company. The aims of this thesis are suggestions and recommendations which are targeted to increase effectiveness of the Sales representatives and CRM software.

Databases and digital libraries for pharmaceutical disciplines

The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe and basically analyze representative databases and digital libraries that focus on pharmaceutical disciplines. The introductory chapter is concerned with related terminology, while the following chapters refer to significant subjects and principles in the field of pharmaceutical industry, and also to important classification systems and retrieval languages that can be found in some of the described resources. The fifth chapter focuses on pharmaceutical information resources which are offered by some of the world's leading database service companies. The sixth chapter contains a description and a basic analysis of 10 representative electronic resources for pharmaceutical disciplines. The empirical section of this diploma thesis consists of three major parts. One of them is a subject coverage analysis of bibliographic databases MEDLINE and EMBASE from the viewpoint of pharmaceutical information. Secondly, it contains a presentation of an indicative survey that is related to using electronic information resources by a commercial and a nonprofit subject. The last chapter deals with information brokering that is presented on example of the Medistyl company. The eighth chapter describes representative information resources for complementary and alternative medicine. The empirical section of this diploma thesis consists of a subject coverage analysis of bibliographic databases MEDLINE, EMBASE and BMČ from the viewpoint of pharmaceutical information, and further deals with information brokering that is presented on example of the Medistyl company. Pharmacy in the Czech Lands between 1938/39 and 1945

English version Subject: Pharmacy in the Czech lands between 1938/39 and 1945. Objective: Study of pharmacy in the Czech Lands between 1938 and 1945 and study of the pharmaceutical branches, especially pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical education, pharmaceutical industry and professional organizations during the World War II. Methods: Processing of the historical pharmaceutical press from Czech pharmaceutical museum in Kuks. Results: The financial situation of pharmaceutical staff between 1939 and 1945 was increased by pay rise and turnover rise in pharmacy. Short supply of ingredients was equalized by increase in drug production in pharmaceutical industry. University education of pharmacists was stopped by Germans in 1939. Jewish companies in pharmaceutical industry were impouded by german merchants. Conclusion: Business in pharmacy during the World War II was successful for pharmacy owners and their employees. Many pharmaceutical problems such as increase in pharmaceutical rates, build up of Pharmaceutical centre and particular unification of professional organizations was resolved.
