Manda, Filip ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Zahálka, František (referee)
Title: Functional Profile of Performance Billiard Players Objectives: The main aim of thesis was to find out maximal functional characteristics and body composition of performance billiard players by using laboratory testing. Next step was to define load intensity during simulated match. Methods: There were used biomedical measurements as a body measuring, bioelectrical impedance, laboratory spiroergometric measuring by maximal stress testing. Field spiroergometric measuring was provide during simulated match in pool hall. To find the role of physical fitness in performance billiard were used half structured interview with open questions and online survey. Results: The findings show that tested billiard players achieve levels of physical fitness from average to very good values. But some of them are classified as overweight and obese. Long-time playing billiard does not have any important influence on asymetric composition of muscle mass of upper limbs. During playing billiard an oxygen consumption didn't get over 30% of VO2max and values of heart rate were between 39 to 59% HRmax. During playing billiard an energy expenditure grows from 222 to 330% of BM. Billiard energetic demands of tested players are moving between 14,6 kJ to 29,3 kJ. Another result of thesis is a statement about the role of...
Determination of exercise post-oxygen consumption (EPOC) following resistance training, and aerobic exercise
Galertová, Alena ; Petr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Sedlak, Petr (referee)
Oxygen debt repayment after completion of intense muscular activity reflects the significant involvement of anaerobic metabolism druring exercise. Some studies have reported an increased oxygen consumption even after 24 to 48 hours after strength training character, while after the activities of lower intensity (the aerobic exercise) is the oxygen consumption increased only in the order of several hours. In common practice, especially in the selection of the most suitable forms of exercise to increase energy expenditure in the general population, this is not usually a calculated factor. The aim of the thesis is the comparison of the energy expenditure by using indirect calorimetry and monitoring of selected individuals and at intervals after completion intense muscular activity and after aerobic exercise. Hrubý, Pavel ; Sýkora, Karel (advisor) ; Vágner, Michal (referee)
Title: Comparison of energy expenditure when moving on wet and dry clothes. Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the difference in heart rate when moving in dryand wet clothes in different speeds. Methods: Quantitative research and subsequent intra-individual comparison of pulse frequency when moving in dry and wet clothes. Movements were conducted on a treadmill and heart rate was measured by using sporttesters. Results: From the results we can deduce that at the speed of 8 km / h is on the short track the move in the dry and wet clothing approximately at the same energy intensive. Furthermore, it was found that at higher speeds, the difference in heart rates is bigger and wearing a wet clothes at speeds 12 km / h approaches maximum heart rate. Keywords: Energy expenditure, heart rate, military swimming, moving in difficult conditions.

Thesis title Comparison of energy output of one rope techniques using different types of ties. Aims The aim of this thesis is the comparison of energy output of rope climbing with load using full body harness and sit harness. Methods used In this thesis an energy output measurement is being carried out using CORTEX METALYZER® apparatus during rope climbing. In the first measurement probands were tested during rope climbing with load using sit harness only. In the second measurement probands were tested during rope climbing with load using full body harness (i.e combination of both sit and chest harnesses). To compare the results obtained, qualitative analysis a a T-test were used. The results Based on the data obtained and the T-test later performed, no significant difference was found between the measurement readings of sit harness climbing and full body harness climbing. According to the qualitative analysis performed, correlation was found out between preffered sport activities a the measurement results, wherein the persons doing aerobic activities showed lower readings of energy output during rope climbing in the second measurement during rope climbing with load using full body harness, whereas the persons doing aerobic-anaerobic activities showed lower readings of energy output during rope...

Title: The Reliability of Measuring on the Skytech Interactive Ski Simulator Objectiv: The goal of this work is to investigate the reliability of the measurement of energy expenditure on the Skytech Interactive Ski Simulator. Methods: The sample consisted of 14 subjects, among which were 9 boys and 5 girls. The value of energy expenditure was measured by indirect calorimetry using the energy equivalent and respiratory exchange ratio. For the measurement of respiratory gases, the Metamax 3B metabolic analyzer and for the analysis of heart rate, the Polar S610 heart rate monitor were used. The subjects completed two measurements, each lasting 6 minutes. During this time, the data needed for subsequent calculations reliability were measured. Assuming that the pair of measuring has a two-dimensional distribution, the reliability equals the correlation coefficient. It was computed using the maximum likelihood method. Results: The measurement of energy expenditure on the Skytec Interactive Simulator provided consistent and reliable results. The findings in this study can be applied to further testing on this machine. Conclusion: The reliability of energy expenditure reached 0,84, a result better than the usual values of reliability tests, which may typically be about 0,8. Keywords: Energy expenditure,...

Bujnovský, David ; Kokštejn, Jakub (advisor) ; Frýbort, Pavel (referee)
Title: Comparison of the size of the motor load in the Czech and Austrian soccer players at the same performance level Objectives: The aim is to determine the size of the physical load of players during a football match. At the same time the next aim is to determinate the differences of physical load between Czech and Austrian soccer players at the same performance level. Methods: The indirect (mediated) observations was used in this bachelor thesis, because the data were recorded by computers, from which data were subsequently processed to form of the results. Sporttester "Polar RS800" were used to assess the size of the physical load. For statistical analysis the "effect size" was used. Results: In terms of size of the physical load the significant difference was found between Czech and Austrian soccer players in average time spent on level of higher physical load (heart rate over 85% of maximum heart) during the football match. However, based on the conditions under which measurement were made, it is clear that it is impossible to draw definite conclusions. The energy balance evaluation at spontaneous breathing polytrauma patients with nutritional support in ICU.
Jelínková, Valerie ; Hronek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Kovařík, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis investigates the influence of nutrition support on a set of critically ill patients after the administration of parenteral nutrition by measuring their energy expenditure and substrate oxidation. The study was performed on 8 spontaneously breathing patients during the 2nd-5th day of polytrauma and the variables were obtained by Indirect calorimetry. The mean age of the patients was 42 ± 16 years. Four patients were obese, three were overweight and one had normal weight in the examined group. The measurement was conducted on 7 patients after hypocaloric nutrition administration (1323 ± 281 kcal/day) and 1 patient after hypercaloric nutrition administration (3400 kcal/day). Statistical analysis revealed that the administered nutritional support had no significant effect on energy expenditure and the substrate oxidation preference. However, correlations between the values of energy expenditure, nutrients oxidation, and values of some of the laboratory parameters were observed. The energy expenditure of polytraumatic patients measured at least 4 hours after nutritional administration was 2139 ± 518 kcal/day and 24.6 ± 3.5 kcal/kg/day. This energy expenditure was covered by oxidation of proteins (31%), by lipids (46%) and by carbohydrates (23%). Large variability was found among the results...
