Stabilization methods for unstable solutions of the discrete logistic equation

Vanishing solutions of a second-order discrete non-linear equation of Emden-Fowler type
Diblík, J. ; Korobko, E.
The paper discusses a discrete equation of an Emden-Fowler type Δ2v(k) = -k3 (Δv(k))3 where v is a dependent variable, k is an integer-valued independent variable, Δv and Δ2v are the first and second-order forward differences of v, respectively. The paper aims to prove the existence of a nontrivial and vanishing solution for k ! 1. The equation is transformed into a system of two first-order difference equations, which makes it possible to apply previously known results when investigating the system.

Discrete Regular Variation and Difference Equations

Properties of sequence spaces and their applications in the theory of nonlinear difference equations
Kosík, Jindřich ; Šremr, Jiří (referee) ; Řehák, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is a detailed elaboration on apparatus of functional analysis for study of qualitative properties of solutions of difference equations and its application for analysis of a specific nonlinear difference equation. The thesis includes detailed analysis of some properties of sequence spaces, discrete versions of Levi's monotone convergence theorem and Lebesgue's dominated convergence theorem and criteria for relative compactness of sequence spaces. Theoretical apparatus is completed with fixed point theorems. Introduced mathematical instruments are later used for study of a concrete nonlinear difference equation.

The Z transformation and its application to solutions of difference equations
Hubatová, Michaela ; Opic, Bohumír (advisor) ; Johanis, Michal (referee)
This thesis uses knowledge from the introductory course of complex analysis, especially the theory of Laurent series. It provides basic information about the Z transformation and shows its mathematical applications. The text gives characterizations of exponential type sequences and defines their Z transformation. Presented theorems can be used to determine images of exponential type sequences and to find preimages of functions holomorphic at the point infinity. These theorems are given with proofs and illustrated with examples. Also some methods of the inverse tranformation are mentioned and a list of preimages of chosen rational functions holomorphic at infinity is included. In the last chapter the Z transformation is applied to solve linear difference equations. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
