Civil initiative in the field of animal reproduction

This Diploma Thesis focuses on the issue of reproduction of animals and the non- profit organisations and subjects working in this field. The cat and dog reproduction is a primary cause of their overpopulation in the Czech Republic which becomes an ever- increasing issue as the abandoned animal shelter network fails to provide enough capacity for local demand. The thesis is focused on the activities of such organisations and tools they use for mobilising the necessary resources as well as the issue of animal reproduction itself. The theory basis is in the general theory of resource mobilisation supported with the explanation of the civil initiatives dedicated to this phenomenon as well as the overview of the phenomenon of the animal reproduction as well. The thesis is composed of five qualitative interviews with organisations or movements that are dedicated to effective reduction of animal reproduction. The empiric part of the thesis presents selected organisations and then analyses the collected data. The financial and human resources are mostly utilised by organisations which physically treat animals and the majority of the funds is consumed by providing care for them. The liability in the area of animal protection

English abstract This diploma thesis deals with tort liability in the area of animal protection. It summarises international legislation, EU legislation and also the Czech one. At the beginning, it deals with the definition of essential terms such as definition of an animal and its categorisation and introduction into the issue. It provides insight not only into the status of animal in public law but also into its status in private law. Subsequently, it analyses liability, its elemental features and classification. Afterwards, is describes important international treaties, including the conventions of the Council of Europe. At the EU level, discusses primary legislation, secondary legislation and conceptual tools. The part of the thesis which concerns Czech law focuses on the Act no. 246/1992 Coll., on protection of animals against cruelty, where it emphasises on administrative offences concerning this area. Also mentioned are some other acts regarding the animal protection. In conclusion, it does not forget to define crimes in the area of animal protection and against animals and subsequent sanctions.
Carers for Abandoned Animals as a Specific Type of Volunteers: The Influence of the Relationship with the Animals on the Construction of Identity

Adéla Odvárková Carers for abandoned animals as a specific type of volunteers: the influence of the relationship with the animals on the construction of identity Abstract This thesis deals with voluntary carers for abandoned animals in the shelter and theconstruction of their identity in animal-interaction context. In the theoretical part, the author relies on the theory of constructing the identity of the animal's role in sociology and in our society. This thesis processes seven qualitative interviews with people who care for abandoned animals within specific organizations. The practical part is, except for introducing the institution and consultants, focused on the data analysis. The caregiver's relationship with animals began to form during childhood and further tightened through their help abandoned animals. This relationship had an impact that they decided to fully focus on taking care of animals in a particular shelter. This expirience was the reason to create new abilities and attitudes that are necessary for doing this work effectively. Aspecially emotional detachment and accepting the fact that you cannot save every animal. Animal protection in criminal law

English abstract I chose theme of my Master's degree thesis because it's actual because of the situation in society and new Civil Code, which changes legal status of animal. The purpose of my thesis is to analyze legal status of animal in Czech law, particularly in criminal law. I want to think about it, if is actual legislation sufficient, about problems and propose possible solutions. The thesis is composed of nine chapters. Chapter one is devoted to animal legal status in Czech law. It is divided into four subchapters, which are deal with explanation of the concept of animal, its legal status, its protection instruments and in the last subchapter is deal with animal legal status by the new Civil Code. Chapter two is focuses on public animal protection in general. In Four subchapters I summarize animal legal status in public law, constitutional framework, legislation in administrative and criminal law. Legal regulation of veterinary care

Resumé v anglickém jazyce The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyze veterinary care legislation in the Czech Republic, in the European Union and international law. The content of the thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is brief and describes the historical development of veterinary care. The second chapter covers animal welfare. The third chapter deals with international law and veterinary care, which is dominated by agreements concluded by the Council of Europe, the intergovernmental organization. One of the parts of the third chapter focuses on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The fourth chapter tries to map the sources of law and the institutions of veterinary care in the European Union. One of the parts of this chapter deals with bird flu. The fifth chapter is comprehensive and provides veterinary care description in the Czech Republic. This chapter tries to approach a more detailed explanation of the Veterinary Act, the implementing rules and regulations related to veterinary care. Another section of the thesis consist of an introduction, conclusion, abstract and key words, list of abbreviations, list of sources and supplements.
Legislation on treating animals in human care

1 Abstract This Master's thesis entitled Legislation on treating animals in human care compares Czech and Australian legislation in selected aspects of three categories of animals in human care - farm animals, companion animals and animals used for scientific and other research purposes. The thesis is composed of 5 main chapters. The first chapter describes sources of law regarding treating animals in human care from the perspectives of international law, European Union law, federal Czech law and Australian law. The second chapter explains basic terms - an animal and its legal status and animal in human care in Czech and Australian legislation. The third chapter focuses specifically on farm animals as a category of animals in human care as it is detailed in Czech and Australian legislation. The fourth chapter deals with companion animals in both countries' legislation. Finally, the fifth chapter describes the legal protection of animals used for scientific and other research purposes in Czech and Australian legislation. . An economic analysis of the costs of caring for abandoned animals

This thesis deals with the economic analysis of the costs of abandoned animals. It focuses on the costs of shelters in the South Bohemian Region. The work alludes to changes in legislation and innovations in it. The main objective of this work was to determine what costs are associated with caring for abandoned animals. Cost compa-rison of selected shelters regard to the structure and size of the city for which it was built shelter. Also take into account the number of dogs who have passed refuge, shelter locations in houses etc. Then a comparison was made on the basis of specific criteria and a summary of the results. The work was compiled based on information provided by the representatives of the shelters. The obtained data were then statistically evaluated in graphs and tables.

The Bachelor's thesis deals with the current state of animal protection in the South Bohemian Region. It focuses on wild and selected companion animals. The main aim of the thesis has been to find out how many wild animals are being released back into nature from rescue stations and the numbers of companion animals placed with new owners. Further, the possibility of temporary accommodation of animals in hotels for dogs is explored. The thesis has been elaborated on the basis of information provided by representatives of individual organisations and companies. The data has been statistically analysed in charts and tables.

The article analyses the legal regulation of the cathegory of animal species requiring special care under the Act No. 246/1992 Coll., on the protection of animals against cruelty and its development from the cathegory of dangerous animal species and it describes the types of legal instruments that are nowadays applied for its regulation.
