Bulgarian Parties and Party System after 1989
Stojanovová, Marie ; Koubek, Jiří (advisor) ; Buben, Radek (referee)
Bulgarian Parties and Political System after 1989 Marie Stojanovová The Bachelor thesis will be focused on the development of Bulgarian parties and party lines. The time context will be limited to the period after the fall of the Communist regime. A close attention will be paid to the analysis of Bulgarian party system, especially on the basis of the phenomena of fragmentation and polarization, both typical for the 90's. The theoretical basis consists in the comparative study of transitions to democracy and of the electoral systems.
4-Coalition- anomaly or the expression of the systemic tendency? Case study of the Czech party system
Hanáček, Vladimír ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Koubek, Jiří (referee)
v anglickém jazyce: This study focuses on the analysis of former Czech political project of "4-Coalition", which was established by four Czech oppositional parties (KDU-ČSL, US, ODA and DEU) in the years 1998 - 2002. This analysis is done through the case study, which focuses on the development of "4-Coalition" in its three developmental stages: from the cooperation of the sovereign parties, throw the formalized platform of party cooperation to the project of "4- Coalition" as a peculiar actor of the Czech politics. The analysis of ideological background, program and personnel questions shows the potential tensions, that arose inside of "4- Coalition", gives them in the appropriate historical context and analyses its causes. These tensions together with the external factors are viewed as a fundamental cause of the final failure of the project of "4-Coalition" and its disintegration. The aim of this study is to answer the question, whether it is possible in party system perspective to speak about "4-Coalition" as a potential third pole of the Czech party system, or whether it is anomaly, which the systemic tendency to the bipolar configuration doesn't infringe. With regard to the continuing relevance of only one left-right dimension of the party competition and the completion of the project of so...
Electoral Geography of Poland After 1989
Šulc, Jan ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Kubát, Michal (referee)
The rigorous thesis Electoral Geography of Poland After 1989. The Spatial Dimension of the Results of Presidential Elections and Elections to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland explores the spatial distribution of patterns of electoral behavior in Poland on the basis of analysis of the results of all presidential elections and elections to the Sejm that took place in the country between the years 1990-2011. The main hypothesis tested in this rigorous thesis is that former boundaries between Russia, Prussia (Germany) and Austria (Austria-Hungary), between which the territory of modern-day Poland was divided in the 19th century, still have an impact on Poland's electoral geography. On the basis of this hypothesis political parties and presidential candidates are divided into two pre-defined categories: traditionalist and modernist. The validity of the hypothesis is then proven by visual analysis of political parties' and presidential candidates' electoral maps, and also by the application of Pearson's correlation coefficient on political parties' electoral results from constituencies and presidential candidates' electoral results from voivodships. In contemporary Poland a clear rift exists between the parts of the country formerly dominated by Prussia (Germany) and major Polish cities on the one hand (also...
Electoral Geography of Poland After 1989

Plasmid DNAs interactions with lanthanoide compounds
Budko, Kateryna ; Horák, Daniel (referee) ; Rittich, Bohuslav (advisor)
Recently much attention is given to lanthanides and their complexes as excellent catalysts for cleavage of nucleic acids. The thesis has been focused on the cleavage of plasmid and bacterial DNA by ions Nd3+ and Y3+ and by different carriers containing the lanthanide compounds. The creation of single-stranded nicks and double-stranded ones in the plasmid DNA molecules was studied by agarose gel electrophoresis. Verification of the cleavage of bacterial DNA was made by polymerase chain reaction using primers specific for the domain Bacteria and genus and species-specific primers. The results will be used in the development of the method that will allow perfect carriers`s coverage verification with the magnetic perovskit nucleus and other carriers with the lanthanide compounds.
