Between Westbindung and Ostpolitik: Reconceptualising German-Russian Relations 2014-2017

German-Russian relations have remained strong since the Cold War, despite continuing in traditions of multilateralism and integrated into the Western order. Despite recent tensions and deterioration since the Ukraine Crisis, German-Russian relations are a subject of intense debate between the political parties CDU/CSU and SPD that governed Germany in a coalition from 2014-2017. This thesis utilises a social constructivist method to focus on social factors and party-political legacies relevant in the evolving relationship. It then analyses the evolving discourse of the parties about Russia in the years 2014-2017, focusing on the different ways the discourse uses and connects with the factors and legacies. Although a parallel movement is discerned between the foreign policy positions of the CDU/CSU and SPD, the parties' positions do not converge but remain in conflict about the future of European security, cooperation with Russia and the desired foreign policy role of Germany. Throughout, the analysis suggests that contemporary theories about German-Russian relations and about Germany's foreign policy role should look at the internal debates and factors to get a more complete picture of German foreign policy. Geographic Information System in the Field of Financial Services

The thesis deals with the analysis and implementation of a Geographical Information System for Partners Financial Service a .s. (GeoFiP). The application will be a mainly used by management to make decisions and for creating reports. The thesis includes process of merging publicly available statistical data of various state institutions with internal company data. Based on the input data and options for displaying the map the basic concept of the application was created such as user interface, the logic of merging the data, displaying of a map background and integration of GeoFiP into the company’s internal system. Graphical interface is created by using HTML, JavaScript and CSS, while logic display is build up on PHP back-end using MySQL database. The result of this thesis is a functional user menu that fits into the Partners Financial Services a .s design and user experience rules, implementation of methods for displaying a map background, and a functional element of data display settings for a specific part of the company.

German nuclear phase-out in 2011 and political motivations of CDU/CSU

This bachelor thesis focuses on the German nuclear phase-out in 2011 and political motivations of CDU/CSU. The main objective of this paper is to confirm or reject the statement that CDU/CSU was politically motivated in order to attempt to prevent large vote losses in the upcoming Landtag elections. Nuclear phase-out was not an entirely new development for Germany; there is a long tradition of a strong opposition to nuclear technology and already during the government of red-green coalition after 1998 the first nuclear phase-out was agreed. Nuclear energy was nevertheless considered to be a convenient bridging technology for CDU/CSU before Germany could fully rely on renewable sources of energy and belonged to the front supporters of nuclear energy. With the inauguration of the new federal government in 2009 formed by CDU/CSU and FDP, an amendment to the atomic law was agreed and the coalition managed to extend the operational lifespan of nuclear power plants. Their attitude to nuclear energy remained unchanged until the Fukushima accident in Japan in March 2011, which provoked a U-turn in their policy and they suddenly decided to support nuclear phase-out. The official explanation of the government seems to be insufficient since in no other country had the Japan nuclear accident such a big impact....

Vedoucí práce PhDr. Tomáš Nigrin, Ph.D. Abstract A wide range of changes in the German energy sector, known under the name Energiewende, is associated primarily with the government of the Red-Green Coalition ruling in the period 1998 - 2005. Although the then government of the Social Democrats and the Greens introduced the whole concept, the centre-right government of Helmut Kohl, the predecessor of the Red-Green Coalition and the government of Angela Merkel in the years 2009 - 2013, helped significantly to implement Energiewende. The thesis is focused mainly on 3 factors with which the government of H. Kohl and A. Merkel contributed to the implementation of Energiewende. It is the introduction of the Act on the promotion of renewable energy sources from 1991, the climate policy of H. Kohl and the nuclear phase out of A. Merkel from 2011. The thesis also examines the relevance of the aforementioned steps in relation to the whole energy concept. Konrad Adenauer and CDU

This work deals with the person of Konrad Adenauer and the formation of CDU in the period 1945 - 1949. Its main focus is on the role of Adenauer in the formation of the party and his other political activities. The circumstances of the foundation of new state are also covered. The first part briefly outlines Adenauer's life until 1945, both his education and political activity, and shortly his personal life. It presents his political activities immediately after the war and his subsequent engagement in the formation of the new political party. It describes the process of foundation of CDU from various Christian-democratic organizations to the national party, which then take part in the elections to the Bundestag in the late summer of 1949. The developing of the programme and various fights between wings inside the party for the leadership are also covered. The work also mentions related actions of the occupying powers during the military administration of German territory. Shifts in the CDU/CSU's Nuclear Energy Policy: A Path to the "Fukushima Reversal"

The Fukushima disaster sparked another series in the continuous German debate over the future of nuclear power and led to a major shift in the country's energy industry. The 2011 decision to abandon nuclear power nevertheless followed only a few months after the announced power plants' operation-extension. The aim of this paper is to examine, whether the CDU/CSU's post-Fukushima gradation reflects any constant developments in the party's policies. The author is looking at how nuclear policy of the Christian parties has been developing since the early stages of technological research in the 1950's until the Fukushima accident in March 2011. The paper outlines the shifts in the party's policy in the general context of German energy industry. This thesis provides an overview of CDU/CSU's approach towards the use of nuclear power and contributes to the understanding of the long- term tendencies behind the "Fukushima reversal."

The policy of the parliamentary parties in the Federal Republic of Germany towards the countries of the Eastern Bloc within the years 1963-1966

The thesis "The policy of the parliamentary parties in the Federal Republic of Germany towards the countries of the Eastern Bloc within the years 1963-1966" studies the policy of the parliamentary parties in the Federal Republic of Germany - CDU/CSU (Christian Democratic Union of Germany and Christian Social Union of Bavaria), FDP (Free Democratic Party) and SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) - towards the countries of the Eastern Bloc during the Federal Cabinet of Ludwig Erhard between the years 1963-1966. The thesis hypothesizes that a significant shift in the approach to the German question and Ostpolitik occurred in all the parliamentary parties in the FRG during the years 1963-1966. This hypothesis is tested by means of a detailed chronological description and analysis of the progress of the policies and a comparative analysis of the parties' policies towards the Soviet Union, the German Democratic Republic and other communist states of Eastern Europe. Business Trip Planning and Management System for ČSÚ

The goal of this master’s thesis is to design and create the central management system for controlling business trips and journeys of Czech statistical office. The system is accessible from every possible place of Czech statistical office (headquarters, region, district) including travelling staff. System is designed for scheduling, requesting and authorizing business trips, billings, generating travel orders, providing efficient usage of company cars and minimizing usage of private cars, storing and tracking data of company cars (routes, route segments, refueling, maintenance and repairs), predefined reports for monthly / quarterly / half-yearly / annual economic output, analysis of data entered into the system. It is possible to export data into the economic systems (both predefined and user-created). Central management system has been written using Nette PHP framework with Dibi database layer and HTML script language. Database is running on Oracle.

The topic of the thesis is issue of comparison of the Czech and Slovak legislation and comparison of IFRS and IAS. The thesis uses namely method of comparison of legislative and professional literature. The Czech Republic included the most important elements of harmonization to their legislation. The Czech Republic would be, for the better transparency, stoped from the continuity of the tax system.
