The meaning of social networks in teenagers' lives.
PTÁČKOVÁ, Eva
This bachelor thesis deals with the actual impact of so-called social networks (or social utilities) on lives of modern high school students. The subject matter of this work is basically concerned with the usage of these internet social networks and the proximate consequences of it within teenagers? everyday (?real?) lives. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe how and to what extend being a registered user and active member of these internet social utilities may interact with self-perception and the perception of others, as well as how much it may affect personal and social status of each individual. As a main research method, the authoress has used questioning methods and qualitative analysis of gathered data in line with the grounded theory as expressed, for example, by Strauss and Corbin (1999). The outcome of this research work shows inconsistence of the role of internet social networks as a means of communication, as well as the significance of its impact on modern teenagers? lives and the way of their thinking.

Social Capital – the Factor of Regional Development
Stachová, Jana ; Čermák, Daniel
First part of the paper shows that social capital plays crucial role in regional development, moreover that regional politics could increase the level of social capital in regions. We were able to distinguish three NUTS 2 regions that significantly differ from each other in the measure of social capital. Moreover we find out that social capital depends also on the size of municipality measured by the number of inhabitants. The larger the municipality is the lower the level of social capital.

I look at the development of an organisation in the course of time and I make an overview of the indicators and instruments used for measuring the system's quality. I applied my theoretical knowledge in the practical part. I measured the quality of social relationships with the indicators as social values and standards, corporate ethics and social climate. I consider them the most important in my thesis.
Analysis of social behaviour of individuals in virtual networks
Lukavská, Zuzana ; Pstružina, Karel (advisor) ; Řepa, Václav (referee)
This thesis deals with the comparison of users' behaviour in virtuality and in reality. The thesis is divided into two interrelated parts. I'm analyzing participants' behavior according to results from our own research in chosen social network. I'm comparing the results with other scientific works and putting them into context with theoretical knowledge. I'm looking for conjunctions with reality, focus on the differences and trying to explain different behaviour of users of social networks. The theoretical part gives a comprehensive overview of the concepts of virtuality, social network and virtual world. It provides an overview of the potential danger lurking in the virtual reality, focusing on children, because for them is virtuality already a natural part of life, and they are also because of their credibility very vulnerable. It also deals with the meaning of the concept of friendship, which has in the virtual world a bit different meaning. It also examines the behaviour of individuals in various situations in a virtual environment and looks for reasons why people change their image, why they behave aggressively, and whether their virtual behaviour influence their behaviour in reality. I'm analyzing the differences between virtual and real communications and the influence of the increasing tendency of using virtual means of communication for real communication.

Stavjaňa, Aleš ; Ryvolová, Ivana (advisor) ; Stočková, Olga (referee)
The bachelor thesis tries to show how human interaction can reflect in the way the government works. It maps the development of the Swedish state which, thanks to its homogenous populatioén, is a quite good example of how culture can influence the way that state behaves to its citizens. It focuses on the period of the second half of the twentieth century. The thesis tries to find the reason for the setting of the public sector, which offers the social benefits. By the collocation social system is meant the service the citizens get abd it is thought rather in the meaning of system of a society. Thus the thesis tries to enllighten the reason for choosing the rate of citizen - govenrment cooperation among nations and among cultures
Affirmative action or positive discrimination?
Buldrová, Andrea ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Vymětal, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with the idea of affirmative action and its importance in the development of American society. The main goal is to analyze the effects of affirmative action and to evaluate its positive and negative impacts. The thesis has following structure. At first the theory and basic defenitions of affirmative action and other connected terms are explained. The second part is oriented on historical development of the fight against discrimination and for equal rights of minorities and women. Since 60's it focuses directly on affirmative action programs. At the same time the public stance is examined as well as the main influeces that were and are able to change it. That is why this work deals with some concrete Supreme Court cases which played an essential role in changing the focus and popularity of affirmative action. Particular Supreme Court sentences acted in both directions - there are some cases which were judged in favor of institutions practising affirmative policy or of a member of a group which had to face past discrimination. On the other hand, some sentences led to the end of such programs, especially in 80's when many conservative justices were nominated by president Ronald Reagan. The present situation and the future of affirmative action depend fundamentally on the stance of U.S. administration. The new one around president Barack Obama gives hope to affirmative policy and its supporters.
Institutional-historical analysis of early development of sickness insurance in the Czech lands at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century
Dvořák, Lukáš ; Chalupníček, Pavel (advisor) ; Doležalová, Antonie (referee)
This text aims to identify the main features of development of sickness insurance in the Czech lands. In the second half of the 19th century new mutual benefit societies started to emerge -- similarly like in Great Britain and the United States, and in the same time in 1888 the compulsory workers sick insurance was introduced. In the first part, this work offers analytical framework for analysis of this development, especially the approach of the public choice school, the concept of cognitive hazard and of social capital. In second part, the author gives historical overview of the era, brief overview of the development of so-called Friendly societies in Great Britain and the United States and an analysis of compulsory workers sick insurance and voluntary societies in Bohemia. The analysis shows the role of interest groups (workers movement, employers, physicians etc.) that shaped the compulsory insurance in similar way as captured in the Anglo-Saxon experience. The push-through of the compulsory insurance strengthens their positions. The application of social capital and cognitive hazard concept reveals that the compulsory insurance could bring unintended cost in the long run by lowering a voluntary cooperation.
