Changes in runoff from selected glaciated catchments in the Alps
Chytil, Jan ; Jeníček, Michal (advisor) ; Nedělčev, Ondřej (referee)
Glaciers are crucial in alpine regions, especially during the summer months when they supply water to lower-lying regions. However, they are expected to melt more rapidly in the future and glacier water is expected to decline gradually. As a consequence, the seasonality of runoff from glacial catchments will change and the water deficit in the summer months will intensify. The goals of this thesis were (1) to assess the current state of knowledge on the hydrological regime of mountain glacier catchments and its changes, and (2) to evaluate the hydrological regimes of selected mountain glacier catchments in the Alps. Long time series from 5 glacier catchments in the Swiss Alps were used to find trends in monthly runoff. Trends were calculated using the Mann-Kendall trend test and quantified by the Sen's slope estimator. In general, the results indicated that summer flows increased the most in the catchments with the highest percentage of glaciation and also with the highest mean elevation. A decreasing trend in summer flows and an increasing trend in winter flows occurred at stations with low percent glaciation and large catchments area. Catchments with both low percent glaciation and the lowest average elevation were the least subject to trends in both average and extreme flows. Accelerating...

Chytilová, Markéta ; Ryška, Zbyněk (referee) ; Dýr, Petr (advisor)
The topic of my Master‘s thesis is an architectural study of the reconstruction and revitalization of the former MODETA factory building, located near the Jihlava Zoo. The building is designed to have multifunctional use for the zoo. The construction program defines the building as a complementary facility to the functional complex of the Jihlava Zoo. The location is near the historical center of the city of Jihlava, along the Jihlávka river. The project was preceded by a pre-diploma project, in which I focused on the design of mobile containers for the Jihlava Zoo. In the building, there will be an animal exhibition connected to the zoo. The new section will be fully functional even in the winter season. You will find here the Water World with an exhibit of a small crocodile - the Dwarf Caiman. There will also be an Orangutan exhibit and a Night World, where mammals will have an opposite regime (night during the day). The exhibit of small monkeys is located on the 2nd floor, where there is also a 2nd observation point for orangutans. You can also observe them from a bridge that connects the building to the zoo. For zoo staff, there is a facility with offices, a workshop, and sanitary facilities. A self-service restaurant with a capacity of up to 150 people on the 1st floor serves both the public and employees, whose facilities are connected to the restaurant. The public will also have access to a congress and exhibition hall, where it is possible to create two separate events or combine spaces by sliding mobile partitions to increase capacity. The halls are connected by elevators and stairs to accommodation on the 3rd floor and the restaurant for refreshments on the 1st floor. Accommodation can be used by the public as well as educational institutions. The IQ Park is located on the 2nd floor, accessible by a separate entrance or directly from the Night World. There will be interactive equipment with animal themes and a screening room with a capacity of 60 people.

Kordula, Lukáš ; Rubinová, Olga (referee) ; Uher, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis titled "Air Conditioning for an Auto Salon with Workshop" focuses on designing an air conditioning system for an auto salon with a workshop for cars located in Brno. For the facility, we have designed two air conditioning units, with one serving the auto salon and the other serving the car workshop. The unit for the auto salon aims to cool during the summer months and heat during the winter, while for the workshop, the goal was to extract harmful emissions from the workshop environment. The thesis employs methods for designing air conditioning systems, including selecting suitable equipment. The outcome of the thesis comprises two proposals for air conditioning units tailored to the needs and conditions of the auto salon and workshop environment, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability. The theoretical part focuses on acoustics in HVAC systems. The computational part addresses the individual steps necessary for designing the air conditioning unit. Software tools used in the design include Teruna and AeroCad. The project part develops the necessary project documentation within the specified scope.
Seasonal variation in renewable energy supply
Rymešová, Lucie ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Linda, Jakub (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on seasonal fluctuations in energy supply from renewable sources, specifically photovoltaic and wind power plants. It includes a literature review on renewable energy sources and their importance in the energy sector. It further explores the principles and utilization of photovoltaic and wind power plants. The thesis analyses seasonal fluctuations in energy supply by processing data from the ČHMÚ station and examines their impacts on the energy system. The results of the analysis of seasonal fluctuations are presented and compared. It is evident that solar energy has the largest share during the summer months, while wind energy has the highest contribution during the winter months. The results suggest that a suitable combination of photovoltaic and wind power plants could suppress seasonal variations in electricity supply and contribute to its stable production within smaller energy units.

Old - new urban spa
Müllerová, Markéta ; Pospíšil, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
This thesis deals with the revitalization of the Zbrojovka area and the public spa built by Bohuslav Fuchs. The Zbrojovka area is located along the Svitava river in the northeastern part of Brno. In the past, Zbrojovka was an important industrial centre of the city. Duing the 90's it started to lose its importance similarly as the other industrial zones and nowadays only a part of the buildings is used, while the rest is slowly going to the bad. The public spa was built in the 30's as one of the several city waterworks projects providing daily hygiene for Brno citizens. The area is divided into two parts, the summer part, where the outdoor pool is located, and the winter part, where baths and showers could be found. Nowadays just the summer part is still in use, the winter one is abandoned. This is the part the project is aimed at. The main goal of the project is to find a new function which will follow up the original purpose.
