Effectiveness of activated carbon in removing pharmaceuticals from water
Kučera, Jakub ; Lukášová, Daniela (referee) ; Biela, Renata (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with micropollutants in drinking water sources, specifically pharmaceuticals and the possibilities of their removal from drinking water. The theoretical part describes the possible pathways for the supply of pharmaceuticals to water sources, the most common types of pharmaceuticals found in water sources and the options for their removal. The practical part of the bachelor thesis is devoted to the concentrations of pharmaceuticals in raw water taken for drinking purposes and comparison of the properties of original and new activated carbon in their removal. Finally, the removal efficiency of selected quality parameters is compared.
Monitoring the effectiveness of the Hosov water treatment plant technology on the quality of drinking water
Gloc, Tomáš ; Látal,, Milan (referee) ; Biela, Renata (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the monitoring of the effectiveness of the Hosov water treatment plant technology on the quality of drinking water, where an analysis of the received data was performed with a subsequent calculation of the efficiency for the technological line of the Hosov WTP in the periods of interest. The theoretical part is processed in the form of research regarding the necessary knowledge and context (resources, legislative limits, technological treatment processes) in contrast to water treatment. In the practical part, two periods of interest were chosen. The first comprehensive time period from the beginning of 2020 to the end of 2022 and the second time period, where the years 2012, 2019 and 2022 were chosen through a longer time interval. For the periods of interest, 6 indicators were monitored (color, turbidity, nitrites, CHSKMn, iron and manganese). Monitoring the concentration of indicators in raw water in selected periods enabled the assessment of changes in the quality of resources over the years. Concentrations of indicators in raw water and then in treated water were used to calculate and evaluate the overal efficiency of the technological line of Hosov WTP.
Grate Biomass Boiler
Kleinová, Martina ; Křemínský, Pavel (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
The main content of the thesis is the design of a steam boiler for biomass of smaller outputs of 6 MW. The fuel of the boiler was chosen spruce wood chip by 40% humidity. The parameters of the superheated steam are a temperature of 420 °C and a pressure of 40 bar. The work includes stoichiometric and thermal calculations, which are determined by fuel composition and output steam parameters. In the annex to the thesis, individual heat-exchange surfaces and the dimensional design of the boiler, including the layout, are marked. This work also features calculations of pressure losses on the part of both media.
Preparation of a laboratory exercise focusing on hydrogen energy storage
Mistrová, Jana ; Vanýsek, Petr (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis describes the preparation of a laboratory experiment focused on hydrogen storage capacity. The experiment deals with hydrogen production, fuel cells, the evaluation its efficiency and hydrogen consumption within a fuel cell. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the energy storage systems, particularly chemical energy storage and hydrogen production. The next part explores fuel cell technologies. Following this, the thesis describes the experiment's preparation, equipment, and fuel cell activation. The final part focuses on the laboratory materials and the report.
A comprehensive technical economic analysis of an electric car and a hydrogen vehicle
Lašák, Ondřej ; Sitek, Tomáš (referee) ; Elbl, Patrik (advisor)
Modern human society has undergone rapid technological development, and, as a result, humanity has begun to change the climate of planet Earth. The result is rising average temperature across the planet and some areas are threatened to become uninhabitable. One of the causes of global warming is the high CO2 emissions arising, among other things, from transportation. That is why transport is being diverted from fossil fuels to alternative energy carriers such as hydrogen or to direct usage of electricity. The aim of this work is to compare a hydrogen car and a battery electric car in terms of emission and energy requirements. In the last part, the economic costs of the transformation of passenger transport to these new fuels are approximated. The comparison includes current conditions and outlook to the future.
Application of cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation on modern gasoline engines
Bazala, Jiří ; Bauer, František (referee) ; Tůma, Jiří (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This document describes the possibilities of increasing the efficiency of an internal combustion engine using cooled EGR (exhaust recirculation system), water injection and their combination. To investigate it the engine model was calibrated based on the experiment. It was investigated the effect of the externally cooled EGR system on key engine parameters such as efficiency, specific fuel consumption, performance and others on this model. Here it was concluded that EGR system has unsatisfactory parameters in terms of the ratio of achieved results and complexity. Therefore, the water injection model was tested on the model and compared with the EGR system. The engine model with water injection was evaluated as more advantageous. Therefore, it was decided to invest available sources to the experimental vehicle with water injection and verify experimental results with model. Using of both systems, the EGR system and water injection, and ideally with the possibility of pre-ignition, appears to be the most suitable combination with regard to the observed parameters.
Energetic model of linear axis with ball screw and servodrive
Sládek, Vojtěch ; Tůma, Jiří (referee) ; Huzlík, Rostislav (advisor)
The aim of the thesis was to study the Energy Models of Linear Axes with Ball Screws and Servo Drives, to analyze the individual parts of the axis with respect to losses, the methodology of calculating the losses on the electrical part and the mechanical part of the drive and creating a complex algorithm that calculates the energy consumed for the specified motion. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part, where the theoretical part is divided into the treatise on the electrical part of the axis and its losses and the part that deals with the mechanical part and its losses. The calculation is divided into the basic verification algorithm and the calculation on the given example. Each calculation is calculated for both linear acceleration and S-curve acceleration. For both types of acceleration, the result of energy and its course over time is also the waveforms of position, velocity, acceleration, angular acceleration, moments, powers, power, speed and currents over time.

Hazucha, Jan ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
Bachelor‘s thesis deals with sorting solid fuels and boilers for solid fuels up to power of 200 kW, it’s most important attributes and legistative claims. Next part of the thesis deals with the impact between of different types of fuels on efficiency.
Connection of Solar Power Plant and Water management
Zajíček, Michal ; Vrána, Michal (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
In the bachelor's thesis Connection of Solar Power Plant and Water management the author designs the technical solution of pump control using solar energy. The main reason is to make an automatic system for pumping the rainwater through filters due to increasing its quality. Powering the device with a solar power plant will reduce the energy requirements and will also make it possible to store surplus energy from the solar power plant into the potential energy of the water. The result of the work is the compact device with an automatic control system designed to control small 12 V pumps, theoretical design of the photovoltaic power plant to power the device and theoretical analysis of solar energy and water management issues.
