The thesis in the field of special education and speech therapy focuses on the issue of speech therapy intervention for bilingual and multilingual children with impaired communication abilities. The theoretical part characterizes the psychomotor development in intact monolingual children. Additionally, attention is given to bilingualism and multilingualism in relation to the development issues in early childhood and preschool age, as well as interventions for these children with impaired communication abilities. The empirical part employs qualitative research methods. It describes the process of selecting respondents, the methodology of the research survey, and its progress, as well as the characteristics of the research sample. This was consisted of preschool and early school-aged children with communication disorders from bilingual and multilingual backgrounds. Individual case studies of the observed children provide a clear overview of the research sample. Semi-structured interviews were used for data collection, subsequently analysed using elements of grounded theory design. Furthermore, the thesis clarifies the interpretation of the research survey and the categories obtained during the data processing. The main objective of this final thesis was to identify and describe the risks and...
Childrens´ speech development with speech defects in preschool age
MALÁ, Petra
This Bachelor thesis on the topic of the Development of Speech in Preschool-aged Children with Logopedic Speech Impairments aims to analyze the development of speech in two children with logopedic impairments by means of observation in a set timeframe. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the regular process of a child's development during the preschool years, as well as the regular development of speech. It also addresses existing logopedic impairments, their causes, their manifestations, and reeducation procedures. The practical part of the thesis is supported by research conducted listening in at two preschool institutions. It contains the case studies of the children observed and evaluates the development of their speech in a given timeframe.
Sestem for removal of children speech defects
Pokorný, Vojtěch ; Sekora, Jiří (referee) ; Harabiš, Vratislav (advisor)
Speech is one of the basic forms of human communication and disruption of communication ability can negatively affect the life of man. deals with the elaboration of logopedic theory, which serves as a basis for the follow-up design and application creation in the field of speech therapy. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with the history of speech therapy with an emphasis on domestic logopaedia, the logopedic intervention process in its entirety, and the differentiation of individual types of impaired communication skills. The second chapter focuses on a specific disruption of communication skills - dyslalia. The application for the treatment of dyslalia is determined by the application, which is elaborated in the third chapter. The fourth chapter contains a detailed description of the designed and created application, including an explanation of the processes running in the application when the application is being used. The last chapter of this diploma thesis contains a summary of the results of the practical testing of the application together with suggestions for improvement of the application.
Logopedic defect analysis and recognition in speech utterances
Diviš, Jan ; Atassi, Hicham (referee) ; Smékal, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with logopaedia mistake called dyslalie and its characteristics. I described the process creation and representation of speech. There are presented bases of processing and analyses speech signal ( LPC, cepstral, MFCC). I presented characteristics of speech and calculation of LPC, cepstral and Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients in the programme MATLAB. The bachelor's thesis includes problems of incorrect pronunciation sound "r" and "ř".
Automatic Recognition of Logopaedic Defect in Speech Utterances
Dušil, Lubomír ; Atassi, Hicham (referee) ; Smékal, Zdeněk (advisor)
The thesis is aimed at an analysis and automatic detection of logopaedic defects in speech utterance. Its objective is to facilitate and accelerate the work of logopaedists and to increase percentage of detected logopaedic defects in children of the youngest possible age followed by the most successful treatment. It presents methods of speech work, classification of the defects within individual stages of child development and appropriate words for identification of the speech defects and their subsequent remedy. After that there are analyses of methods of calculating coefficients which reflect human speech best. Also classifiers which are used to discern and determine whether it is a speech defect or not. Classifiers exploit coefficients for their work. Coefficients and classifiers are being tested and their best combination is being looked for in order to achieve the highest possible success rate of the automatic detection of the speech defects. All the programming and testing jobs has been conducted in the Matlab programme.
Innovative tool for removing bad pronunciation of the letter "R"
Rexová, Natálie ; Sekora, Jiří (referee) ; Harabiš, Vratislav (advisor)
The purpose of this final thesis is to find out about Speech Therapy and to design a device which would help with oscillation of human tongue when the sound r is pronounced. To better understand this subject first part of this thesis takes interest in evolution and physiology of human speech. Next the most common articulation disorder Dyslalia is named and methods for treating Dyslalia are described. In practical part the device for Speech Therapy is designed and created. It is based on frequency of human tongue oscillations and it helps to correct difficulties with sound r articulation. This prototype uses electric motor which is controlled by Arduino platform. Its rotational motion is converted to linear through mechanical construction simulating crank mechanism.
