Syrovátková, Adéla ; Novák, Petr (advisor) ; Cooke, Dana (referee)
Diploma thesis "Integration of People with Mental Illness into the Open Labour Market" discusses the possibilities and conditions of employment in the open labour market for people with schizophrenia in the Czech Republic (focus on Prague 11+4). The paper first introduces the concept of "mental illness" from a theoretical point of view. In my work I first introduce this illness theoretically, I also use professional information from my practice and especially from my more experienced colleagues. I believe that drawing on the perspective of my clients and that of the professional staff is the most appropriate, as they have direct experience of it. In this thesis I conducted qualitative research, interviewing seven people who suffer from mental illness with whom the service has an established relationship. In the form of a questionnaire and a structured interview, I asked the patients, for example, how they perceive their life with mental illness, what difficulties they face in their life and how they manage to integrate into a "healthy" society, especially into employment on the open labour market.

Love and the professional helping relationship between the social worker and the client, not only with mental illness, are complementary. The benefit of including aspects of love in the professional relationship can be the strengthening of mutual trust, which brings a positive effect in the process of achieving the goals of social work. The thesis is theoretical.

Simultaneously, the thesis discusses the concept of mental illness and its categorisation in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). The focus is on the state of mental illness in the Czech Republic. Subsequently, prominent research papers dealing with the framing of mental illness are presented. The aim of the quantitative content analysis of this thesis is to find out how Czech daily newspapers framed mental illness in the years 2018, 2020, 2022. The analysis focuses on which illnesses are mentioned, how the mentally ill are presented, how the media frame the causes and solutions of mental illness, and which sources journalists quote. The results show that stigmatising stories are the most common and that journalists tend to use episodic framing. The most cited illnesses were depression and drug addiction, and very often journalists did not specify the exact diagnosis at all.
