Restoration of the former fast in Hodíškov
Centner, Václav ; Špiller, Martin (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to develop the concept of the studio work from the first semester of the third year, which we originally took from concept to documentation for the building permit in part B. Furthermore, the design was finalized in the documentation C for the implementation of the construction. The actual topic was the restoration of the fast house in Hodíšek, which has long since lost its original purpose and is now used as council housing for non-domestic local residents. The Rychta has also undergone several alterations to try to bring new qualities to it, which have been rather contradictory. The Rychta is located in Hodíškov, which is a small village among the hills of the Highlands. We drove to the place through winding roads barely wide enough for one car. Around the roads there were grown-up houses and we actually felt a bit like in another world after arriving from Brno. The Rychta stands on a hill, separating the former sugar factory from the rest of the village. From the hill the tavern looks down on the village and looks majestic as the patron saint of the place. There is also a small pond in the village, which makes the local climate more pleasant and provides a home for all kinds of animals and plants. Hodíškov has 150 inhabitants, so the fast house with its farm wing exceeds the capacity of the locals' demands for a place where they can meet and hold public gatherings. Therefore, in connection with the romantic nature of the place, I thought that the fast house with its farm wing could serve as a setting for weddings and larger social events. This will allow me to bring a more generous spatial experience to the vaulted spaces in the farm wing and restore the spirit of the interior spaces that has been lost during the remodeling of the past years. In my approach to the heritage values of the fast house I am trying to restore its dignity and grandeur on the other hand not forgetting and denying its history which has been so tarnished. Different parameters apply to the economic wing. During the rebuilding process, there were attempts to bring it closer to the speedway with various façade elements and the like. In working with these two buildings I try to establish firmly where each stands and what its role is and was. The wedding program required increased accommodation capacity, which I solved by adding a "barn" to the rear yard space.
Mix/Match Brno
Hešlarová, Martina ; Rozwalka, Szymon (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
The aim of the thesis was to create a proposal for suitable development in the gap on Hlinky Street, offering affordable and shared housing options for various groups of residents, supporting their integration into the community while respecting their privacy needs. The proposal also includes a public function in the form of a café and coworking spaces, serving as places for socializing and interaction, strengthening social cohesion in the area. The project focuses on creating a concept that not only responds to the needs of locals but also appropriately complements the surrounding development.
Mix/Match Brno
Denissenko, Daniil ; Havliš, Karel (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
Contemporary large cities are facing a housing crisis, which includes insufficient residential units, soaring rents, and insufficient capacity to meet the demand for affordable living. One pressing issue is the scarcity of temporary accommodations for students and living spaces for recent graduates embarking on their careers amidst steep rental prices. The project explores innovative housing solutions tailored to specified social groups. Implemented in the gap between two existing structures on Hlinky Street, opposite the Brno Exhibition Centre in the historic Old-Brno district, it presents affordable communal living for students, accessible housing for graduates, and integrates commercial amenity, which can thrive in the urban structure of the area.
House of dignified old age Ivanovice
Svatošová, Antonie ; Klimecký, Martin (referee) ; Gerö, Jiří (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor's thesis is the design of the new-build Home of Dignified Old Age. The building is located in the centre of the city district called Brno-Ivanovice. The front of the proposed structure faces the square in order to complete the view side of the village square and, simultaneously, complete and precisely define the area. Both the ambience and environment of the village are reflected by the layout and height elevation of the design. The floor plan is divided into four blocks interconnected by connecting necks. By organizing individual blocks of construction around the inner yard, the building builds on the layout of the farm buildings of the existing village development. More than a half the land of an irregular shape is occupied by the designed structure while the remaining part of the property is intended to be transformed into parking spaces, an access road and a leisure park. Vertically, the new building is divided in two diverse manners - in the frontage and as a whole. The front of the building adds one vertical dominant to the existing buildings, whose dominance co-creates a coherent look. Notwithstanding the design of the front, the structure of the rest of the new-built is divided into several levels within individual blocks. The main reason for this breakdown is the need to illuminate the entire complex with natural light. Sunlight, thus, falls across the lowest southern single-storey building on to three-storey blocks and, moreover, into the courtyard area. The single-storey block is connected to the two-storey ones by a three-storey block so that the height differences feel continuous. The design of the building and its immediate surroundings is intentionally without barriers. The House of Dignified Age contains 21 separate housing units that are divided into three categories. The allotment is based on the level of implementation of barrier-free spaces that each individual housing unit meets. In addition to the apartments, the premises are designated for service staff, a doctor's office, a care home and a dining room. Indoor and outdoor social spaces are designed to host events as well as informal gatherings. The operation of the proposed home for the elderly should provide users with a quiet, cultured and enriching environment for living with the opportunity to create new social connections.
Motel for truck drivers in India
Navrátilová, Petra ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The subject of the assignment is the design of a new motel in India that provides its participating party, mainly truck drivers, 3 different levels of rest: a quick stop for rest and refreshment, areas for sharing and eating food, areas for sleeping and longer rest, all in a cost-effective way. The parcel is located in the west of the city of Kannadi. There are no existing buildings on it and the surrounding land is used for agricultural purposes. A slip road from National Highway 544, which connects Salem in Tamil Nadu and Kochi in Kerala, will be taken to the site. The motel is located approximately in the middle of the site. Truck park is located at the back/north of the site so that the motel is clearly visible from the highway. There is car park in the front part of the site. The motel is inspired by the nalukettu house, which is typical for the region. The fundamental building block of the entire motel are two two-story blocks where the accommodation units are located. These blocks are enclosed by solid walls, protecting the rooms from noise and overheating. The heart of the house is the courtyard, to which the surrounding rooms are directed. Through this courtyard, the sun enters the rooms and they are also ventilated by it. The dining and social part is located near the road, which can also serve non-accommodating guests (bistro, store and public toilets). The glass facade supports the magnetizing attention of customers. Thanks to the trucks park in the back part of the site, a corridor was created and connects it with the front part. From the corridor there is access to secondary and storage areas, through a light-lit door. From there, guests can also reach two almost identical two-story accommodation blocks via the reception. There are cell rooms in them, including an entrance hall, sanitary facilities and two four-bed rooms. The right block include a barrier-free room on the 1st floor. The front part of the motel, which is also accessible to the public, is divided into 2 parts. The left half contains the shop and public toilets and the right bistro with service areas. Materials are selected with regard to sustainability, locality and high quality, such as thermal permeability, acoustics or fire safety. The structural system is mixed, made of brick blocks and reinforced concrete columns, reinforced concrete ceilings and a floor. The facade is pre-set wall made of recycled burnt bricks. The interiors are covered with clay plaster.

LIBRARY plus - Multiporpouse Building with Library
Ambrosová, Katarína ; Ponešová, Barbora (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
Through the proposal, an idea of hybridised space for developement of two types of human knowledge – the skills and the wisdom, learnable through the language, is brought to life. Main building is proposed as an essential facility for Brno technological community, which is set to a symbiosis with technical library, where the books become more of a cullis, a scenery, than a main point of gaining information. Everything takes place on the same physical and virtual data platform. Architectonical solution is based on the principles of double staircase, which allows to coexist two separated functions, as well as they can be connected when needed, for example during events as workshops, lectures and so on. A centre of share knowledge is made.

The concept is based on the character of the place, a small allotment and historical monitoring the shape of the enclosing area of the square and Starobrněnská street. An interesting problem is also linked to the different heights of objects spalicek a townhouse on the corner of Town Hall Street, which is considering a proposal to reconstruct the original image.
Brno waterfront - rehabilitation of rivers and their surrounding areas
Vrba, Petr ; Řehák, Filip (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The theme of the diploma thesis "Brno waterfront - rehabilitation of the Brno rivers and their surroundings" is creating an urban proposal in Brno, Zábrdovice, on the eastern waterfront of the Svitava river. The intention is to use the potential of the area and create the possibility of lucrative housing by river with a commercial ground floor, services, leisure time park with a multifunctional playground and easy direct access to the Svitava river. The studied location, has an area of 6.32 hectares andis defined mainly by the Zábrdovická Street and the Svitava River near the former Premonstratensian Monastery, which now serves as a Military Hospital. At present, the location has mainly low-floor industrial buildings with storage and expedition functions. The proposed buildings relate to existing buildings on the east and west banks of the Svitava River. They have the form of four to six storey blocks, which are characteristic for this area. The park connects to the revitalized eastern embankment of the river at the site of a new footbridgethat connects both rive sides and stairs. They provide space formeetings and relaxation, but also serve as a flood control in the event of a water inflow. Along the Svitava River there is a sidewalk with street alleyways and access to the river.
