Applications of descriptive set theory in mathematical analysis
Doležal, Martin ; Zelený, Miroslav (advisor) ; Holický, Petr (referee) ; Zapletal, Jindřich (referee)
We characterize various types of σ-porosity via an infinite game in terms of winning strategies. We use a modification of the game to prove and reprove some new and older in- scribing theorems for σ-ideals of σ-porous type in locally compact metric spaces. We show that there exists a closed set which is σ-(1 − ε)-symmetrically porous for every 0 < ε < 1 but which is not σ-1-symmetrically porous. Next, we prove that the realizable by an action unitary representations of a finite abelian group Γ on an infinite-dimensional complex Hilbert space H form a comeager set in Rep(Γ, H). 1
Definable graphs
Grebík, Jan ; Chodounský, David (advisor) ; Kurka, Ondřej (referee) ; Zapletal, Jindřich (referee)
In this thesis we consider various questions and problems about graphs that appear in the framework of descriptive set theory. The main object of study are graphons, graphings and variations of the graph G0. We establish an approach to the compactness of the graphon space via the weak* topology and introduce the notion of a fractional isomorphism for graphons. We use a variant of the G0-dichotomy in the context of the classification problem. Finally, we show a measurable version of the Vizing's theorem for graphings. 1

The dissertation thesis consists of two thematic parts. The first part, i.e. chapters 2, 3 and 4, contains results concerning the topic of a new book of the supervisor and coauthors V. Kanovei and M. Sabok "Canonical Ramsey Theory on Polish Spaces". In Chapter 2, there is proved a canonization of all equivalence relations Borel reducible to equivalences definable by analytic P-ideals for the Silver ideal. Moreover, it investigates and classifies sube- quivalences of the equivalence relation E0. In Chapter 3, there is proved a canonization of all equivalence relations Borel reducible to equivalences de- finable by Fσ P-ideals for the Laver ideal and in Chapter 4, we prove the canonization for all analytic equivalence relations for the ideal derived from the Carlson-Simpson (Dual Ramsey) theorem. The second part, consisting of Chapter 5, deals with the existence of universal and ultrahomogeneous Polish metric structures. For instance, we construct a universal Polish metric space which is moreover equipped with countably many closed relations or with a Lipschitz function to an arbitrarily chosen Polish metric space. This work can be considered as an extension of the result of P. Urysohn who constructed a universal and ultrahomogeneous Polish metric space.

Ultrafilters and independent systems

This work presents an overview of several different methods for construct- ing ultrafilters. The first part contains constructions not needing additional assumptions beyond the usual axioms of Set Theory. K. Kunen's method using independent systems for constructing weak P-points is presented. This is followed by a presentation of its application in topology (the proof of the existence of sixteen topological types due to J. van Mill). Finally a new con- struction due to the author is presented together with a proof of his result, the existence of a seventeenth topological type: ω∗ contains a point which is discretely untouchable, is a limit point of a countable set and the countable sets having it as its limit point form a filter. The second part looks at constructions which use additional combina- torial axioms and/or forcing. J. Ketonen's construction of a P-point and A. R. D. Mathias's construction of a Q-point are presented in the first two sections. The next sections concentrate on strong P-points introduced by C. Laflamme. The first of these contains a proof of a new characterization theorem due jointly to the author, A. Blass and M. Hrušák: An ultrafilter is Canjar if and only if it is a strong P-point. A new proof of Canjar's the- orem on the existence of non-dominating filters (Canjar filters) which uses...
