Occurence and analysis of past tenses in the work of contemporary French author

TITLE: Occurrence and analysis of past tenses in the work of contemporary French author AUTHOR: Aleš Sedlmeier DEPARTMENT: Department of French Language and Literature SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Eva Müllerová, Csc. ABSTRACT: This work in the field of French linguistics gives a partial view of the system of past tenses in French, and their use in the work of contemporary French writer. It is divided into two main parts, theoretical part and a practical part, which are complemented by an introduction and a conclusion summarizing the results of the analysis. In the theoretical part, the author first outlines the relationship between the perception of time and language, and then presents the different past tenses by studying mainly French and Czech linguists. For each tense they are presented the characteristics and uses of the abundant number of examples. The practical part is devoted to analysis of the use of past tenses in three selected works of French writer. There is emphasized ratio of occurrences in different works and how they use. Based on the analysis drawn appropriate partial conclusions about the current application of past tenses in literary writing. 5 ABSTRACT: The present thesis deals with history textbook usage in lower secondary school classes. It focuses on the work methods in French history books and their possible application within the Czech system while taking the pupils' perspective into consideration. The theoretical part introduces history instruction in France and work methods used in their textbooks. The focal point of the thesis is its practical part, a case study of two study units that were prepared based on French textbooks; "Townsmen, trade and slavery" and "Women and feminism in 19 th century". These were taught in two year-eight history classes. The results and discussion consist mainly of the analysis of work outputs and pupils' feedback on the used materials. The conclusion outlines possible means of inspiration for Czech schools by the French methods analysed in the case studies. Activities of the District Action Committee of the National Front in Brandýs nad Labem after 21 February 1948

This work concerns the activities of the District Action Committee of National Front in Brandýs nad Labem between the years 1948 and 1950. In particular it deals with the topic of communist repression against differently thinking individuals, who took an active part in public life, political parties or associations such as Sokol. It details the formation, structure and functioning of action committees and their relation to the national committees. Next, the work concerns the committees' intervention in economics or in parliamentary elections in 1948 in relation to the repressions against action committees.
