Foreigners in the Czech Republic: history, trends and patterns
Stejskal, Jan ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
Foreigners in the Czech Republic: history, trends and patterns Abstract This bachelor thesis focuses on foreigners legally residing in the Czech Republic from the demographic perspective. It is based primarily on data on foreigners that are available from public sources. It presents fundamental legal regulations that affect the residence of foreigners in Czechia, it also discusses the statistical registration of foreigners and the main sources of data about them. Attention is paid to the history of international migration in Czechia, to the development of the number of foreigners in Czechia, acquisition of Czech citizenship by foreigners and international protection in the Czech Republic. Space is also devoted to the demographic events and processes of foreigners, to their demographic patterns and the spatial distribution of foreigners in the Czech Republic. This thesis offers international comparisons of the number of foreigners with the member countries of the European Union. It also focuses on the Ukrainian refugee crisis that started in 2022. A new contribution of this thesis is analysis of mortality of foreigners and the structure of live births of foreigners in 2021 and 2022 including a comparison with the population of Czech citizens. It can serve as a basis for more more in-depth analysis in the...
Hough Transform and its Variants
Stejskal, Jan ; Přinosil, Jiří (referee) ; Říha, Kamil (advisor)
This thesis focuses on basic principles of Hough transform for the detection of lines, circles and arbitrary shapes, their algorithms, computational complexity and preparation of a picture for detection. The description of implementation of individual algorithms and creation of an aplication that demonstrates their properties. Implementation has been done in programming language MS Visual C++ with the help of open source library OpenCV and user interface has been created using IDE Qt Creator 4.13.2 (Community).
Test of Vibration Power Generator with Longitudinal Coil
Stejskal, Jan ; Březina, Lukáš (referee) ; Hadaš, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis deals with activation and testing of Vibration Power Generator with Longitudinal Coil which was designed at Brno University of Technology. One of goals of the thesis is to compile simulating model of this device and to compare its results with data gained from measuring device used while testing on the vibration stand. This Vibration Power Generator could be theoretically used in aerospace industry as well as in other branches of industry. It´s important to minimalize its dimensions and weight as much as possible. On the other hand, there are some parameters which should stay unchanged with respect to troublefree work of the device. According to those facts, some changes of construction were proposed within this thesis.
Conception of a conical splitter for wood
Stejskal, Jan ; Pokorný, Přemysl (referee) ; Hloušek, David (advisor)
This bachelor thesis consists of an introductory research part and a structural draft of a conical wood splitter with typed technical parameters and maximal log length and width. The thesis contains computing and strength examination of chosen components and final evaluation of designed construction from the law standards viewpoint.
The flow of magnetic liquid with Bingham model application
Stejskal, Jan ; Krausová, Hana (referee) ; Haluza, Miloslav (advisor)
Main topic of this thesis are magnetic fluids. These are specific type of fluids which can simplistically be considered as Bingham fluids. Main issues regarding the magnetic fluids mentioned in this thesis are: rheological properties of the magnetic fluids, behaviour of the magnetic fluids and the use of the magnetic fluids in industrial applications. Main goal is to apply Binghams model on the the magnetic fluids assuming that this model can be applied with a good accuracy. Equations which describe behaviour of the Bingham fluids are constructed. Some assumptions which have to be respected to use this analytical equations for magnetic fluids are formulated. Flow of bingham fluid is analytically solved in some simplificated cases with consideration of laminar flow. Analytical results are confronted with numerical ones obtained from CFD software Fluent for the purpose of verification.
Forensic analysis of handwriting for the Czech environment using artificial intelligence
Stejskal, Jan ; Přinosil, Jiří (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
The analysis of handwriting is an important area of research in modern science. However, it is a very complex process because handwritten text can take on various forms. The use of artificial intelligence for analyzing and identifying text from different authors is nothing new in the world. Research in this area is, however, slightly lagging behind in the Czech environment. For this reason, several convolutional network architectures were proposed and compared in this work in an effort to find the most suitable structure for solving this problem. Of all the trained and tested models, the model based on the ResNet18 architecture achieved the highest accuracy, with a success rate of 92.2 % on a self-made database of 1328 samples with a resolution of 750x256. This result suggests that with a sufficiently large and high-quality database, the problem can be solved even in the Czech environment with its more complicated character set.
Assessment of drought response in local Scots pine ecotypes using anatomical, biochemical, and fluorescence stress markers.
Štěpánová, Kristýna ; Lhotáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Stejskal, Jan (referee)
Global climate change and associated global warming is already a problem for temperate forest ecosystems and will continue to exacerbate the problem in the coming decades. Many species will have to adapt to a multifactorial combination of stresses, with increases in average air temperature, frequency and intensity of precipitation increasing drought episodes and drought-affected areas will enlarge. It is necessary to find ways to help the landscape cope with these intensifying phenomena. The possibility of planting suitable tree species that can manage water efficiently and survive even in periods of intense water scarcity is an option. The drought tolerance of trees is related to their phenotypic plasticity and ecotypic differentiation. Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) is characterised by modest ecological demands on the environment and climate of the habitat, is phenotypically plastic and relatively drought resistant. The objectives of this study were 1) to evaluate and compare the response of different Scots pine ecotypes to drought stress due to reduced water availability using anatomical, biochemical, and fluorescence indicators of physiological status, and 2) to determine the biochemical phenotype of selected genotypes within a local Scots pine ecotype in a seed orchard in terms of...
Possibilities of improving the service of a selected company
Stejskal, Jan ; Janák, Vladimír (advisor) ; Štědroň, Jakub (referee)
Title: Possibilities of improving the service of a selected company Marketing research of customer satisfaction Objectives: The purpose of this diploma thesis is to create a proposal to improve the Surf Camp in Portugal in the upcoming season. The evaluation of current customers satisfaction was achieved through both the standpoint of its customers as well as its management. Methods: Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used to evaluate the customers satisfaction. The main research methods used were questionnaire surveys, an interview using the instruction with the company's owner and employ and internal data analysis. Results: The results of this diploma thesis are shown in graphs, tables and classification crosses. The data obtained helped to identify opportunities for improvement, and based on them, suggestions and recommendations were made to improve Surf Camp in Portugal. This proposal was submitted to the Surf Camp management. Key words: Services, customer satisfaction, sports marketing, GAP model.
