Methods of investigation of murders (selected issues)
Polívková, Lucie ; Štourač, Petr (advisor) ; Krupička, Jiří (referee)
in English The topic of the thesis is the " The Methodology of Investigation of Murders (selected issues)". The topic is too broad for the limited capacity of the dissertation. While writing the thesis, after the necessary theoretical introduction (which contains the definition of crimes against life, medical definition of death, etc.), I focused only on the initial stage of the investigation of the crime of murder. I specifically focused on the discovery of the body, on securing the crime scene, on autopsy and on the demarcation of investigative versions. Next stage of the investigation is only briefly summarized in the ninth chapter. The thesis is divided into ten chapters. The first chapter explains basic terms, especially murder, murder of a newborn baby by its mother and other crimes against life, such as manslaughter, negligent homicide and assistance to suicide. This chapter also includes medical definition of death, and a brief description of the post-mortem changes. The second chapter consists of brief statistics on the number of murders in the Czech Republic between the periods 2000 to 2012. It contains two graphs; the first graph shows the evolution of the total number of murders each year and their solving. The second graph divides murders according to the specific motives. The third...

Physiotherapy of patients after osteosynthesis of the talocrural joint fracture
POLÍVKOVÁ, Lucie
Fractures in the area of the talocrural joint are among the most common fractures in the lower extremity. Mostly they are open fractures due to poor soft tissue cover around the joint. The high injury rate is mainly due to the fact that it is a highly loaded part of the foot. These injuries are often caused by sprain (supination, pronation, rotation) of the ankle joint with ligament damage at this site. As a result, the external ankle, inner ankle, or both ankles may break off and dislocate, even with the rear edge of the distal tibia breaking off. At the same time, a swelling at the fracture site and a blood sprain can develop. The treatment is usually operative (only in the case of dislocated fracture types), namely by fixing with screws and splints (osteosynthesis) and reconstruction of collateral ligaments. Patients immediately after these surgical procedures tend to have an ankle restrained and unstable, not to exert too much foot pressure on the foot, etc. Early physiotherapy, which is in the form of medical-physical training, stabilization and strength training, is important to restore the patient to normal life. Thanks to the timely initiation of physiotherapy, restoring the proper functioning of this joint and adapting to normal daily stress is easier.

The process of family coping with the birth of a child with severe disabilities.
POLÍVKOVÁ, Lucie
The subject of this work is how a family copes with a childbirth in case the child is handicapped. In the theoretical part I focus on the family, on its functions, roles, its relationships and on its functions as a system. Furthermore I write about etiology, handicap classification and about family and handicapped child. The object of this work is to find out which factors influence the process of conciliation with the fact that a handicapped child was born (parent's age and education, attitude of other family members, attitude of medical staff and the way of telling information to parents) and to verify whether parents get enough information about their child's condition, whether they understand it and whether acceptation of handicapped child by family means new dimension of their life. In practical part I use qualitative research to find aims in five different families. Data collection was realized via half-structured interview and narative research with parents, in one case with a sibling and in another case even in presence of the handicapped person. Results of the research point out that neither age nor education are important and influencing factor, the attitude of family members is partially important, however the attitude of medical staff and the way of telling information is a very important factor. Understanding of information about child's condition and its sufficiency turned out to be individual. Nevertheless all families agreed that they see the handicap as a new dimension of life.
