Racist legislation of Nazi Germany
V prvni kapitole vymezuji zakladni pojmy rasismus a antisemitismus, rasove teorie a vůdcovsky princip, neboť tvořily integralni součast nacisticke ideologie. Druha kapitola obsahuje nastin politicke a ekonomicke situace v povalečnem Německu, postupny vzestup Nacionalněsocialisticke německe dělnicke strany v čele s Adolfem Hitlerem, převzeti moci nacisty a prvni fazi protižidovských opatřeni. 1
Urbanization of poverty in developing countries
Kubelková, Jana ; Novotný, Josef (advisor) ; Ptáček, Pavel (referee)
Urbanization of poverty is a complex process which includes various interactions between poverty and growth of urban population. In quantitative terms, it reflects not only the rural-urban migration but also the growth of cities associated with the incorporation of surrounding rural areas and natural population increase within the cities. Moreover, it also includes many important qualitative changes resulting from different nature of rural and urban lifestyles. The paper firstly describes the current state of the urbanization of poverty and its development trends. In addition, different nature of urban and rural poverty is emphasized and potential sources of vulnerability of urban poor are discussed. The specificity of urban poverty is contextualized into African cities. In the second part of the paper, the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSP) are analyzed examining whether and how they deal with the problems related to the urbanization of poverty. This is provided both at general level and with respect to the case study of Zambia at national level and case study of informal settlement Ezbet Bekhit in Cairo at local level. The paper finds out that the urbanization of poverty has been proceeding at a high rate of growth in many developing countries and it is dominantly caused by natural increase....
The Social State Building in Developing Countries: A Case Study from Rural India
Kubelková, Jana
A favourable macroeconomic performance of many developing countries has been accompanied with apparent needs to make the growth socially inclusive. The social state building and social protection is gradually considered as a crucial element of economic and social development strategies in developing countries. Previous concern based predominantly on a basic-needs approach is gradually shifting towards a rights-based approach (associated mainly with socio-economic rights). This new generation of social protection stresses an active involvement of all actors in development process and investments in human capital building. Indian Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) is one of the biggest social intervention ever undertaken and is used as an example of such shifts. MGNREGA has emerged as a major effort of Indian government to mitigate number of problems in rural India. This thesis provides a multidimensional analysis focusing on various effects of MGNREGA and their interaction in a given regional context, when it is widely and properly implemented. A case study from rural Tamil Nadu draws on 1264 structured interviews in households and 125 semi-structured interviews with local employers and officials. It shows a distinction among diverse MGNREGA impacts when it is seen as a...
