Options of determining the frost resistance of concrete in a structure
Jindrová, Barbora ; Vymazal, Tomáš (referee) ; Kocáb, Dalibor (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with different methods of determining levels of degradation of concrete due to freezing, also considering the options of freeze thaw resistance determination in structure. At first the properties of concrete and possible mechanisms of concrete degradation are described – mainly the effects of freezing water in the inner structure and of the combination of freezing water and de-icing chemicals on the surface. Principle and properties of air-entrained concrete are also mentioned. An overview of the approaches that current standards use to determine the freeze-thaw resistance of concrete is listed, followed by description of the tests that are used on air-entrained concrete specimens in the main part of the thesis. A portion of the test specimens was made in moulds while the rest was obtained from structure (concrete block). The non-destructive tests used are evaluated in several different ways and their results are compared with the destructive tests. Comparison and evaluation of different approaches used to determine the freeze-thaw resistence of concrete are the main outcome of this thesis.
The Use of the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test for the Determination of Concrete Homogeneity in a Structure
Jindrová, Barbora ; Daněk, Petr (referee) ; Kocáb, Dalibor (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the basics of diagnostics of structures and states the most frequently used methods. In the context of non-destructive diagnostics, there is described the ultrasonic pulse velocity test in detail, along with it’s principle and possible ways of application. The main content of the thesis is description and application of several approaches that are offered by the ultrasonic pulse testing instrument Pundit PL-200 by Proceq SA. The results of several measurements, performed both in laboratory and in situ, are processed here, focusing mainly on the assessment of the comparability of values acquired with different measuring settings on the same element. Another conclusion is the determination of concrete homogeneity in the structures according to the standard ČSN 73 2011.
Reading comprehension among pupils at third grafe of elementary schools
Jindrová, Barbora ; Kučerová, Olga (advisor) ; Kucharská, Anna (referee)
The present thesis deals with the issue of reading comprehension of pupils in the 3rd grade of elementary school taught by the Sfumato reading method. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part introduces the concepts of reading, some sub-skills for the development of reading comprehension. We also describe some reading methods used in Czech education, focusing more on the Sfumato reading method. The last chapter is devoted to a reflection on the influence of distance learning on the acquisition of reading by beginning readers. The practical section presents research whose primary aim was to describe the typical developmental level of reading 3rd grade students taught using the Sfumato reading method. The secondary aim was to compare the average performance of pupils of this method with the analytic-synthetic and genetic methods. The research sample consisted of 45 pupils of the 3rd grade of the Sfumato method from a total of 3 primary schools in the Czech Republic. The pupils were administered the PorTex diagnostic battery. The empirical part is divided into descriptive and analytical parts. The descriptive part focuses on the description of the developmental picture of pupils of the 3rd year of the Sfumato method in reading skills. In the analytical part,...
Effect of whole body vibration therapy on postural stability in Charcote-Marie-Tooth.
Jindrová, Barbora ; Pospíšilová, Mariana (advisor) ; Vinciková, Lenka (referee)
Objective: Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is the most common hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy. Genetic mutation causes neurological disorder of peripheral nervous system. Diseases most common signs and symptoms are distal muscle weakness, foot deformities and somatosensory defect. One of the most notable consequences of the disease is balance disorder. The goal of this study was to ascertain impact of one-off application of vibration therapy on postural stability in CMT and referential group. Method: There were 16 patients diagnosed with CMT that participated in the research, 15 of which finished all procedures (average age 44.3 years, age ranges from 25 to 57 years, 12 woman and 3 men). Referential group was composed of healthy people of similar sex and age. All probands underwent measuring on Balance Master before vibration therapy, immediately after and 30 minutes later. The therapy take place in standing position in the Power Plate, therapy lasted for 5 minutes. Results: A significant improvement of Endpoint Excursion, Maximum Excursion, Movement Velocity and Sway velocity parameters was established after applying one-off vibration therapy in group of patients diagnosed with CMT. This effect endured 30 min after vibration therapy. Also we discovered that vibration therapy has stronger...
Connection between reading and writing as basic literacy skills in the 2nd and 3rd grade of elementary school
Jindrová, Barbora ; Kučerová, Olga (advisor) ; Kucharská, Anna (referee)
This bachelor thesis is concerned with connections of reading and writing skills with pupils of 2nd and 3rd grades at primary school. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is focused on introduction of several concepts of reading and writing, the context of the silent and the loud reading, the difference between the cursive writing and the Comenia Script writing type. Several foreign reasearchers, which are presented in this thesis, are related to the connection between reading and writing. Last chapter of the theoretical part is methodological focusing on the definition of the content of curriculum of 2nd and 3rd grade at primary school. The practical part consists of a research which main focus is to describe the connection between reading and writing skills and to discover the influence of writing types and gender on the performance in reading comprehension. The reasearch sample was conprised of 271 pupils of 2nd and 3rd grades attending 9 primary schools in the Czech Republic. The pupils were assigned a test of silent reading with comprehension Velcí kamarádi or Jedeme na výlet and a writing test Pravopisný test I. The empirical part is composed of the descriptive and the analytical part. The descriptive part is focused on the description of...
Distance education of primary school pupils
Jindrová, Barbora ; Poche Kargerová, Jana (advisor) ; Krčmářová, Tereza (referee)
This thesis describes and discusses distance education of pupils at elementary school. It is divided into a theoretical part and an empirical part. The theoretical part defines the concept of distance education and its changes due to the changes in the Czech education related to the pandemic covid-19. Futhermore, some methodologies and recommendations for the organization of distance education and research are presented. Subsequently, the development of measure abroad is briefly outlined, some foreign studies are presented. Finally, the functions of the school and its importance in the child's life are briefly described. The empirical part describes the research, of which primary goal was to map the organization of distance learning at a selected primary school. The research sample consisted of 7 primary school teachers, as well as a headmaster and school special pedagogue. Based on the analysis of the data from interviews, the course of distance education was determined. The results suggest that the great advantage of the school, which facilitated the transition to distance learning, was the timely setting of rules and general principles of acces to distance learning. Cooperation between pedagogical staff works very well at the school, which facilitates the work of teachers and makes it easier to...
