The effect of exposure to a preferred odour on mental sleep activity and its characteristics and affective state upon waking

Tereza Jankovská Abstract Previous literature shows that preferred odours serve as powerful cues for information retrieval from autobiographic memory and that exposure to odours during sleep affects the emotional tone of dreams. In the present study, we sought to investigate how continuous stimulation with a preferred odour influences various dream characteristics, dream emotions, and post-sleep core affect during all-night exposure. Eighteen healthy adults were invited to visit the sleep laboratory three times in weekly intervals. The first visit served to adapt the participants to the laboratory environment. On the second visit, half of the participants were exposed to an odour they chose themselves or to the odourless control condition. On the third visit, they received control or exposure in a balanced order. On each visit, the participants were woken up from the rapid eye movement (REM) sleep stage. Dream pleasantness, emotional charge of the dream, positive and negative emotions experienced in the dream, and four dimensions of post-sleep core affect (valence, activation, pleasant activation-unpleasant deactivation, and unpleasant activation-pleasant deactivation) were assessed. How Teachers' Authority Appears to Lower Secondary School Students

This thesis deals with the issue of teacher authority from the perspective of lower secondary school students. The aim of this work was to find out what characteristics in the eyes of the students determine the level of teacher authority and which ones weaken it. At the same time, the aim was to find out how students imagine an ideal teacher. The theoretical section includes chapters on authority, authority in education, teacher authority, and the contemporary perceptions of authority. The practical section of the thesis consists of a comparison of three primary schools and their students' perceptions of teacher authority. It includes information gathered from interviews with the headmasters of the schools, as well as an analysis of a questionnaire survey conducted among their pupils. Influence of massmedia to upbringing of children

This thesis is about mass media and their influence on upbringing. Theoretical part of thesis is focused on problems of mass media and upbringing and influence of mass media on upbringing. There are describe types and functions of mass media, their influence on the society, furthermore individually upbringing categories and specifics of 21st century. Thesis is closer focused on description of influence on individually digital mass media for upbringing, also on personality of child, and child support for right using mass media at last. In practical are descriptions and results of research through questionnaire which was focused on survey influence mass media in particular cases and their comparison.

Genetic diversity of chosen horse breeds

The objective of the thesis is to clarify the findings about genetical biodiversity of horses, evaluation of the diversity and description of current state of genetic resources preservation. Firstly, the history is described, domestication of horses, breeds and biodiversity. From the genetic point of view, the thesis contains description of the genetical diversity, microsatellites, markers and mitochondria. There are described genetic sources and their preservation. Current quantities and thein progress are also mentioned.
