Quality of life of patients with degenerative disease of the spine

The presenting project regarging 'Quality of life in patiens with degenerative disorders of the spine' is subdivided into two parts - first theoretical introduction, second the empirical part. Theoretical part consists of an anatomical and fysiological issues of the spine, description of the low back pain syndrome, degenerative disorders of the spine with it's symptomatology, diagnosis, treatment and nursing. In the empirical part I followed a cohort of patients. Each of the patient fulfilled a'Quality of life questionare' prior to spinal surgery and at least six months after spinal surgery, then the results were compared. The median age group was 60 yo, i.e. 44.12 % of all operated patients with degenerative spinal disorders. 41.18 % of the patients went to vocational school and 41.18 % were manual workers with physically demanding work. According to the results, quality of life after spinal surgery was overall improved, low back pain lessened and patients reduced using pain killers. There was s signifiant improvement in daily acivities and patients subjectively felt theirselves in better health condition.
Caesarian Section on Demand - Yes or No

The topic of this bachelor thesis is "Caesarean section on demand". The thesis deals with women's interest in undergoing the surgery at their own request and with the reasons behind their choice. It consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the history of obstetrics, on Caesarean section, indications for a Caesarean section, possible methods, anesthesia, potential complications and spontaneous delivery. The empirical part is based on quantitative research. By means of a questionnaire, women have been asked whether they are interested in undergoing Caesarean section at their own request and what are the reasons behind their choice. The empirical part further examines whether women are interested in choosing their preferred type of anesthesia and what this type is. The total number of respondents who participated in the survey was 82; they had been chosen randomly. The survey was conducted in January 2014. Its results have shown that only 37,80% of respondents are interested in Caesarean section at their own request. Sources of stress, workload, and dissatisfaction in the work of nurses

If we happen to be a patient we expect nursing staff to provide us with the best care. But an overloaded nurse cannot meet all needs of all her patients sufficently and provide the first - class nursing care. The aim is to look into the source of stress, strain and dissatisfaction in a work of nurses. Theoretical part aquaints the readers with the contemporary scientific findings in work stress and burnout syndrome of nursing staff. The second chapter deals besides other things, with analysis of mental, social and physical requirements which are necessary for the nursing profession. The empirical part is based on an qualitative research. With the help of semi-structured interviews we recieve unique professional experience of seven respondents who work for the Czech Health Service on the nurse position. The centre of analalytical procedure is a thematic analysis. In our research we find out that nurses lose their energy due to the lack of mental support and appreciation from the side of management and fellow workers. Our respondents meet health workers suffering from burnout syndrome at their workplace. Respect to human dignity of critically ill patients at ICU and ARD

This bachelor's thesis is focused on the issue of respect for dignity of patients at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Department (ARD). The main objective of this work was to determine how nurses perceive and respect the human dignity of patients in intensive care. Furthermore, to determine which procedures are the most harmful to dignity and whether nurses respect the rights of patients and the Code of Ethics. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter defines the basic terms: human dignity, intimacy, shame, personality, morality, ethics and patients' rights. The second chapter is focused on document Essence of Care 2010, part of which deals with the issue of respect for human dignity in health and social care. The third chapter describes the important virtues, qualities and communication skills of nurses. The practical part describes objectives, methodology and organization of research. The research group involved 86 nurses (10 men, 76 women). All respondents work at ICU and ARD at the General University Hospital in Prague. Parents' attitude to prevention of viral diseases in children

Key words: parents, children, viral diseases, prevention, attitude Besides introduction and discussion and conclusion, the thesis consists of 3 chapters of theoretic part and the research part. The first chapter of theoretical part forms the general terms viruses and viral diseases. I have mentioned the biology of viruses and its characteristics. The second part of this chapter deals with the most frequent viral diseases in child age. I have described the ways of infection, diseases manifestation, possible complications and shortly the therapy too. The second chapter focuses on the immunity system of children. I have explained this issue generally at first, then I have described the function of immunity and later I have mentioned the development of immunity in children. At the end of the second part there is written about the most important factor of the future quality of immunity in children: the breast milk and breast-feeding. The third chapter deals with the most important topic of my thesis: prevention of viral diseases in children. Firstly I have described a term prevention in general. Using the principles and practices of palliative care in nursing practice

The bachelor thesis deals with the use of the principles and procedures of palliative care in nursing practice . The work is theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The theoretical part describes the definition, principles and goals of palliative care. The work also describes origin and development of the hospice and hospice movement in the Czech Republic and in the world. Furthermore, the work deals with previous and current view of the death and dying. The last chapter of teoretical part is devoted to terminally ill. This chapter describes the five stage of adoption incurable diseases by Elizabeth Kübler - Ross and a description of the most common problems and solutions of terminally ills . The empirical part aims to determine how are the principles and procedures followed in practice. To essure this objective was chosen the case study of one client in the hospice. This patient was observed to care for it and access hospice staff. The work gives the detailed description of the case. It was found that palliative care in the hospice is consistent with important principles and procedures of palliative care reported in the literature.

The Incidence of Complications in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus

1 Abstract This thesis deals with the occurrence of complications in patients with diabetes mellitus. The aim of this bachelor thesis is determine which acute and chronic complications prevail in relation to gender, type of diabetes and duration of diabetes. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part of the thesis I described themselves diabetes mellitus, types of diabetes mellitus, acute complications and chronic complications. Among the acute complications include hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia. Chronic complications are divided into specific and nonspecific. In the empirical part, I followed the incidence of complications. I realized quantitative research using questionnaires. The questionnaire was own of design. Participated in this research 78 respondents who were acquired in diabetes clinics. I divided respondents into subsequent categories: women with type I diabetes, women with type II diabetes, men with type I diabetes and men with type II diabetes. The thesis results that, overall acute and chronic complications suffered total 41 % of respondents. The most common complication of acute hyperglycemia reported 25.6 % of respondents. Nursing care for patients with Alzheimer's disease

The thesis deals on nursing care of patients with Alzheimer's disease. The work consists of two parts. The theoretical part is focused on Alzheimer's disease, diagnostic methods, symptoms, therapy, care for the patient and patient's family members and organizations that help patients and relatives, such as the Czech Alzheimer Society. Qualitative research method, case study by Marjory Gordon model is used in the empiric part.
