The influence of personal assistance on body perception in people after spinal cord injury

(in English): The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to explore how the consequences of spinal cord injury affect the body image of respondents and whether the utilization of personal assistance services influences this perception. One of the reasons for choosing this topic was an attempt to understand whether the disruption of bodily privacy through care provided by another person could lead to a negative body image. The theoretical part of the thesis acquaints the reader with concepts and information related to this issue. The empirical section was conducted using a qualitative research method. Despite information obtained from interviews with respondents confirming changes in body image after spinal cord injury, no correlation was found between these changes and the use of personal assistance.

The film Angry Man - a tool in communication with children about violence in close relationships from the perspective of lectors

The thesis examines how the prevention film Angry Man contributes to communication with children about violence in close relationships. The thesis consists of a theoretical part, which defines the basic concepts related to violence in close relationships, and an empirical part, which presents qualitative research conducted among primary prevention trainers who use the film Angry Man in their work. The main findings of the thesis show that the film Angry Man is an effective tool for promoting discussion about violence, enabling children to express and reflect on emotions and attitudes in the context of violence in close relationships, while the proactive and self-discovery approach of the lecturers and reflection on the environment in which the film is shown are crucial for the film to reach its full potential. Main recommendations for communicating with children about violence include the need for communicators to have a clearly defined attitude towards violence and experience in dealing with emotions, and the use of tools such as prevention films or books can be key to opening up dialogue. It is also important to tailor communication to the individual needs and ages of children, while providing emotional support and supervision for those leading the dialogue.

Accommodation of transgender people in housing facilities of social services

This bachelor's thesis studies how transgender people are accommodated in housing facilities of social services. The thesis aims to find out in which ways housing facilities of social services meet and in which ways do not meet the needs of transgender people in the process of accommodation. As the number of people who openly identify as transgender continues to increase, it is a realistic assumption that the number of openly transgender users of residential social services will be increasing as well. It is therefore necessary to consider the possibilities and ways in which the provision of residential services can be adapted to meet the client's needs without compromising their identity. At present, users of most housing facilities of social services are accommodated based on the gender indicated on their identity cards. However, this type of accommodation may not be in line with the client's perception of self and may therefore represent a barrier to meeting their needs. This is also problematic given that the use of these services may be a response to leaving an environment that was hostile to transgender people. Stigmatization of people with mental illness in the context of psychiatric diagnoses

This bachelor thesis deals with the subjective perception of stigmatization of people with mental illness. The aim of this thesis is to find out how stigma is reflected in the life of a person struggling with a mental illness based on a psychiatric diagnosis. What limitations the diagnosis poses to the person, but also what perceived benefits he or she derives from the diagnosis. In the theoretical part, mental illness is defined, then stigma and self-stigma are described. It also presents the specifics of social work with people with mental illness and the reform of psychiatric care in the Czech Republic, which is changing the approach to client care in a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual context. The practical part of the thesis deals with the perspective of people with mental illness on their experience of living with the diagnosis, subjective perception of stigmatization and self-stigmatization. The research traces the relationship between their lived experience and social functioning. Specifically, it focuses on people with illness from the diagnostic range of neurotic spectrum disorders. The research is based on the perspective of people who have used or are using psychiatric help, clients of social services or people with experience of hospitalization.

Peer consultants in the system of mental health support services: the journey to peer programs

The master thesis is focused on peer consultants in the field of mental health care and their path to this profession. During the course of research, the topic was expanded to include reasons for staying and leaving. The aim of the paper is to find out how people with mental disease become peer consultants and what factors contribute to their staying in the profession or, conversely, leaving the profession. The research was carried out using qualitative research conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews with peer consultants from psychiatric hospitals, various non-profit organizations and Mental Health Centers. Seven women and 3 men all currently in peer consultant positions were involved in the analysis. The collected dataset was analyzed using open coding. The research identifies positive and negative factors that influence the entry of people with mental illness into the profession. The factors that contribute to entering the profession mainly include concerns about one's own health as a result of the psychological demands of the job, the level of their own Recovery and still also ignorance about the existence of this profession. Ways of using the psychobiographical model in the care of the elderly in residential facilities

The thesis is dedicated to the use of Erwin Böhm's Psychobiographical model in the care provided to the elderly who are clients of residential institutions. The aim is to find out how the introduction of the Psychobiographical model is reflected in client care and how social workers use this model in the care of the elderly in the context of the general quality standard number 5 - individual care planning. Specifically, the thesis will map how are used the biography and the data obtained through the client biography model. The aim will be achieved through a qualitative study, which will consist of two main parts: 1) semi-structured interviews with social workers in residential facilities for the elderly; 2) analysis of individual care plans and client biographies. The analysis shows that the Psychobiographical Model of Care is reflected in all areas of care. Its use opens up new possibilities for the care provided, building on the client's abilities and possibilities based on his/her life story. However, this potential relies primarily on a proactive approach by staff to use the model. In practice, there are also links between the Psychobiographical Model and palliative care. The factors influencing the work of peer consultants with people with mental illness

This Diploma thesis focuses on finding the sources of activities and positive factors experienced by peer consultants in their professional and everyday life, as well as finding the limits and barriers they encounter that take away their energy and courage. In the first chapter of the thesis, an overview of the mental health of the world population according to the WHO is described, as well as the development of peer support and approaches to people with mental illness. Next, I describe the historical context of the situation of reforms of the mental health care system abroad and in the Czech Republic.
