Krausová, Hana ; Šánová, Lucie (advisor) ; Fínková, Eva (referee)
For liberal-democratic country of Western Europe such as France it is difficult to accept immigrants, who bring different traditions, culture and especially religion, which carries with its specific demands. Above that strong nationalism, patriotism and pride of its own cultural traditions are typical for France. Therefore the communication and tolerance for significantly different and inadaptable citizens may be difficult. The proposed thesis will focus on Muslims living in France. From a historical perspective it will devote to the period from the end of the World War II up to now, when the numbers of immigrants of Muslim origin have begun to rise rapidly. France is trying to deal with it on its own, but today, in general, the criteria for granting citizenship and universally the claims for adaptation increase both in the legislation, and also significantly in the approach of French citizens to immigrants. For a more accurate understanding of the topic it is necessary to clarify the differences between various groups of Muslims in terms of their time of arrival in France, the country of origin and the type of professed Islam. In my thesis I will describe the diversity among Muslims, who live in France, furthemore I will examine impacts of the immigration and the integration policy exactly on...
Sunnigdale Agreement: Consociationalism as a solution of conflict in Northern Ireland and its failure
Musilová, Karolína ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Fínková, Eva (referee)
The Bachelor's thesis "Sunningdale Agreement: Consociationalism as a solution of conflict in Northern Ireland and its failure" examines the possibilities of using consociational model to solve the conflict in Northern Ireland in the 1970s. British government tried to solve long- lasting conflict among catholics and protestants by imposing the power-sharing government. The thesis examines how the conditions of consociational model defined by Arend Lijphart were fulfilled in Northern Ireland and if there was a opportunity to solve the conflict with the model. Moreover, the thesis analyses to what extent the failure was caused by consociational model itself. The result is that conditions for consociational model are not favorable in Northern Ireland, but this does not necessarily mean failure. More important was the lack of the key element of consociationalism, which is the belief that the system should be preserved shared among the elites.
