Selected aspects of school economics
Dvořák, Tomáš ; Koťa, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kropáč, Jiří (referee)
Money makes the world go round. It is no different in the educational system. But how to fulfill the mission to educate and shape the youth, and at the same time ensure the economic self-sufficiency of the educational institution? This is the question I seek answers to in my work. The diploma thesis is focused on the issues of economics and financing of education in the Czech Republic (CR). Particular emphasis is placed here on presenting a detailed description of the education system in the Czech Republic and the financing of individual types of schools. An important part of the work is the elaborated financial analysis of the OECD report, some selected indicators, on the basis of which the current situation will be subsequently evaluated and suitable measures that could lead to its improvement will be recommended. In the beginning of the thesis, space will be given for a detailed description of the current system of Czech education. Based on the current legislation, individual types of pre-school facilities, schools and school facilities will be described, while the emphasis is on a detailed description of features characteristic of their given type. An important part is also the characteristics of the individual public administration bodies that intervene in the field of education through their...
Specifics of challenger party voters in the Czech environment
Poplštein, Martin ; Dvořák, Tomáš (advisor) ; Stauber, Jakub (referee)
The rise of new challenger parties is already quite noticeable, especially in the Czech environment. However, this paper qualitatively focuses on research into the deeper thinking of the electorates of these parties. It looks at the actual reasons leading voters to choose these parties, but also examines how well such parties match the demand and ideological position of individual voters. Because the state of knowledge to date reveals certain specificities of these voters, the literature on these parties has taken a primarily quantitative approach to examining challenger party voters. However, the largely combined design of this paper explores deeper contexts in a single state setting. Overall, the thesis finds that respondents make their decision to vote for a challenger party based on several themes and visions of change, particularly the renewal of the composition of the House and the government, stemming from the face and overall PR of the parties. At the same time, respondents found it attractive to vote for candidates "untainted" by politics, as they hold views on corrupt and clientelistic politics. However, the challenger voters tend to be younger people with different views to those of the dominant parties, who are predominantly made up of the older 60+ population. Therefore, it can be...
Paths of young people to political participation
Martinková, Martina ; Císař, Ondřej (advisor) ; Dvořák, Tomáš (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to discover what paths lead young people to political participation, what political activities the respondents took part in, how they perceive the influence of influencers on political participation and how they experience the current political climate in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, I focus on the definition of political participation and its types, factors influencing political participation, findings regarding the political participation of young people and existing knowledge regarding the influence of influencers on political participation. In the practical part, I conduct my own research. The research uses a qualitative approach, because the goal of this work is to enrich the existing knowledge with a deeper understanding of the phenomenon under investigation. The method of data collection is in-depth semi-structured interviews and the diary method. A total of fourteen respondents participated in the research, who were obtained through the convenience sampling method and the snow-ball method. The only selection criterion was the age of the respondents, which ranged from 20-27 years due to the necessary experience with political participation. The method of data analysis was thematic analysis and open coding. Within the data analysis, a typology...
Pandemic: about war, oppression and other metaphors
Tikal, Matěj ; Dvořák, Tomáš (advisor) ; Hájek, Martin (referee)
This thesis is based on analysis of metaphors, that were used by Czech political elite to construct meaning of Covid-19 pandemic and its implications for Czech society. Pandemic is firstly described as political problem and selected literature is used to describe pandemic discourse. Next, notion of social constructivism and conceptual theory of metaphors are introduced. Political rhetoric is conceived as conflictual and in common relation with public debate. Based on critical metaphorical analysis, this thesis revealed conflict between value of safety and freedom that was reflected in metaphors of war and oppression. This contest of metaphors can be used to interpret and explain some of the phenomena Czech society witnessed during Covid- 19 pandemic. This thesis shows that metaphors are valuable instrument for analysis of problems, that defy the possibility of being observed by instruments of everyday knowledge. This is why metaphor analysis can be deemed as useful tool for research of upcoming crises, which might emit similar level of abstraction, as Covid-19 pandemic.

Nosková, Pavlína ; Dvořák, Tomáš (advisor) ; Doležalová, Barbora (referee)
NOSKOVÁ, Pavlína. Personalizace politiky v českých prezidentských volbách? Analýza vlivu osobnosti kandidáta na české voliče. Praha, 2024. 48 s. Bakalářská práce (Bc). Univerzita Karlova, Fakulta sociálních věd, Institut sociologických studií, Katedra sociologie. Vedoucí bakalářské práce Mgr. Tomáš Dvořák, Ph.D. Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with what factors influence Czech voters in presidential elections. In particular, it focuses on the influence of the candidate's personality. The thesis is divided into three main parts - theoretical part, methodology and analytical part. In the theoretical part, the path of the Czech Republic to direct presidential elections is first mentioned. Next, the concept of personalisation of politics is introduced, which serves as a theoretical basis for determining the influence of the personality of the presidential candidate on the Czech electorate in the elections. And lastly, the transformation of political communication is mentioned, mainly because of the connection to the aforementioned personalisation of politics in terms of electoral campaigns, which are then dealt with in the analytical part. In the methodological part of the thesis, in particular, the objectives of the thesis and the research questions are presented with hypotheses that will help to answer...

Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Beams Subjected to Impact Loading
Dvořák, Tomáš
The utilisation of complex nonlinear material models for concrete in numerical simulations is necessary for the accurate representation of structural behaviour. However, the successful modelling of such complex behaviour depends on a good understanding of the material model parameters. This paper deals with the critical issue of material parameter sensitivity in the context of RC beams subjected to impact loading. The objective was to establish relationships between the material parameters and the responses, including deformations and stresses, using sensitivity. This is the main key to understanding the complex interaction of these parameters and their influence on the structure.
