Library Automation Domain Ontology

The dissertation focuses on library automation. It examines relationships between the field of library automation and library management systems and the needs of libraries in relation to the process of library software selection. The main goal of the dissertation has been to create a library automation domain ontology and to develop tools to support a decision-making process of library software selection. The domain ontology has been created; it describes the field of library automation in relation to library systems, which are set in the broader context of the field of library automation and are regarded in terms of needs of libraries in connection to library software change. To obtain terms for ontology entity names both quantitative and mixed research methods were used, namely the analysis of scholarly texts on library automation and library systems; text analyses were performed using Voyant Tools software. Object properties and relationships among entities in ontology are based on the results of a qualitative survey of the needs of libraries in relation to the library management software. Technology for Purposes of Social Work: Applications for Chosen Groups of People with Disabilities

The thesis deals with the technology which can be used for the purposes of social work. The beginning of the text is devoted to the concept of social work in the Czech Republic as well as internationally in order to highlight the broader understanding of social work. The remaining text focuses on the possibility and a reason for interdisciplinary cooperation of social work and technology - specific applications and devices that can improve the quality of life of people aiming at public space, focusing on people with disabilities. Access to Information for Persons with Special Needs with respect to the Services of Public Libraries

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou přístupu k informacím pro uživatele se speciálními potřebami ve veřejných knihovnách. V úvodní části je nastíněna problematika přístupu k informacím, její společenský i legislativní rámec a dále role veřejných knihoven. Na základě podrobného zmapování skupin znevýhodněných uživatelů, kteří mají speciální potřeby z hlediska přístupu k informacím, jsou nastíněny možnosti, jak tyto speciální informační potřeby řešit. Definice znevýhodnění je zde chápána v širším pojetí s přihlédnutím k přístupu k informacím, tudíž zahrnuje kromě osob s tělesným, smyslovým a zdravotním postižením, se specifickými poruchami učení, s poruchami komunikace, s duševními a behaviorálními poruchami, také osoby postižené různými formami sociálního vyloučení, chudobou, příslušníky národnostních a jazykových menšin a osoby pečující o další osoby apod. Zvýšená pozornost je věnována problematice přístupného webu a dálkovému přístupu ke službám knihoven. Práci doplňuje případová srovnávací studie Městské knihovny v Praze a Knihoven v Londýně - Ealingu z hlediska služeb uživatelům se speciálními potřebami. Na základě získaných teoretických i praktických poznatků jsou odvozena doporučení pro veřejné knihovny v oblasti péče o znevýhodněné uživatele.
