The theoretical part deals with the quality of Nursing care, diabetes mellitus - characteristics, etiopathogenesis, forms of diabetes, diagnosis, treatment, acute and late complications. This part also deals with diabetic foot syndrome - characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and discusses new trends in wound healing, prevention and psychological aspects in patients. The empirical part is based on the results of research of an anonymous quantitative non-standardized questionnaire. A total of 41 respondents with diabetic foot syndrome participated in the research study. The questionnaire detects the basic information about patients and their perceptions of the diabetology department's care quality.
Needs of the patients on intensive care units

The goal of this work was to describe the subjective needs of critically ill patients, including descriptions of patients' experiences when these needs are not met. Questionnaire method of research was used. Evaluation was separated on surgical and non-surgical patients. Whole number was 54 patients. Results: 55.6% pacients felt pain, 42.6% felt difficulties of breathing, 31.5% pts. felt discomfort with stool, 20.4% felt difficulties with washing on bed, 31.5% pts. had bad selection of foods 31.5%, 40.7% felt alarm from failure treatment, fear about life felt 33.3% pts., fear of future 44.4% pts and missing contact with families felt 29.6% pts. Conclusion: Regarding life-threatening ilnesses in ICU patients was number of their negative feelings relatively low. Nevertheless is necessary to nurses improve care about needs of patients in serious or life-threatening conditions.

Quality of life of patients after amputation of lower limb

The bachelor thesis deals with the life quality of patients, who have undergone amputation of the lower limb. Theoretical part of the thesis explains the concept and describes the issue of amputation, presents the options of psychological and social support and orthopedic prosthetics. Further, it characterizes the nursing care of patients after amputation, clarifies the concept of life quality and summarizes current research on this topic. In the empirical part, using a qualitative investigation, the thesis look into the life quality of five specifically selected respondents after amputation of lower limb. All five respondents undergone amputation due to complications in connection with diabetes mellitus. Amputation in the lower leg was made in two cases, amputation in the thigh was made in two cases and amputation of first leg in the lower leg and second leg in the thigh in one case. Health status of patients before amputation is being mapped, psychosomatic impacts on the patients are evaluated, subjective experience and social context of altered life quality is analyzed. The results are compared with the domestic and foreign studies in this field.
