Programmes of monitoring of bird occurrence and abundance as a source of ecological data
SUMMARY OF THE THESIS In the thesis, regional data on bird communities were studied in terms of species richness and occurrence of bird species in dependence on habitat and, in case of wintering birds, also on climatic conditions. The regional grid atlas of Prague (Fuchs et al. 2002), records from Wintering waterbird census in Central Bohemia, own data on the breeding population of the Mute Swan in the Třeboň region and data from individual marking of Mute Swans provided by the Bird Ringing Centre of the National Museum were used as the sources of data on the occurrence and abundance of bird species. The thesis also includes a part of the text of the prepared Atlas of breeding distribution of birds in the Třeboň region. Effect of climatic and environmental variables on changes in numbers and migratory behaviour of wintering and migrating waterbirds.
Adam, Matyáš ; Musil, Petr (advisor) ; Bejček, Vladimír (referee)
Waterbirds with their specific habitat and food requirements varying during their annual cycle (Riffell et al. 2003; Taft and Haig 2006) are able to indicate the wetland diversity and quality due to their rapid responses on changes in environment (Delany 1999; Fernández et al. 2005; Amat and Green 2010). Remarkable land cover changes and climate warming led to significant shifts in distribution and abundance of many waterbird species across Europe in recent decades (Delany et al. 2006; Fox et al. 2010; Lehikoinen et al. 2013; Pavón-Jordán et al. 2015). To understand the dynamic of migratory birds in space and time and to assess effects of global conditions as well as local conditions of individual sites during their annual cycle there is need of international monitoring and research. Since the start of International Waterbird Census in 1967 both increasing and decreasing trends have been recorded in nearly fifty percent of waterbird species in Western Palearctic (Delany et al. 2006, Wetlands International 2016) and they consequently have affected trends in particular countries, including the Czech Republic. Wetland sites in the Czech Republic are generally situated on the edge of wintering range of most waterbird species (Gilissen et al. 2002), however the prevailing increase in abundance of waterbird species has been recorded here in recent decades (Musil et al. 2011). Though, the considerable growth of winter temperatures has not been noticed in the Czech Republic (Klein Tank et al. 2002; Musilová et al. 2009; Dušek et al. 2013), and the accessibility of the wetland sites, due to their freezing, varies year to year. Hence, we can assume that waterbirds have likely began using the alternative habitats with available food resources, i.e. cold-weather refuges, probably regardless of their conservation status (Musilová et al. 2015). Special protection areas were implemented to Czech legislation in 2004 to protect migratory birds (Birds Directive 2009/147/EC). So far there has not been tested the effectivity and impact of legislative protection on wintering waterbird species. Moreover, some previous studies indicated that SPA network do not match the species distribution pattern (López-López et al. 2007; Briggs et al. 2012; Albuquerque et al. 2013), so this issue urgently calls for scientific research. The second part of the thesis focused on Greylag Geese, whose abundance has rapidly grown across the Europe in recent decades (Madsen et al. 1999; Fox et al. 2010), and that have become ideal model species to observe their responses to habitats and climate changes as well as their reactions to human disturbance (Fox and Madsen 1997; Ramo et al. 2015). This requires appropriate knowledge of geese distribution, abundance and their behaviour. Since 1930s, when the geese started to be ringed in the Czech Republic, the ringing intensity have markedly varied and have been reflected in numbers of recoveries. In last ten years the intensity have increased (Podhrazský 2010). However, complex of the historical data until 2002 (Cepák et al. 2008) and recent data have not been analysed so far. In the light of recent shifts in wintering ranges and migration phenology of many goose populations these analyses require increased attention. Furthermore, the satellite monitoring of geese is coming to detect more detailed information about behaviour of individuals.
Characteristics of reproduction habitats and amphibian biodiversity on spoil banks in Most region
Budská, Daniela ; Bejček, Vladimír (advisor)
Despite the ecological value of unreclaimed post-mining areas, in the Czech Republic, however, rigorous technical reclamation still prevails. Such an approach usually leads to a more uniform environment and destroys the habitat diversity of successional sites, including the variety of water bodies that are crucial habitats for many aquatic and semiaquatic species. The aim of our study was to assess the water environment and diversity of amphibians on reclaimed and unreclaimed post-mining sites and compare the offers of aquatic habitats in affected and unaffected by mininglandscape in Bohemia.
Effect of anthelmintic baits on prevalence of Echinococcus multilocularis at red fox in CR
Brožová, Adéla ; Jankovská, Ivana (advisor) ; Bejček, Vladimír (referee)
In 2012 the tapeworm Echinococcus multilocularis in naturally infected red fox were investigated in selected regions of Karlovy Vary. From January to December 2013, in areas with the highest prevalence, delivery baits containing the anthelmintic (80 g of fish flesh + 50 mg Praziquantel- Drontal plus flavour) in an amount of 50 baits per km2. In 2014 the inspection was carried out investigations and subsequent comparison prevalence of tapeworm in the monitored areas between 2012 and 2014, ie. before and after the delivery of anthelmintic baits. The observed prevalence of Echinococcus multilocularis in foxes before delivery baits was 80% (12/15), after delivery baits was 10.5% (2/19). Furthermore, an analysis of infected intestinal tissue foxes and foxes uninfected with Echinococcus multilocularis for determining the concentrations of selected elements (Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn). Foxes with this tapeworm exhibited in the intestinal mucosa higher levels of the following elements: chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn). Conversely concentration primarily toxic elements (Cd and Pb) in the intestine infected foxes with Echinococcus multilocularis was lower than in the intestine foxes without this parasite.
Endoparasites of horses
Scháňková, Štěpánka ; Langrová, Iva (advisor) ; Bejček, Vladimír (referee)
Nine ponies were randomly allocated to one of three groups (A, B, C). Gradually, these groups of ponies were experimentally infected with third stage cyathostome larvae. Each pony was infected with 30,000 infective cyathostome larvae stored 4 weeks under the natural environmental conditions of the Czech Republic. These animals were examined post--mortem for small strongyle infections from October 2011 to January 2012. Seventeen species of the following Cyathostominae genera were identified: Coronocyclus, Cyathostomum,Cylicocyclus, Cylicostephanus, Gyalocephalus and Petrovinema. Of the 17 species of Cyathostominae recovered, Cyathostomum catinatum, Cyathostomum alveatum and Cylicocyclus nassatus were the most prevalent (100 %). From the entire population of Cyathostominae, 65,6 % were located in the caecum and only 34,4 % in the colon. Only 1,736 (24,6 %) females and 5,329 (75,4 %) males were observed. In the first and second phase (group A, B) of the experiment, 98.57 % and 95.48 % of adult nematodes were found, respectively. However, only 29,07% of adults were found in the third phase (group C) of experiment, and the proportion of arrested larvae (EL3) was 67.73%. All ponies were treated orally with ivermectin at a dosage of 400 ug /kg. However, adult Oxyuris equi were present in six horses. This is the first European study to demonstrate anthelmintic resistence in Oxyuris equi to macrocyclic lactones.
Impact of tourism on the occurence of Black grouse in location Krušné hory
Korunková, Andrea ; Šímová, Petra (advisor) ; Bejček, Vladimír (referee)
Location Krušné hory is important area with habitat of Black grouse. This mountain is very favorite for tourist last time. Number of Black grouse is getting lower both in the Czech repulic and Europe. The view to occurance of Black grouse depending on the visiting of tourist trails offers some questions without answers. If the getting lower number of Black grouse is caused by tourism rush and if this is significant. Number of Black grouse is identify every year at lekking time. In this study frequency of trails is identified in location of regions Chomutov, Most. Based this frequency is done with ArcMap 10.2 visualization of Black grouse in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2014. Data have been compared together. It is possible to say, that tourism has influence to number od Black grouse, but i tis not possible to say this influence is signifiant or determining.
Effect of supplementary feeding on the spatial activity of red deer
Kilhofová, Blanka ; Bejček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Otakar, Otakar (referee)
Military Training Area Hradiste occupies the entire central part of Doupov Mts. Restrictions on public access and unified huntsmen management of the large area gave rise to a unique habitat of red deer. There is a series of studies conducted on game populations, including research of spacial activity of red deer using GPS telemetry. Telemetry data were used to evaluate the effect of the feeding device on the spatial activity of red deer. This impact was affected in the observational period by the mild winter, yet the effect on the spatial activity is apparent. Males are much more active during feeding period than females and their relation to feeding equipment is also higher than in females.
Design and Implementation of Part of Information System in the Company XY
Kuneš, Martin ; Bejček, Vladimír (referee) ; Klčová, Hana (advisor)
The thesis focuses on the implementation of the chosen part of the ERP system, which is based on functional requirements of the company. Due to the extensiveness of the system, this work deals with only one functional area, and more specifically with the management of assets. The main part of the work is aimed at creation of a module for registration of property and its inventories using the barcode system, which is not a standard part of the system. This new module is proposed for the implementation in Microsoft Dynamics AX in 2012.
