Šnellerová, Tereza ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Špirit, Michael (referee)
The thesis is focused on the earliest period of Jiří Kolář's poetry and his two works Rudý havran / Nový don Quijote, which were found in the nineties and recently published in 2009. These works represent for us a new possibility of interpretation of Jiří Kolář's writing - Jiří Kolář in association with avant-garde. This interpretation line is further discussed. The aim of the work is to prove, that Kolář's poetry in fortieth years is not only period of preparation for his genius writing - diaries, but it includes some pieces, which are special and original, too. Thus the main topic is an interpretation of several works of this period: Ódy a variace, Dny v roce and Roky v dnech.

Hušáková, Barbora ; Holý, Jiří (advisor) ; Špirit, Michael (referee)
The thesis deals with two differrent versions of Vítězslav Nezval's poems from the 1920s, focusing on self-censorship. First I observe the development of poetism, principles of the composition of the poems and Nezval's works from the 1920s. In the following part, I describe the condition of cultural background during the 1950s and speeches pronounced at the SČSS conference. On the basis of comparison of the two versions of Nezval's poems from the 1920s, I proceed to the following classification of motifs which were removed by the Nezval's self- censorship − biblical and mythological motifs, references to European avant-garde, carnality, alcohol and drugs, exotic places and oppressive social conditions. Key words: poetism, Socialist Realism, version, poems, self-censorship, motifs

Project Authentic
Nejvetšího významu dosáhl Projekt Authentic v první polovine 90. let, kdy první soukromé televize nastolily jiná témata a dokumentární televizní tvorba Ceskoslovenské (pozdeji Ceské) televize zaznamenávající pametníky se teprve rozvíjela.
The engineer of human souls as pars pro toto of Josef Škovrecký's literary work
Hladík, Filip ; Špirit, Michael (advisor) ; Holý, Jiří (referee)
The present thesis deals with the work of Josef Škvorecký as a whole. In doing this, we aim to define specific plot sequences, narrative techniques, recurrent motifs etc. Simultaneously, the relations between single texts become clearer. The author offers a possible fictional world in each of his literary pieces. However, their perspectives often coalesce while the author deliberately alludes to events and occurrences known from his previous books, giving the reader a chance to link the items of the fictional worlds together. Using identical or very similar singularities, the author creates an "intertextual literary world", a self-contained macrocosm of sorts that should be as homogenous as possible. His plots have constant settings; his books include the same characters, his topic sequences are similar etc.¨ Obviously, Škvorecký attempts to create a homogenous macrocosm consisting of his texts. Bearing that in mind, we nevertheless regard every Škvoreckýs work as a self-contained fictional world. This approach is shown in the thesis e.g. on the motif of Kostelec as the hometown of different characters named Danny Smiřický. Each Danny is a specific singularity; we can follow their different perspectives in the fictional worlds of single texts. Certain lines of the characters development are closer, such as...
