Dutch-Czech Parallel Corpus in linguistic studies and translation practice

Resumé This thesis concerns the use of parallel Dutch-Czech corpus in linguistic research and translation practice. The advantages of the corpus-based approach are demonstrated on a research of formal translation equivalents of the Dutch present participle in Czech language. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical sections. The theoretical introduction begins with the theoretical and methodological framework of the research. Next, language corpora, especially parallel corpora, and the Czech project InterCorp are presented. There is also an introduction of the grammatical category of the present participle and its possible formal translation equivalents into Czech language. In the subsequent practical section, there is a hypothesis formulated and a procedure of research based on corpus data established. The hypothesis and research should verify or refute the hypothesis. Furthermore, all translation solutions are divided into categories according to the Dutch system of sentence constituents: the substantive, adjectival, proverbial, prepositional and verb constituents, whole (subordinate) clauses and translation omissions. Topic: Presence and efficiency of three-points shooting attempts reliant on perimeter prolongation (in Czech Women basketball League) Aim: The aim of my bachelor's thesis to find out frequency and success rate of 3-points shots in two following seasons in Woman Basketball league (ŽBL) during basic parts of these two seasons. In the first season was perimeter prolongation introduced. On the basis of statistical survey follows comparison of these results. Primary aim is creating statistical analysis, which should show the influence of perimeter prolongation to 3-points shooting among teams in Woman Basketball league (ŽBL). Methods: Taking into consideration quantitative survey, my dissertation work was based on methods of secondary information collecting, that implies (which means) secondary statistical analysis and observation with taking records down. The Human Organ Transplantation Act - moral and ethical problems of its application This thesis deals with issues related to the applications of the Human Organ Transplantation Act. It is focused on the assessment of existing legislation regarding transplantation, the identification of problematical areas of transplantation law and the possibility of their correction. The thesis is divided into several parts. At the beginning it deals with the history and development of transplant medicine. It also contains a description of the current legislation and a brief summary of an international regulation. The main focus of the thesis is to analyze the deficiencies in Czech legislation and to emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of the transplant law. Finally, it analyzes the forthcoming amendment to The Human Organ Transplantation Act prepared by the Ministry of Health. Toxicity of nanomaterials to aquatic crustaceans

Nowadays, nanomaterials are broadly used for many purposes thanks to their unique properties. The production of nanoscale materials is growing rapidly. Consequently, it means a high probability of their release into the environment and there are concerns about their possible negative effects on organisms. Furthermore, the behaviour of nanomaterials might be strongly influenced by many factors and there are many different types of them, so there is still a big information gap in this field. The aim of this work is to summarize basic facts about nanomaterials and their possible toxicity, especially to the fresh-water crustacean Daphnia magna. An impact of nanoscale zero-valent iron particles is tested on this species. This material is used for remediation so it is injected directly into the environment. Concentrations of 0,1 g·l-1 , 0,5 g·l-1 , 1 g·l-1 and 2,5 g·l-1 of two products with different surface modifications were tested. It was found that the toxicity depends on the type of stabilization. EC50 was not established for NANOFER 25S (with a special surface modification) due to the maximum immobilization rate of only 30 % for the concentrations tested. Use of mental maps of users in assessment of cartographic works Abstract The aim of this thesis is to propose and practical apply the alternative methodics of assessment of cartographic works. The thesis is processed in the terms of project of Grant Agency of the Charles University Mental Maps: subject and means for assessment. The adjoining aim of this study is then to test which of the assessed tourist maps is the most user friendly. As the method for data acquiring the questionnaire investigation methodology has been chosen. The basic for the assessment of cartographic works are in the case of this study of mental maps of lynch type. Theoretical part is devoted to Mental and Cognitive Maps as well as to the ways of cartographic works assessment. Space is also devoted to the methodology of assessment cartographic works itself. "Eastern theodicea" as an alternative treatment for the Western problem of evil

This essay responds to the dissatisfaction of some philosophers with traditional Western solutions to the problem of evil in religion and it offers an alternative solution, which is inspired by the Eastern philosophy of advaita to a great extent. According to the critics, traditional theodicies do not solve the following aspects of the problem of evil: problems with the extent and distribution of evil, suffering of animals and eternal damnation. Three elements of the Eastern philosophy combined with some traditional strategies do solve these problems. The first element is the idea of universal salvation, the second is the theory of karma nand reincarnation and the last one is advaita and lila. These elements can be accepted in various forms and combinations, some of which are more compatible with the traditional methods than others. The final solution is hypothetical and should be understood as a sketech of several ways in which the problem of evil can be solved. This essay is not merely an application of Eeastern concepts to a Western problem, but rather a mutual interaction. That is why I do not hesitate to work with Western new age literature and use Eastern concepts creatively myself. Nursing care of the patient with acute appendicitis

Cílem mé bakalářské práce je zpracování případové studie ošetřovatelské péče o nemocného J.P., 41 let, který byl hospitalizován na anesteziologickoresuscitačním oddělení (ARO) v nemocnici v Praze s diagnózou akutní appendicitis gangrenosa perforata, status ileosus, difusní peritonitis, septický stav. Na základě těchto diagnóz byl pacient po provedené revizi břicha s appendectomií, laváží a drenáží dutiny břišní přijat na ARO, kde jsem k této případové studii získávala informace. V klinické části práce se zabývám anatomií a fyziologií zažívacího traktu a céka. V další části popisuji klinický obraz, polohy apendixu, diagnostiku onemocnění, komplikace, terapii a prognózu onemocnění. Na tuto kapitolu navazují základní údaje o nemocném při příjmu, lékařská anamnéza, průběh celé hospitalizace, provedené diagnostické výkony, vyšetření a léčba po operaci. V ošetřovatelské části se nemocnému věnuji z hlediska ošetřovatelského procesu. Pro vytvoření ošetřovatelské anamnézy jsem použila koncepční model "Fungujícího zdraví" Marjory Gordonové. Vzhledem k omezenému rozsahu této práce jsem ošetřovatelské diagnózy stanovila a podrobně vypracovala pouze na první pooperační den, 2. den hospitalizace v nemocnici. Podrobný plán ošetřovatelské péče byl stanoven s ohledem na současný zdravotní stav, potřeby a problémy nemocného....

The impact of the municipal tax for spa or recreational stay and the municapal tax for accommodation for tourism development and the revenue of selected municipalities in the Czech Republic

This thesis focus on the analysis of the status of the municipal tax for spa or recreational stay and the municapal tax for accommodation in the revenue of selected municipalities in the Czech Republic, including their use in promoting tourism. The first part focuses on theoretical knowledge in the field of public revenues and is dedicated to the concept of local tax and its legal regulations. The analytical part contains a comparison of the position of these local taxes in terms of quantitative indicators, such as income from these local taxes or their share of tax revenue and results of a survey between mayors of selected municipalities divided for the purpose of this work into three categories - spa towns and municipalities , mountain resorts and popular tourist destinations. The results of the survey in the Czech Republic are compared with these local taxes in selected European cities. In conlusion, the results of the survey are discussed and furthermore, current legislation solutions are suggested which would streamline the use of municipal taxes for spa or recreational stay and accommodation.

Ethics in business and corporate social responsibility

This diploma work considering Business ethics and social responsibility of companies discusses a contemporary topic. The work is separated into several parts. The applied part of the work is based on literary research of selected literature, and deals with business ethics and responsibility of companies that deal with bus traffic and truck transport in actual business practice. The applied part was done by comparing four selected criteria that are linked to corporate responsibility of companies. All of the presented subjects have been dealing with helping people and groups of people for at least ten years, especially to those who need help due to health disorders at being included in normal, everyday life like healthy people, participate in all kinds of sports, culture and social activities. The presented companies and other subjects have been showing for many years how important their help is. The final part of the work contains twenty-five recommendations aimed at expansion of social responsibility of companies.

This thesis deals with unemployment, in particular the consequences that come with it, in particular long-term unemployment brings. The rate of nezaměstannosti is a very important macroeconomic indicator. Here is a comprehensive overview of the development of unem-ployment, drawn up in the Czech Republic, but for comparison here is mentioned the de-velopment of unemployment in the countries of the European Union and the eurozone and is mentioned here and the unemployment rate in the United States and Japan.
