Sex On a Plate: ,Food Porn' on Czech foodblogs

Diploma thesis "Sex on a plate: Food porn on Czech food blogs" explores the link between food and sex. It argues that this connection is deeply rooted in our culture and nowadays it is reflected in food porn circulating on social media. The aim of this thesis is not only pointig out the connection between food and sex but also demonstrate that "porn" in food porn is well justified and not at all coincidental. The phenomenon of food porn is also set in the context of a contemporary trend of online sharing. The theoretical part explores the relationship between people and food with emphasis on the differences between eating habits of men and women. Furthermore, the thesis draws attention to the similarities between food porn and sexual pornography. In the theoretical part of this thesis, I also comment on the trend of online sharing and digital narcisism. The second half of the thesis presents the chosen methodology, its design and my analysis using grounded theory, a method of qualitative research.

The role of volunteers in non-profit organizations providing social service for seniors from the point of view of social actors

This thesis deals with the role of volunteering in social services for the elderly in non-profit organizations. The aim of the work is to find out what benefits volunteers can provide for clients. I have focused on non-profit organizations for which volunteering is typical. I acquired data through in-depth interviews with clients and volunteers selected non-profit organization providing residential care for the elderly. Through this research I have offered a look at the benefits of volunteering through the requirements of current social services. Community foundations and their specifics

Today, community foundations undoubtedly play a significant role in building community philanthropy and strengthening civil society through civic engagement. They are unique by their specific connection to the community, ie. to a particular geographically defined area, where this foundation financially supports activities, events, individuals or groups in the form of grants. These grants provide from a collection of donated funds from many donors and the impact on the community is that it addresses its diverse problems and needs. Thanks to this collection and the endowment can address these needs in the long run. In the submitted diploma thesis, is based on analysis of professional literature, the specifics of community foundations are derived and based on the analysis of the documents of the foundations, it is shown how many Czech community foundations correspond to this ideal. Individualized reflexive volunteering within the framework of the European Voluntary Service program

The thesis covers the topic of individualized reflexive volunteering in the framework of the European Voluntary Service program, from the perspective of volunteers. The theoretical part presents an overview of the theoretical approaches to volunteering in the context of historical development in Czech Republic. The empirical part analyzes the answers of ten respondents by using six dimensions of reflexive volunteering. The aim of the work was to provide a complex view on this phenomenon through the statements of its actors. The conclusion of the work is a summary of results of the research. It has shown how youth perceives volunteering, why they prefer this particular type of engagement, and how it relates to their own biography and plans for the future. Research provides a comprehensive view on reflexive volunteering, while at the same time, it gives a picture of the current world of young people.

Inclusive Volunteering - The volunteer activity of people with a disability

Volunteering is a phenomenon that appeals to researchers, representatives of international institutions and governments in some countries, as a tool of social policy. Current research shows positive benefits of volunteering for the society but also for volunteers themselves. In this context, a new phenomenon, called inclusive volunteering, is emerging, which emphasizes that volunteering is open to all people in the society. At present, however, this phenomenon is not fully elucidated and researches that examine volunteering from the point of view of volunteers themselves, when considering inklusive volunteering, are very rare. The presented work aims to fill in the missing knowledge and thus contribute to the recognition of the phenomenon of volunteering through research of the previously very little known group of volunteers with a disability. The research sample consists of 27 volunteers with a disability who were interviewed. The interviews were analysed by the Strauss and Corbin's theory. The research has revealed that volunteers with a disability are experiencing a lack of social participation due to the absence of a socially valuable social role. Expert volunteering from the viewpoint the non-profit sector

The diploma thesis deals with the intersectoral cooperation between the non- governmental organizations (NGO) and the expert volunteers from the market sector. In the theoretical part, the work is devoted to individual sectors of the economy with an emphasis on the market sector and the civil sector, the causes of intersectoral cooperation, the intersectoral cooperation models and the phenomena that the intersectoral cooperation can potentially bring about. The aim is to find out how this cooperation is perceived by NGO staff through the theoretical framework of professionalisation and commercialization of civil society organizations. Using a qualitatively oriented research, the thesis examines the intersectoral cooperation of a participants in the Vodafone Foundation Year Differently project.

The Theatre of the Oppressed as a way to the Empowerment

The aim of this thesis is to find out how the participants of the Theatre of the Oppressed become empowered and how they use these experiences from the Theatre in other spheres of life. The research is based on a qualitative method and semi-structured interviews with open coding. The sample consists of Roma and non-Roma respondents. The results show that the necessary prerequisites for empowerment include meetings and dialogues with others, games and interventions, sharing of experiences and active work against oppression. In other dimensions of life, we can see personal empowerment manifest itself by higher self-confidence, advanced communication skills and responsible citizenship. In the professional sphere empowerment is presented in a work with a group, in a current job or in an involvement in new projects. For a civil society to thrive it is important that people from the majority society meet and work together with members of the minority groups. It is also essential to promote civil competences and social capital, meet with strongly engaged activists, open discussions in the public sphere and support the principle of taking responsibility for one's life and the life of the community. Gene expression and infectivity of \kur{Borrelia afzelii} in the course of tick feeding

Borrelia afzelii differential gene expression in the course of tick blood-feeding, and during chronic infection in mice was studied. Temperature effect on B. afzelii gene expression and infectivity was investigated. Infection rates of mice immunized with B. afzelii tick gut antigen at various stages of tick blood-intake were analyzed. Formal volunteering of Russian-speaking foreigners in the Czech Republic and their experience of involvement with the local community

This diploma thesis deals with the connection between formal volunteering and integration from the perspective of Russian speaking immigrants, in the context of civil society organizations in Czech Republic. I have monitored the motives and benefits of volunteering perceived by Russian-speaking immigrants in relation to their own integration through in-depth semi-structured interviews. There were three main aspects relating to volunteering which I've pursued: the perspective of immigrants' employability, the emergence and development of social relations and civic engagement. The results of the study show a more complex impact of volunteering on the social integration of foreigners. It presents a deeper understanding of Czech culture and a better orientation in the Czech institutional system, in addition to better job opportunities and benefits for social networks. Among other things, foreigners could understand their own volunteering in the sense of civic engagement when volunteers want to help their less integrated fellow citizens or strengthen their own language communities. Comparison of Organizational Culture in Public, Comercial and Nonprofit Service Providers

This Diploma Thesis focuses on comparison of organisational culture in state-controlled, commercial and non-profit organisations in the area of pre-school education. It is based on the Competing Values Framework developed by Cameron and Quinn, according to whom there are four types of organisational culture. The goal of this Thesis is to identify and describe the culture types in organisations in the above-mentioned three sectors, and to subsequently compare these types so that their similarities and differences can be revealed. The chosen method of research is a case study; the data was collected by a questionnaire survey among employees and by analysis of documents used in the organisations. My research has indicated that the organisational culture in the three sectors is similar in certain elements, but different in others. An established similarity is the presence of the clan culture, which is a friendly and informal working environment. Regarding the differences, the culture is more bureaucratic and hierarchic in a state-controlled organisation, while more dynamic and focused on innovations in commercial and non-profit ones.
