Nursing Care of Infusion Lines

The bachelor thesis deals with issues of handling an infusion line. The thesis describes the infusion line, its components and an extra chapter is devoted needleless connectors. It also includes procedures of using infusion lines and needleless connectors which are recommended not only by The International Association of Infusion Nurses (INS), but also by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The work also describes complications of nosocomial infections that are related to handling the infusion line. In the practical part, I have made the results of the survey, which was aimed at the servicing infusion lines. The questionnaire was completed by nurses and midwives at Podřipský hospital and the health centre in Roudnice nad Labem. From the obtained data, I have found out that 81.82% of respondents use when working with the infusion line needleless connectors. On the contrary bacterial filters in the catheter sepsis prevention are not used at all. Next I have found out that 98.18% of respondents carry out the hygienic disinfection of hands before using the infusion line.
The History of Documentation and Control of Sterilization Processes in Health Care

The theoretical part reports on development of the first sterilization device and on intro- duction of the sterilization technology on the market in the Czech Republic. The complete sterilization process and its checking mechanisms are described as well as the sterilization process documentation and the options how to perform it. The results aimed to the theoretical knowledge of the Central sterilization department staff are presented in the empiric part. The sterilization technology, the documentation form that is used and the education and experience of the nurses working at the Central sterilization department are shown further in this part. Comparing the results is clear that the electronic documentation system has been used by three out of five hospitals. There was find out that the most commonly used sterilization technology was the steam sterilization. Concerning the theoretical knowledge of the respondents, we find out that this is at a high level. A few respondents are engaged in the lifelong education at the Central sterilization department, hence, there should be more attention turned to this education of the staff.

Nursing documentation in the Intensive Care Unit

The dissertation is about nursing documentation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and resuscitation units of Ústřední Vojenská Nemocnice (ÚVN). The paper describes the development of the nursing process and all required documentation used when completing this task. From a theoretical perspective the paper deals with the content and application of all nursing documentation in terms of the relevant legislation. From the practical perspective the research was completed utilizing a questionnaire approach. The questionnaire was delivered at ÚVN in Prague. The research focus is about getting the information about documentation, how information is interpreted between departments as well as the incidence or impact of incorrect documentation. One of the goals of the research was to determine the satisfaction of staff regarding nursing documentation. The research concluded that clear education regarding nursing documentation requirements is required when the nurse first is exposed to the area. Furthermore the research describes that nurses are well informed about the required documentation during the orientation process. Competency of nurses working in intensive care in The Czech republic and Gerat Britain

Summary: The diploma thesis compares competency of nurses working in intensive care in The Czech Republic and Great Britain. Theoretical part of the thesis gives compact look to regulation of nursing profession, education of nurses and nursing registration in both countries. In this part are highlighted main differences of the legislation which nursing competency is based on in each country. There is also mentioned the public opinion of the nursing as a profession and its prestige related to both countries. Practical part of the thesis focuses on the interpretation of analysis of the research regarding the above mentioned topic. For the research have been used the method of collecting data by structured questionnaires. There was a questionnaire for each country in its own language. The aim of the practical part is to compare divergence of knowledge, skills and competency of nurses working in intensive care in both countries. Enteral nutrition in terms of intensive care - Experiences of nurses

My thesis is about enteral nutrition in intensive care with a focus on nurses. Enteral nutrition is a very hot topic not only in the field of intensive care, therefore my goal was to map the knowledge and experience of nurses in this important area of nursing. The final work consists of two parts. In the first part deals with the latest available knowledge in the field of enteral nutrition in intensive care in the country. This chapter contains individual subchapters consisting of definitions, indications, contraindications, distribution, technology and complications of enteral nutrition. In the second part I use research methods and statistical processing of data related to the enteral nutrition, and knowledge of nurses in this area. Prior research, I identified five hypotheses, which I after statistical processing of the questionnaires filled by the above- mentioned nurse intensive care or resuscitation, confirmed. The practical part is a discussion of the work and overall appreciation in the form of conclusions. I included the some topical pictures and diagrams to the appendix. Application Basal Stimulation in Intensive Care Unit

Precis This graduation theses discusses about application of the concept of Basal stimulation in the work of nurses in intensive care. A theoretical part explains the concept of basal stimulation, briefly outlining the history of this concept and describes the different elements. Elements' name are include somatic, vestibular, visual, olfactory, auditory, oral and tactile - haptic stimulation. The work also highlights the importace of biographical history of the client. Research part determines the level of knowledges about basal stimulation between nurses in the ICU (intensit care units) and its use in the ICU at University Hospital in Hradec Králové. Part of my diploma work is research about blood - transfusion application problems, experience of nurses with practise of transfusion, if they have got all information and know all complications, which could happend and if they are controled by doctors during this operation. After agreement of deputy manager for nurse care I have done this survey investigation in the four Prague's teaching hospitals.
Problems of Nurse's Scarcity in Intensive Care

The theoretical part deals with the work of nurse in intensive care, the problem of nurse's scarcity and stabilization measures of general nurses. The main objective of this work was to map out the problem of nurse's scarcity in intensive care. Another aim was to find out whether the scarcity of nurses in intensive care has an effect on the quality of nursing care and how nurses react to the measures of securing the stabilization of nurses. Information were collected on the basis of two questionnaire surveys. The first form of questionnaire was intended to matrons and the second form was addressed to nurses working in intensive care. The research file was consisted of 8 matrons and 84 nurses from two faculty hospitals in Prague. From results analysis of respondents was confirmed hypothesis No. 1: Problems of nurse's scarcity in intensive care are still actual and the number of nurses is low. Hypothesis No. 2: Scarcity of nurses in intensive care has a considerable impact on the quality of nursing care and hypothesis No. 3: Nurses have problems with maintaining quality of patients care in intensive care. These hypotheses were also confirmed. However the last hypothesis No. 4: Nurses are interested in stabilization measures and they appreciate these changes, wasn't confirmed.
